Review summary

Created with AI, based on recent reviews

Evaluating 35 reviews, most reviewers were unhappy with their experience overall. Many people encountered significant problems with trade-in assessments, often having their devices rejected or devalued for alleged damage or claims of not being factory reset. Reviewers expressed frustration and a sense of unfairness, particularly when devices they believed were in excellent condition were given zero value, despite careful preparation and documentation. However, some customers also noted positive experiences with the refund process. A few people reported receiving the full estimated trade-in value and their refunds were processed quickly. These individuals found the process to be straightforward when their device valuation matched the initial estimate.

An excellent experience

Traded in my Pixel 6 for a 7 Pro via Google Store UK. Was a bit nervous having read the reviews but unfounded.

Trade in pack arrived 3 days after new phone with clear instructions. Factory reset as instructed and placed in supplied box (just phone, cables not required). I took photos as proof of condition.
Postage paid for and tracked, arrived next day. Logged into my Google Store account and clicked orders; PCS Wireless status clearly shown (received, under review, completed and amount being refunded). Whole review process took 3 working days and full trade in value being paid. Excellent experience and pretty quick.

Welcome to the PCS Wireless lottery/scam

First time for me attempting a trade-in and I sent my factory-reset phone to PCS Wireless.
They sent the phone backing claiming it hadn't been factory reset. I recorded the opening of their package and turned the phone on showing it was indeed factory reset.
This was shared with Google support. In less than 24 hours they reply saying they "tried their best" to "request" that PCS Wireless reverse their error.

Well PCS Wireless says no and claim it wasn't factory reset when I have clear evidence it was.

Google Support appear to be incredibly unhelpful and spineless - they appear to be in awe of PCS Wireless - and have just offered me £40 in store credit. Yes I really want to buy more stuff from Google now...

So this is my one and only interaction with PCS Wireless and it was woefully poor.

You may or may not get good service from them and that really is disappointing for a company that you shouldn't even have to think about, let alone remember.

Great service

I was really skeptical after reading the reviews and scared I would be scammed.
I bought the pixel 6a and traded in my Samsung phone.
I received the full estimate of my trade in within 5 days (cleared in my bank.)

I was worried, but shouldn't have been...

After sending off my 'mint' pixel 4a for a trade in against a pixel 7 pro, I checked trustpilot, & immediately wished I had not done it. However just 2 days after they received it, the full refund value of £130.00 was credited to my account. Had I tried to sell my old 4a to anyone else, they were offering around £50. I felt sure that they were going to find a 'fault' and only give me the minimum of £79.00. But no. As promised, I got my full trade in value. That's my genuine experience.

ABSOLUTE SCAM

I purchased a Google Pixel 7a from the Google store on May 10th and chose the trade-in option to receive a £175 refund upon sending my Pixel 6a to PCS Wireless.

The Pixel 6a I sent was in mint condition, extremely well taken care of and thoroughly protected in a Spigen Tough Armour case with a Spigen tempered glass screen protector. Not a single scratch, scuff or blemish to be seen. My device was factory reset and properly packaged in the supplied box and sent off to PCS Wireless.

May 18th, I received a notification from Google at 07:48 stating that PCS Wireless had received my device and that most assessments take 3-4 business days. Later the same day at 19:15, I received another notification from Google informing me that my device has been inspected and rejected for the following reasons:

#1 - The device was not a "Pixel 6a" but a "Pixel 6".
#2 - The device was not factory reset.

I was immediately alarmed as this was absolute nonsense and I searched for PCS Wireless contact details online. Instead, I happened to stumble upon the TrustPilot web page and was horrified to find dozens of 1 star reviews stating that this company and the service it provides is a scam.

I have been in contact with Google and was advised to follow up my conversation with them upon receipt of my device which was being returned to me by PCS Wireless. The Google representative I spoke with provided me with a channel to update them whenever possible.

Google has thus far been very helpful in reassuring me that we will get to the bottom of this and I shall follow up this review upon the conclusion of this ridiculous drama.

To be crystal clear, stay firmly away from PCS Wireless at all costs.

Google trade in Pixel 6 Pro

Just received an email from this 'company' stating - LCD major damage.
The phone was in perfect working order, always in a case and had a screen protector. It was sent in the box supplied for the trade in.
I'm waiting for the phone to be returned to see the condition.
I have made Google aware, little may come of it.

Empty office building.

The pre-paid envelope wouldn't scan at 2 different post offices, they told me the bar code was not valid. The PSC Wireless office was only a 30 minute drive and I thought I could hand it over in person and get a faster settlement and receipt. I got there at 3.30 today and found derelict offices. This is a Scam. Do not send your phones to these people.

