Plusnet/BT misleading customers

Plusnet business told me they were no longer providing business internet after 5th September. We are in the process of selling, so we could not take another contract. I asked if we could continue the contract for a couple of months, they said no. The only available option was BT 24 month contract. We bought a router for £75.00 and paid for a pay as you go sim just to keep tills and credit card machines going, nothing available for customers.
I contacted them today to find out what my final payment would be, only to be informed that they had changed their mind because a lot of businesses hadn't moved (probably as they would lose out on a lot of money) but didn't think to inform us. I believe it was just an attempt to push businesses onto BT contract and they never intended closing it down. Interesting to see how they treat long term customers.

Plus net contacted me saying they were…

Plus net contacted me saying they were no longer providing business phone lines in my area ,and my service was going to end in September 2023,they said they listed a BT phone number saying they had some good deals .I WOULD NEVER SIGN WITH BT they are USELESS ,they also stated they would not enforce early redemption charges but they HAVE !!!!!!! I moved my service to SKY and now PLUSNET are trying to collect over £175. When they ended the contract! See you in court PLUSNET BUSINESS!
Update... since sending them a letter stating the above issues they have contacted me and said that they will NOT be charging early exit fee .I decided to move to SKY as BT have chronic customer service.shame BT is closing Plus net and I'm sure the HOME service will be next .Mobile closing shortly.

Business move

Business move, taken over two months so far. Frequent delays and cancellations with all blame placed on OpenReach. I dont buy it. Updates were very unclear and unhelpful. They managed to lose me my business number during the move. I decided to cancel the contract as no service has been delivered in two months and no longer have faith in their ability to complete the order in a reasonable timeframe.

Cancelled after 30 mins when first issue appeared - can I have the first month back? Next month!

I'd just like to comment here - not in the hope that it will do anything, but because I am so angry with Plusnet Business and want to warn people. I had a cold call, and swapped to plusnet from my current business provider. It would be so simple - a new router, plug it in and continue. The truth was far from this. Just an hour later there was a problem. They could not transfer my number. The one on the website, invoices, advertising etc. I try to cancel, and discover this far from as easy. If I can't have my number, I might be able to have it later? Not to worry, cancel it, return the first months payment and we'll pretend it didn't happen. Cancelled. Today I'm told that I'll get the payment back in November - probably the 4-7th. To get through on the phone, the automated system to billing needs my number. As I don't have one to enter, it hangs up. I found a different number and the very nice lady there was lovely and couldn't do anything at all - it's something to do with a direct debit, that will never actually happen. They've told me not to cancel the direct debit but I don't trust them to NOT take another payment so I'm going to cancel that just in case. What a company! They promise so much and haven't provided anything - yet are hanging onto the money. Seriously folks - the ethics of not providing a service and hanging onto the money simply stink!

Signed up to PlusNet and all seemed…

Signed up to PlusNet and all seemed fine. Router arrived and I thought nothing of it. Paid for August. The following month, September, I noticed my old provider had taken my money and PlusNet had only taken August and not September. (I paid twice for August!)

I phoned both companies and realised there’d been an issue with finding the correct line. All sorted and I placed the order again.

Message after message followed about which number was correct, even though I’d made it clear twice on the phone and once on the message app. Finally it was sorted and a date given to change over.

Received a letter from my current provider finalising the end of contract. All seemed ok. Then another message two weeks ago from Plusnet to say my order had been rejected again.

I sent several messages to ask for an explanation. No response. A week later I asked again. Nothing. I asked them to call me. Nothing. Then end of this week I received a message with no content.

IT IS NOW 22nd OCTOBER!!!!

I’m bloody fuming with them. For a communication service, their communication service sucks. Zero customer service and they’ve just left me hanging out to dry wondering if I’m going to be left with no line or broadband as my current provider could be cutting me off. I will have to sort this mess out myself.

SHOCKING!

Stay clear of this company!

A couldn't care less attitude.

Unbelievably bad customer service - After 12 months they just terminated our broadband and phone line. No warning, no letter, no phone call. Even they can't explain why. And their attitude? Took a week to get their resolution....."You'll need to take out a new contract". So that's another 10 days and the usual fees. Avoid this company 😡

Faithful long term customer

I have been with Plusnet for years. Recently I moved into a retirement village and I contacted Plusnet to cancel but was persuaded to stay. I had many emails one saying my rooter was on way, another saying something different, on contacting Plusnet I was told the order had not been placed, assured it had been placed again and I would receiveba rooter in 2 days, After 10 days and no rooter I was struggling, called Plusnet and cancelled. I found a system within my new care village, Ordered in the afternoon and my rooter was there the next morning. Plusnet stopped my email at midnight the day I cancelled and all my saved emails etc. vanished causing so many problems, I'm angry because it was not my fault they were incompetent and I was more than patient. I am still struggling with the cancellation, so be warned Plusnet are mercenary.

Plusnet Bogus Broadband

I used to be a fan.

My home and business were both with Plusnet. Both brothers, father, and father-in-law joined Plusnet on my recommendation. I still appreciate them answering the phone, at weekends, or out of office hours, but I'm not a fan of them inventing bogus numbers to prove their broadband is better than it is.

In 2016 when I first took out an FTTC contract with Plusnet, my download speed was typically 75Mbps. By 2017 this had fallen to 70Mbps. Since then it has continued to decline.

