Awful communication
Awful communication.
Due to unforeseen circumstances I need to vacate a rental property that I shared with another individual. It took a month for them to advise I couldn’t be taken off the contract and I would be liable for any fees associated with this. The reason for this was due to a large fee for the landlord and it was always likely they would have declined the request - yet I wasn’t warned this or even offered to pay the fee.
I have still been receiving communication regarding the flat - I have no access and gave my key to the other named tenant.
The property has been listed for rent prior to the end of the stayed tenancy agreement. I have not been informed at all regarding this, not even offered if I’d like to stay in the flat until the contract expires. I have chased this with staff and have received no response in 14 days. I have had to log a complaint.
They cannot only decide to contact me regarding the property when it suits them. It’s grossly unfair and contradictory to their past communications with me.
Avoid for renting

Terrible service when renting out our property. Communication was virtually nonexistent and no updates or information provided. We might as well have managed it ourselves.
I’d give no stars if I could
I’d give no stars if I could. Whilst in the middle of purchasing a property we were told the house would be kept on the market ans standard procedure for the type of sale and then we were told someone else was buying it. Even though we had already agreed sale. Peter Alan allow us to pay all the money / fees and searches. Left out of pocket and without a home whilst we were in a chain already. Stressful. Lies. Untrustworthy. Scam artists. Would never use myself and would advise everyone to avoid.

This company has no morals and some sick individuals employed, after the passing of my mother back in may24 ,the family looked to sort out and inform all her commitments of the situation, we had emphathy and good communication with almost everyone involved, banks, utility, phones etc
But peter Allen who she had paid 6 months rent in advance too have done all in their power to screw over a deceased mum, grand mother, it's now 14 months since she passed with non return of overpaid rent Cameroon Watkins has done his best to ignore and benefit from a truly distressing event, they truly are disgusting individuals, we have given up trying to get this sorted, just like to warn people of the kind of company they are potentially getting involved with
Over valued house, undervalued vendor.
They valued my house 25k above three other agents and stated their fee was 1.8% of the LISTING price, not the sale price, so it was clear they were inflating the valuation to increase commission. The agent was patronising, not believing me about certain warranties in the home, and saying 'I'm just testing you' and 'you've done your research' when I knew what I was talking about. I wondered if he was a misogynist as I am a single woman who looks young for my age.

Have a property for sale with peter alan, absolutely shocking service so far, very little feedback on viewings, everytime I call them the person who I need to speak with "is in a meeting ".
Phoned to complain today,promised a call back....guess what....nothing
Aggressive, lazy and uncommunicative
Aggressive, lazy, uncommunicative and simply awful to deal with. If we could give zero starts we would.
Avoid this disorganised company
If you are looking to use Peter Alan for lettings I would steer clear. Arranged a viewing, received confirmation only for them to call to reschedule the appointment. Turn up to view on the rescheduled time for there to miraculously be no knowledge of the rearranged viewing whatsoever. Zero apology and no explanation or care given by the staff on the phone. Will avoid this company in future. This is the canton branch for reference as I believe they have other branches
sold house on day of viewing
Organised a viewing in maesteg area for them to only call 15/20 minutes before cancelling the viewing because the house had sold. Travelled multiple hours to be disappointed. Absolutely not trustworthy. They also knew we were first time buyers and this is our first ever experience and it's been tainted. I really hope there are trustworthy agents out there.
We organised the date not even a week prior. They called us the night before to reschedule a mortgage review talk, and confirmed tomorrow was still on viewing. Then they leave a message 15/20 minutes prior to the viewing that it's been sold. Meanwhile, we are outside the house waiting for them to turn up.
We call them, they said all they can do is apologise, but apologies don't fix everything and the fact they waited until the last 20 minutes to let us know. Just appalled for our first experience ever.
They cost us money, stress and further anxiety going forward.
Painfully Awful Experience
I submitted my offer on the 6th of February and made it clear from the outset that this transaction could and should be straightforward. The property was empty, had already gone through probate, and I was under significant pressure to complete quickly due to my own buyers needing me to vacate. I repeatedly stressed the urgency and transparency of my situation.
Despite this, communication from Peter Alan was persistently inadequate. Every time I called for an update, I was assured someone would get back to me – that never happened. I then requested that all communication be moved to email, due to the consistent failure to return my calls. Even this request was ignored.
It was only after six weeks of chasing that I discovered the seller ‘apparently’ hadn’t even instructed their conveyancer. At no point during my repeated calls did Angela, the sales progressor, mention that this critical step hadn’t been taken. Nor was there any indication that the seller themselves was being contacted for updates – only their legal representative, who had yet to be instructed.
When documents did finally come through, the dates indicated that progress from the sellers started only 2 weeks after my offer was accepted, which did not align with the timeline I’d been led to believe.
The consequences of this poor communication and lack of urgency have been significant. I was forced into temporary accommodation for two months, costing me £5,000. I made this financial strain clear throughout the process, only to be met with dismissive comments such as:
• “When I spoke to the sellers a month ago, they didn’t seem that bothered,” and
• “You don’t seem that happy,” — an understatement, given the situation.
Even on the day of completion, over 24 hours after I had specifically asked where the keys would be, there was still no plan in place. I was told at 3:30 p.m. on completion day that they didn’t know where the keys were. Considering I had a three-hour drive ahead of me, this level of unpreparedness was simply unacceptable. In the end, I had to authorise the keys to be left under a bin — despite there being a key box at the property that had been used during viewings.
This entire experience has highlighted a clear need for training in basic communication and client care. It is extremely disappointing that once your commission was secured, any sense of accountability or urgency disappeared.
I will not be using Peter Alan in any future transactions, and I will be strongly advising others to avoid your services based on this experience.
Hounded by phone calls and appalling
Hounded by phone calls and appalling, argumentative service when I’ve called to discuss.
Valuer didn't turn up
Having sold a property using Peter Alan a few years ago I rang to arrange a valuation to sell my current house.
Viewing was booked for the afternoon so I left work early and after 30 mins no one had arrived. I rang the office to be told because I didn't answer the phone earlier in the day the appointment had been cancelled.
I explained that I am not able to answer the phone in work but I can receive email or text.
I received no email or text to ask if I was still available or that the valuation was in fact cancelled. The manager also stated a text was sent, however the last text from Peter Alan was a reminder the day before that the viewing was cancelled.
Very disappointed, if an appointment is made then it should be adhered to.