Huge scam

I am seeking advice on this huge scam.

They take phones with good trade-in value and then they receive it and value it at £0 advising of some fault found on the phone.
My phone was in perfect working order and immaculate condition.
They advised the screen was cracked and valued it at £0.

I requested the diagnostic printout of my phone under FOI act and they refused to comply.

I am seeking advice on this huge scam which I am sure has brought huge revenue to both companies and huge disappointment to Google's loyal customer base.

Customer service refuse to help their customers with their trade in issues, just advising they have 'escalated the issue', but never with any resolution.
PCS refuse to speak directly to customers.

It amounts to fraud on a corporate scale.

Please do not waste your time or money on this Trade-in process.
You will likely get reasonable money for your old device with independent traders.

I am sure various consumer bodies are already investigating this scam, but I will be sure to raise it myself too.

I wish I never purchased another Pixel phone and from now on I will take my business elsewhere and I hope other consumers will too.

Bought a google pixel 7 pro from the Google store, and took advantage of the trade-in option. I was sent a return pack from pcs wireless, and I tried to use pre-paid return label at the post office, but the label would not scan. Ended up having to pay £7.65.
NOT HAPPY, AND CAN'T SEEM TO GET HOLD OF PCS
Didn't expect this to happen with such a massive company like Google!

This company is a scam

This company is a scam. Sent me a prepaid envelope along with the box to return my old phone but the prepaid label wont work in the post office or Royal mail distribution centre. Sent PCS an email and got a response that i have to contact Google. Spoke with Google and even they could not reach PCS. Then why on earth has Google got a contract with PCS. Returned my Google Pixel for a full refund. Google is not even a bit close to Apple experience. Wont recommend PCS to anyone.

Can't work out the negative reviews.

I have viewed and heard many complaints about PCS and I can't understand why. I sent my iphone 7 128gb after purchasing direct from Google a pixel 6a.
The valuation by PCS was subject to my iphone being unmarked and factory reset which it was. Over the Xmas and New Year period I sent my phone in the pre paid package sent by PCS. Then read the reviews here. Horrified I waited to see what came next. In fact in very little time Google informed me that after inspection PCS had approved and authorized settlement . Google paid the full value into my account within days. Having knowledge of the legal profession I would be careful of accusing PCS of being "scammers", in my experience they certainly are not. The phone submission is subject to a proper inspection by PCS and if it fails their test then that can result in disappointment by the seller.

Scam Company paired to Google

Scam Company paired to Google - Avoid. Sent in trade in valued at £185 against Pixel 6A, but was declined despite being near mint. 'Body Damage' was excuse, yet not the case. Very dissapointing company to deal with. Presume have targets for certain models and then just reject anything else once me. Huge waste of time

Do not use!

Do not use!
Absolute liars.
Originally valued my phone at £235 as long as fitted criteria, it did this with ease as my phone was immaculate. They valued at £0.
I was shocked!
Then, I read all these reviews of identical experiences. Google store should be ashamed that they are linked to such an unreputable company.
Avoid, avoid, avoid and tell everyone you know to do the same. I wouldn't want anyone else to buy a Google phone thinking they will get money for their trade in phone, when it's a lie.

Absolute joke of a company!

Back in October I purchased a Google Pixel 7 phone through Google and thought that I would do the trade-in to trade-in my old Pixel 5 phone. I sent the phone off to PCS Wireless and around a week later was told that the phone was worth £0.00 despite the phone being in almost perfect condition when I sent it. They said that because of this, the phone would be returned to me.

Now 8+ weeks later I still have not received the phone back and I don't seem any closer to getting it back. Google support have been good so far, but PCS seem to be refusing to the fact that they have lost my phone. They keep insisting that Royal Mail have lost it, but when I contacted Royal Mail with the tracking number, they said they hadn't received the parcel associated to the tracking number.

I would not recommend anyone uses the Google trade-in service unless they change provider in the future as PCS Wireless have been an absolute joke so far and definitely seem like a scam of a company. If you want to sell your old phone, another company like Music Magpie or Mazuma Mobile would probably be a much better option.

DONT TRADE IN. Phone not returned

I traded in my device over 2 months ago. They valued my pixel 4xl at £0 and initialized returns. However, I have still not received my phone.
Google support has been ignoring the issue for well over 2 months and has not taken it seriously. There is no way to contact the PCS company to sort this out directly so I am stuck with no way of getting my phone back.
This experience has really put a sour taste in my mouth and makes me really consider whether to purchase future pixel devices.
