Really friendly and professional auction house. Clear and frequent information about up coming sales
I have been buying & Selling from W.H.Peacocks for many years and it has changed so much over the years we have to remember most goods are used, worn, pre-loved, or faulty returns etc I, maybe a grading system to tell what the item is I would personally prefer & I myself now bid online rather than loose time attending but this is my choice & gamble, I buy / collect and have acquired many good things at knock down prices, and some items which I have broke even on or made slight loss’s on
It would be nice if they listened to the public and some suggestions maybe a suggestion box now that's going back I think when companies grow which mark has made this happen they shouldn't lose sight of some public input if they are still interested, I've seen many companies do this over the years welcome to modern times I've personally noticed many times when bidding online with multiple devices on that bidding on line I'm winning then my bid gets cancelled and the bidder before me then wins the item? This I cant understand? It does not seem fair to me, yes there are commissions to pay when online this nearly gets up to 25% in total or nearly 50% if your item has vat on top of sale price, plus the buyers have to pay there commission!! So with the sellers & buyers commission this adds up to quite a bit on each item!! But we have to remember this is a business and it's here to make profit for mark and his family, it's all sold as seen and you get rid of it, or sell on eBay where commission is 12.8% & 80pence perhaps they should have a member of staff that deals with the public more as I've had to talk to staff on occasions about matters and felt it could be sorted more if they had public related member of staff but at the end of the day it's our choice to bid there maybe we should be more aware / apprehensive of what were buying or get carried away with auction fever but we're all human in this matter nice to see old faces still there Tim 👍 just slightly older but then again like us all thank you mark & team just try and listen to the public a bit more
I had just won items in an auction. The items are: few padlocks, small safe and 3 hive thermostats-one standard and two mini. For all this they want £40 for packing n delivery. Or, £30 for packing and delivery to be arranged by myself. There is no law enforcement on this planet that will make me to pay them this ridiculous amount of money for these tiny little items that can all fit in a shoe box. The girl gave me a quote out of thin air as no sane person would ask this much money.
Reading other reviews here, I will never buy from them again, nor should you.
After having paid for postage and packing, the clock arrived totally smashed to bits. I did know it wasn't insured but there were no fragile notices on this package. Also, despite there being no knocks to the packaging, the clock was smashed. The packaging was quite thin so would have shown signs of being dropped. This tells me that it was smashed whilst being packed. They sent me a photo of the clock unpacked which proves nothing. Very disappointed at the email I received which tells me they couldn't care less.
Unfortunately the £100s and thousands spent on the
St Neots auction house the staff has let them down. On the Wednesday evening place 3 bids on a slip, handed it in. On the Thursday I rang and was told that the bids where on the book but only won one of the items, I went to pay and asked how much did the other items go for and was told the price, well I place a bid double what the item had made, I asked why my why bid did not win and was told that they forgot to put it in. The other customer had lost 50 % on the sale. Very poor customer service and lied to by the staff, very disappointing, I am all up for supporting local companies but they really should honour there mistakes so both parties the seller and myself should have a honourable outcome.

After taking advice I put my grievance in writing to the auction house via email in which they did reply and stated I will be contacted. I had no contact so I rang them and a member of staff started to tell me that the manger was not available so I asked for somebody else who is in charge but in stead put the phone down. How rude not customer service what’s so ever my advice with my experience is stay away from this auction house.
Great auction house amazing service,Chris was excellent.

I bought two items from them. They charged me £40 post and packing. When I queried how much for packing only I was told £30. The package arrived today in a cardboard box, no other packaging to support items moving about. £30 to pack in a cardboard box and write a label “Ripoff”
Don't buy on-line they do not describe the condition of the goods honestly they are cowboys avoid and when you say anything to them the answer is always, not their problem. The whole idea of selling over the internet is that you describe the goods fairly and honestly, not after someone has bought something in good faith believing that you are professional, get the answer should have driven miles to have a look the day before buying. Just set up for in person auctions not set up for online. Stuck in the 80's.
Be very careful what you buy from st neots auction they don’t tell a word of truth about products they knowingly sell goods that are faulty and possibly dangerous .
The area manager is the rudest person you will ever meet unhelpful is an under statement.
There is no after sales service
They do not put a word about products being fit for the skip happy to sell them and rip the public off .
Never again will use again thanks to area manager being so arrogant
disgusting company avoid at all costs ! conning auctions who should be reported
Purchased an item through online bidding described as a home electronic cutting machine, but what I received was a machine that doesn't cut due to missing parts and not fit for purpose, therefore the description is misleading. They hide behind their T&C's stating you must obtain a condition report, sold as seen, etc, but it appears deliberately don't put the true condition online deceiving people that aren't able to view in person. There's no mention on the listing that you can obtain a condition report and you shouldn't have to request a report in the first place as all details should be provided on the listing. If I was purchasing off ebay I would have rights under the sale of goods act that the item was fit for purpose but they seem to think the sale of goods act is not applicable to them. I have asked for details of their trading body to seek further advice and make a complaint but no response.
If you aren't able to fully test and view in person I suggest you avoid this auction house.
I'm sure I will get some standard response like all the other negative reviewers, but regardless of hiding behind your T&C's you are misleading innocent people and it's not morally right.
I bought two pairs of earphones for £10.00 and with auction costs the final price was £14.46. As the auction was in Bedford, I was not going to drive over 100 miles (roundtrip) and so requested that they post the items to me. I received and e-mail requesting £20.00 postage fee and so I post my response below:-
Hello,
Thank you for your message but NO, I do not and will not pay £20.00 postage for an item that only cost me £14.46p and upon checking with the post office and other carriers the cheapest postage charge for an item that is compatible in size and weight is ONLY £2.42p yes, "two pounds and forty-two pence" therefore, may I suggest that you stick your postage charge where the sun does not shine.
You can keep your merchandise for which I have already paid. I am only 72 years old and on pension and quite honestly will not miss the £14.46 and, I will NOT be bidding with your company ever again as I do not like or agree with profiteering.
It seems to me that Peacock's needs the money far more than I do.
No salutation,

Most of the things sold don't work, mix new and used clothes are sold as new.
You have to check prior to sale day

If I could give 0 stars I would. These are con/scam artists who sell fake and broken items online.
Bought 4 items at online auction - one of them was almost entirely fake, one was damaged in transit and one, even though apparently passing a PAT, is an electrical danger.
Cheeky so and so’s charged me £50+VAT for postage, to then try and tel me that I hadn’t opted for the “extra” cover. This was never offered so makes me think the items were damaged when sold.
Reported these issues to them, along with pictorial evidence and been ignored for over two weeks. Sent final notice to respond before further action.
Avoid like the plague.
It's a place easy to navigate with a cafe, places to stop and think, and plenty of friendly people around looking for a bargain. As a visitor it was a good experience and introduction to an auction house.