Been told that we would never get a house as we was told so we went to Peter Alan to see what they could do for us we had a dip plus they found us a dream house with in a week …
We both would like to thank you all for your help with us getting our dream house and helping us through everything
Peter Alan Monmouth are fantastic!
We made our first house purchase through Peter Alan Monmouth. We had been searching for well over a year and had a sale fall through with another estate agent. It had been an incredibly stressful process until we finally found our beautiful home. All of the staff were fantastic. We were kept up to date regularly and everyone went above and beyond to make sure we finally got our dream home. I’m very greatful to all involved for getting us over the finish line. A big thank you especially to Charlotte, Ryan and Sinead. Can’t recommend them highly enough 😁
Highly recommended!!
Emma dealt with most of my journey in renting out my house and made the transition very stress free and effective. Emma found the perfect tenant for me even though I gave her a list of tenants that I didn’t feel were suitable!! Lee and Imogen very helpful too when contacting the office and always give prompt feedback.
Customer service
A huge thankyou to Morgan Mitchell for finding me my property this chap is patient non pushy excellent salesman has your interests in mind I'm off the older generation and he took the time to point out the positives had so much knowledge of the property and beyond. I hope he goes far in peter alan he so deserves it
Pathetic Services - DO NOT GET ANY RENTAL/owner house from Peter Alan
I had an extremely disappointing experience with the maintenance team at Peter Alan while living at 20 Mary Street, SA11 1PN.
For months, I repeatedly contacted the maintenance team regarding severe mould and damp issues in the house, which posed significant health risks—especially as my wife is pregnant. Despite my continuous efforts to reach them, nothing was done to resolve the issue.
It became evident that the house had structural problems, yet the maintenance team failed to take any action. Their complete lack of responsiveness and accountability left us with no choice but to move out.
This level of service is absolutely unacceptable. I would strongly advise against renting from them, particularly due to their ineffective and unresponsive maintenance support. If negative ratings were possible, I would not hesitate to give one.
Emma- Rose
Emma- Rose, branch manager deserves this review - 5 Stars indeed. Brilliant support and service all round. In a difficult situation Emma was fantastic, Emma will go above and beyond to help/support you. Great service, great team! Highly recommend.
Terrible, Inconsiderate Service
I wouldn't recommend Peter Alan to anybody. Despite notifying them of house move more than 3 months before the actual date, Peter Alan Pontypridd office chose not to inform the current landlord until the week of the move thereby causing friction between the landlord and the tenant. To even get them to put the property on the market takes month of back and forth. They don't take responsibility for anything and all they care about is the money they want to make from the deal.
I have recently rented a property from…
I have recently rented a property from the Monmouth office. Emily and Sara were absolutely amazing through the whole process from the first viewing to receiving the keys. They were there to assist with any questions and always replied to emails very quickly. The whole process was completed with online forms to make the process fast and efficient. Both are a real credit to the Monmouth office.
