Pet express was my Knight in shinning Amour!

My family was relocating from Jakarta Indonesia to Colombo Sri Lanka and we had a boxer dog that needed to be transported along with us to Sri Lanka. Boxers are generally a banned breed on most airlines due to health issues and suffocation on flights as their snub nosed dogs. I had a two month deadline to get Bella my boxer to Sri Lanka before our flight to Colombo.
The pet relocators in Indonesia although helpful were absolutely clueless on how to get a boxer transported as every airline and every route they checked would refuse Bella.
After a month of struggle is when I got in touch with Shanaka from Petexpress Sri Lanka. From the very first instance Shanaka assured me that he has done it before and he will get Bella home. From that he worked tirelessly getting on board jakarta pet relocators and transit pet relocators on board, checking flights and routes to make sure Bella not gets to go home but also to make sure she had the most comfortable flight to Colombo. He kept assuring and reassuring me that everything will be ok and Bella will be home. He kept me updated every single day on what’s going on, and he always left out anything that would worry me and first worked it out before telling me about it. He even kept following up with me on how I was crate training Bella for her first ever flight.
On the 18th of June Bella took her first flight to Colombo in the most safe and comfortable way. Shanaka kept me updated all the way. She transited through Malaysia and stayed over night on a mini doggy holiday (as per Shankas words) at the dog hotel in KL. And safely reached Colombo on the 19th on June.
Getting Bella home would not have been possible without Shanka, he was an absolute god sent for our family.
For Shanaka this was not a job this was a love and passion to get not just my Bella home but I’m sure to get any animal to reunite with their family. He understands that animals are not just animals but a part of the family.

It was a real pleasure working with Shanaka, he was incredibly responsive and answered every doubt and question I had and he worked with me and guided me in getting my precious Bella from Seattle, WA to Colombo, SL and I was able to completely trust that he’ll get her sent directly to my family home safe and sound from the airport as well. During Covid times and the crazy added rules and requirements, the help I got from Pet Express was incredibly pivotal in getting her home safe.

I contacted Pet Express to bring my cat from Myanmar to Sri Lanka which I thought nearly impossible due to the crisis in Myanmar. However, Shanaka offered his expertise and support to make that happen from the Sri Lankan end. He was very supportive, offered a good price and provided all the instructions and tips to follow. Everything was very professional and he took extra care of the pet once arrived in Colombo.

What can I say? From the time I contacted Shanaka right up to the time my pets arrived and were cleared, he has been an absolute help to me. Shanaka is very prompt in responding to emails and WhatsApp messages and phone calls. I was a very anxious pet mum as this was the first time I was relocating pets, who are snub nosed and with all the concerns about them traveling, Shanaka assured me that he’ll do everything he can to make sure they have a smooth clearance and he kept me calm. I can’t thank him and his team enough for everything. I will recommend Pet Express Sri Lanka without any hesitation.

I’m very thankful to Shanaka and the team, for a seamless transfer of my English Retriever down to SL. Pet Express have been nothing short of excellent, ever since the inception. Every email, phone call, WhatsApp text was responded to promptly. Having my big fur “baby” in his capable hands, Shanaka and his team did not disappoint. Olliver, got out just two hours after landing in Colombo and I was highly taken up by the speed and efficiency of the Pet Express team at the cargo side, customs side and at the DAPH. Shanaka and his team at Pet Express literally went the extra mile to make sure that everything went smoothly with the relocation of my cats Oliver & Echo, from Canada to Sri Lanka. With increased controls and restrictions due to covid-19, the whole process seemed extremely difficult to me, and at times I felt like I wouldn’t be able to achieve it.
But Thanks to Shanaka, everything went well,according to my timeline. He has a very thorough knowledge about the entire process. He knows his stuff! Due to Covid 19 we left Sri Lanka one day prior Sri Lankan lockdown. Before we were in contact with Pet Express and they have ensured us about the service this company provides. Wow, I can’t recommend Pet Express enough!!! Right from the first contact the commitment from Shanaka has been incredible. We contacted Pets Express a few months ago about relocating a dog from Sri Lanka to the UK. Not a straightforward case as the dog was a rescued street dog with 3 legs ❤️. Shanaka worked tirelessly to relocate our dog Piper and she was due to fly out to the UK on 21st March 2020 when the Covid-19 pandemic hit forcing the cancellation of all flights. He then kept us up to date throughout the following 3 months on how things were progressing with various options available. Then one day, the news we had all been hoping for, she was booked on a flight for Friday 10th July!!! 🤗 Shanaka’s communication throughout has been amazing, his English is excellent and has given great advise all the way through the process. I really believe without Shanaka’s she wouldn’t be with us now!!! We really can’t thank Pet Express enough.
Piper was well looked after in their care and had a great flight, a 6hr lay over in Doha, with the onward flight to London Heathrow. Shanaka organised for a company in the UK to handle everything this side so all we had to worry about were cuddles!!

Shanaka is the best choise if you have a pet in Sri Lanka! We wanted to take our sri lankan dog to Hungary. He helped us a lot from the beginning to the end of the process. He was always there for us, always available and always helpful.
He was always on time for meetings, he is very reliable and helped us with good ideas how to organize our trip.
We did not have much time but finally he solved everything, I mean the blood checking, the papers, the certificates, export permission.

Pet Express recently organized the move of three of our dogs from Sri Lanka to our new home in a remote area of Portugal and we could not be happier with their wonderful service. From the very beginning Shanaka’s communication was excellent and he planned the move down to the finest detail. The pet crates provided were roomy and of good quality and Shanaka encouraged us to provide towels and clothes that smelled of us to help set the dogs at ease. We were able to accompany the dogs to the airport in Colombo and afterwards Shanaka kept us up to date via a Whatsapp group he set up, and let us know how the dogs were at every stage of the journey.

Shanaka and the team seamlessly managed the mountains of accompanying paperwork as well as all the inoculations, micro-chipping, blood tests, lab checks and communications with the relevant authorities in Portugal, which saved us huge amounts of stress and worry at an already stressful time during the relocation of our entire household and belongings.

The teams in Dubai and in Portugal were excellent too and the whole operation was perfectly coordinated by Shanaka. Our dogs arrived in Lisbon and were put up in a pet hotel to get some sleep and recover from the long flights. The next day they were brought to our door by the team in Portugal and they were delighted to see their new home. One of our dogs is very elderly and we were worried about the toll the journey would take on him, but the trip went as smoothly and painlessly as possible and after a couple of days of tiredness and stiffness, he was back to his old self.

We cannot praise Pet Express and Shanaka highly enough and recommend them to anyone looking to move their beloved pets to another country as smoothly, efficiently and stress-free as possible. They may not be the cheapest option out there but they are most certainly the best company for the job and will ensure that there is the least amount of distress for your pets. Our pets are members of the family and while any relocation would have been inherently stressful and scary for them, Pet Express ensured that the experience was as relaxed and painless as possible and it was worth every cent to make sure that our beloved dogs got to their new home safely. The team genuinely loves animals and understands how much they mean to us and are aware of the enormous amount of trust we place in the them when we entrust them with our beloved pets.
