I was a volunteer in Wildlife Project in Peru for one mont in September 2022. It was amazing experience from which I received more then I expected in the start of my trip. Fistfull, I never felt that I was alone the office was supporting me all the time. Any problems I met, they helped me to solve everything in less then one day time. Pre departure support was really helpful and the physical office in Cusco (Peru) was also incredibly helpful during all my time in Peru. In first days I felt sick because of the high altitude and the office allowed me to rest at home (I was living in host family) until I felt better. They also recommended me a clinic according to my healthy insurance and provided me support by WhatsApp during all this time. It was really nice to understand that I can receive a real help staying alone in different country. Talking about the place where I stayed, it was a host family. They were very kind and helped me with some daily questions. I received lots of warm feeling during my time together with them. I even miss them after leaving Peru. I was valutering in Wild Life Project placed in Cusco (Peru) in Cochahuasi Animal Sanctuary and it was wonderful place to come. The team working there are really friendly and interesting people. Most of them can speak English so it was easier for me because I nearly don't know any Spanish. In the same time they were very happy to help with studying Spanish. Me and other volunteers spend wonderful time together. The place is beautiful and there is a big viriety of different animals, some of them I saw first time in my life. I was doing morning volunteering and found it more interesting compared to the evening one. In the morning there is more work to do and more sunshine. Talking about the work we helped to clean after lamas, alpacas, Macaos and other animal. We also prepared food for them and fed them. I could say that my favorite animals were Macaos, alpacas, bears and condors. But of course I definitely love all of animals in that place. Wonderful experience. Advices which I can give to new volunteers are simple. Talking about the place where you are coming you need to understand that Cusco is a place with a high altitude. People with vascular problems should double check if its a safe choice for them. Its the only serious advice, others are more simple. Cusco does not have any heating system in houses in the whole city. Its better to take more warm clothes, in the night its normally around +3 degree. You can buy a small heater in the shopping mole for around 20 or 30 $ and your life Cusco will be easier. If you will live in host family it will be kind if you will pay for the difference in the electricity, heater takes a lot of energy and for the host family it can be significant, it will cost you just around 20 or 30$. Cusco is a city with big historical meanings for Inca culture so you can find some interesting museums. Be carful with your bags because in Cusco somebody can steal it. Nobody would directly fight with you for your bag but if you will fall asleep in the bus then somebody could take it without you even notice it. Good luck with your trip !!!