Recently I lodged a fault claim and Plusnet sent out an Openreach engineer to investigate. Despite my inability to connect at above 48Mbps with my Plusnet Hub One, the Openreach engineer was able to connect, with his own equipment at 65Mbps.

Plusnet closed the claim, saying "we believe your broadband speeds are faster than the Minimum Guaranteed Speed of 45.7Mbps we promised you." Needless to say Plusnet have never guaranteed a minimum download speed of 45.7mps. No minimum or estimated speeds were given the last two times I renewed my contract.

Here are my current stats according the Plusnet website:
Product: Unlimited Business Fibre Broadband and phone (Contracted)
Estimated Download Range: 41 - 46Mbps
Estimated Upload Range: 15 - 16Mbps
Minimum Guaranteed Speed: 37.5Mbps
Current Line Speed (Download): 60.4Mbps

Oh look, a different bogus minimum speed. First it was 45.7Mbps, now it's 37.5Mbps. And the 'Current Line Speed (Download): 60.4Mbps' is BS. My line has been connected for the last 14 days at 51.3Mbps. Rebooting the router makes no difference, it reconnects at 51.3Mbps.

Today BT guarantee 66mbps minimum for a new business FTTC contract. But Plusnet are not interested. As long as my download is faster than their bogus minimum.

BT, just this week, finally connected my street to the exchange, for FTTP. I jumped at the chance. Plusnet meanwhile want £200+ to leave their shoddy service behind. Bankers.

Over £200+ charge for leaving early.

Was with Plusnet for 2+ years.
Decided to stay although the internet wasn't fast. Simply too lazy to switch.
Then found talktalk was £10 cheaper amonth and Plusnet speed went to 2meg at most night so I got in gear and decided to switch.
At end after leaving Plusnet was landed £200+! With early leave charges like that I don't think I ever return to Plusnet and would highly recommend family, friends and anyone to avoid.

I applied for a 25gb £10 per month sim…

I applied for a 25gb £10 per month sim only deal by filling out the form online. I filled in every text field correctly, including my bank details. I get to the end screen and was told that my request has timed out and to try again.

I try 2 more times, each saying the same thing.

I ring support, and they tell me that i filled out the address incorrectly and then hang up on me.

I then ring complaints and they tell me that actually, the address wasnt an issue, they claimed that i filled out the bank details wrong 3 times, when i clearly didn't.

I ask to file a complaint and they said they couldn't because I don't have an account.

I ask for a deadlock letter as advised by ofcoms website and they refused due to not having an account.

This wasted hours of my time, each time being blamed, or being told completely incorrect information.

This company needs investigating. Their sign up, support and complaints are unfit and their customer service overall is shocking.

The only thing that's gone without a hitch

We've just set-up a small retail business. We knew it would be tough going to start with, but didn't realise it would be this hard! Been a steep learning curve, from water suppliers, through to delays from landlords solicitors and bank set-up. THE only thing that has been straightforward, easy, and without a single hitch or issue has been setting up our Broadband and phone line with Plusnet. It's been a perfect experience for us, so thank you for that.

One star is way beyond what they deserve, these reviews should put them out of business. I had no phone number for a restaurant for 10 weeks because they allowed my number to be ported away. They NEVER return calls. I was on hold at one point for 10 hours trying to sort out the issue. Ofcom should shut them down they are not fit for purpose.

Better than all the rest

I have been with other providers and that was usually because they were true FTTP providers, but when we are talking about a provider that has to work with BT Open Reach lines, you can't beat Plusnet - and I used to work for BT and had a BT supplied Business line. (BT Employees have to use the same customer services as everyone else so have to deal with the same appauling service.) With Plusnet I speak to real people based in Yorkshire, I rarely have to wait more than 30 seconds for my call to be answered and I get a real person's name, someone I can ask for when Open Reach fail to do what they say they will. The final plus is that when I do have to sit on hold whilst they chase Open Reach, they have decent hold music!
That being said, the product I have to put up with is rubbish, but Open Reach have a monopoly so it won't matter who I pay for my crap speeds, at least when I have to complain that process is a less stressful event.

Beyond rubbish

Beyond rubbish, never returned any calls, yet over five of their staff have said that they would personally take the case on and manage it / and get Open Reach to actually get the broadband installed. Well over a month waiting, two appointments made which open reach failed to allocate an engineer too. Many (really many) calls to the Plusnet team and all they can manage is to lie to me (never returning calls when promised), inform me that the system to contact open reach fails and is hopeless. Plusnet's twenty four hour contact number now doesn't work for me just loops me back to the domestic service. Really can't recommend more that whatever you do... do not go near Plusnet for your broadband. They keep saying that once the broadband is up and running they'll compensate me..... unfortunately it has already cost me a third more then the fee's for the two year initial contract. Very friendly staff but ultimately feckless to put it politely.

Again I would not give them 1 star

Again I would not give them 1 star! Still no router delivered. My business has not had WiFi and I am unable to use my card machine as it needs the Internet! This has been a week without the card machine working. Hakeem a manager called me and said to buy a Dongle? My card machine is hard wired to the Internet, he them told me that I had to wait 3-5 working days for a new router? Amazon and lots of other companies manage next day delivery!!! PLUSNET can't manage next day delivery for BUSINESS CUSTOMERS!!! another day lost revenue due to no card machine . I would advise anyone not to use this company for your business.
