Good and not so good

I ordered 2 hybrid T roses in containers. 1 was a good healthy rose of a good size the 2nd was a lot smaller and not so healthy looking. Normally satisfied with your roses so hopefully the smaller rose will soon improve now in the garden.

Excellent roses as usual

Excellent roses as usual. Bit of a mix up with my order, but it was corrected without any fuss or drama so no complaints at all. Looking forward to coming to your Festival of Roses this year and excited to see your new rose at Chelsea if I can get tickets in time.

Customer service on the back burner during preps for Chelsea!!!!

I ordered a rose which was delivered on 7th May. Upon unpacking I was absolutely disgusted at the plant that had been sent out. It was appalling quality and had been repeatedly and incorrectly pruned and it was impossible to prune back to an outward facing bud because the few "buds" that existed were brown and shrivelled up and some shoots had gone soft and are starting to rot. I immediately took photos and emailed their customer services - they say they usually respond within 24 hours. They did not, so on 8th May I rang them and spoke to someone who said I would get a response by the end of the day. I did not, so just before 5PM I emailed them again to be told basically that they were doing their best to getting around to emails "in good time" because they were "busy preparing for Chelsea". Well this is now 5 full days and I have heard absolutely nothing from them. I'm sorry but Chelsea or no Chelsea I feel I should have had a reply by now - I am out of pocket and want a refund -so both the rose and their customer services are not up to standard. If they can't cope with emails when Chelsea is upcoming then maybe they should refrain from dispatching plants at all during this period. I have bought many roses over the years from other companies and can honestly say this one from Peter Beales is the worst specimen of a plant I have ever seen. First and last order from Peter Beales.

After receiving your email on 7th May, your case was reviewed by our customer service team and referred to one of our rosarians for a second opinion before responding. We do this to ensure customers receive accurate advice and support, particularly where concerns relate to pruning, growth habit, or plant health.

From the photographs provided, the rose showed strong signs of active growth and establishment, including multiple healthy new shoots and fresh foliage. There was a small amount of dieback visible on one stem, which can occasionally occur, however new growth was already emerging from that area and the plant itself appeared viable and healthy overall.

We completely understand that waiting for a response can be frustrating, especially when expectations are that replies will be within 24 hours. During the Chelsea Flower Show period, response times were unfortunately longer than normal, but that should have been communicated more clearly and we apologise for the delay.

All of our roses are covered by a one-year guarantee, and our intention in referring the matter internally was to make sure we gave the correct assessment rather than a rushed response. We never want customers to feel ignored and we are sorry this was your experience.

A bit disappointing

A bit disappointing. It took ages to arrive and the rose was looking pretty sad for itself. I have cut off dead bits given it a good water in hope that it revives.

Some roses can look a little stressed after transit, particularly during warmer periods, but they should recover well once watered and allowed time to settle in. That said, we’d like to take a closer look to make sure everything is as it should be.

Sorely Disappointed

Sorely disappointed
I ordered four roses. One rose was exactly what I hoped I would receive. One was less impressive and a bit 'leggy'. The final two of the four, I wouldn't have paid £5 for if I'd seen them at a garden centre. One has a few buds on it and no leaf, the other has a few buds that actually appear to be dead. Really not good enough IMO. I have now seen what I consider to be the dismissive reply from Peter Beales Roses below. I have emailed them twice with photographs and will certainly keep them posted if the sick looking roses I have received from them fail to thrive, especially as they look to me like bare root roses that have simply been put in a pot and sent out. Obviously, I don't know this for sure, but I am deeply suspicious.

Having looked at the images this morning, the second rose you mentioned does appear healthy overall, with plenty of fresh green stems and strong new shoots, which are both positive signs of an actively growing rose. While it currently has little to no foliage, this is not usually a cause for concern at this stage of the season.

Our roses are potted at different points throughout the year, and some varieties — particularly those potted later in the 2025 season — can naturally be behind others in leaf development. Some varieties are also slower to break into growth than others. Based on what we can see, we would expect this rose to begin producing foliage over the coming weeks.

That said, we completely understand your concerns given the difference in appearance between the four roses received. All of our roses are covered by a one-year guarantee, so if the plant fails to establish or does not continue developing as expected, please let us know and we will of course assist further.

I do love buying from Peter Beales Roses. The plants are substantial and healthy, well packaged and delivered quickly. I like the generous discount offers that occur from time to time, and when I have a query there is always a quick response.

Great choice of Roses on an easy to use…

Great choice of Roses on an easy to use website. The rose was well packed on arrival as a gift to my sister in law. The only slight niggle was that I did find it difficult to discover whether the rose could be sent directly as a gift to the recipient. It was only at payment that I discovered I could! All good. Would recommend.

Your order was placed on 27th April and dispatched on 29th April at 2:55pm, with an estimated delivery date of 2nd May. Tracking shows the order was delivered earlier than anticipated on 30th April.

While we always do our best to work towards requested delivery dates where possible, unfortunately we are unable to guarantee exact delivery days due to external courier factors once parcels leave our nursery.

We do appreciate your feedback regarding the online ordering process and will pass this on internally, as we understand how frustrating it can be when an order cannot be completed online as expected.

I have bought 2 roses from Beales this…

I have bought 2 roses from Beales this year so far. The first was a bare root and it really didn't look very well but I have potted it and it does seem to be sending out some small leaves. The second was a potter rose and it's much better, bigger and healthy looking. Over all, I'm pleased and can't wait to see some lovely blooms. Xx

Bare root roses can sometimes look a bit underwhelming on arrival, especially early in the season, but it’s a good sign that yours is now pushing out new leaves. That’s typically how they establish a slow start, then steady growth once settled.

Ordered Oxford Physics rose

Ordered Oxford Physics rose. I have wanted this one for some time. Gardener Ben on Youtube has recommended it for his "Shade Collection" The rose arrived, very quickly indeed. It is healthy with lots of growth and is in the ground. So far it's doing well, receiving around 5 hours direct sunlight a day. I am very excited about this one. It's an absolute beauty. Can't wait for it to flower.

Problem with delivery resolved!

There was a problem with the delivery of my order and I phoned to enquire about it. The lady I spoke to was so lovely and helpful and sent a replacement order to me. I really appreciated this as it was the couriers fault and not Peter Beatles Roses. The rose I received is excellent, far better than I imagined. Thank you so much
