Super accomodation and location

With better weather this would have been a fabulous holiday with plen ty of places to visit and engage with.
Excellent property and very friendly owners who were on call nearby.
The location is stunning and keeps you engaged for hours with glorious sea views.

An Irish gem…

This is the first time we have booked with
Shamrock cottages but I would use them again. We found a brilliant stay in the Annexe, Annestown. A well appointed cottage and friendly, helpful hosts in a stunning location.

We had a brilliant trip, I’ve stayed in 4 other places within half an hours drive but this was the best location, a lovely pub a few minutes walk and the accommodation was lovely

After spending the first night very…

After spending the first night very cold and uncomfortable we spoke to the owner, she referred to the extra payments needed to heat the boiler which she had set to 1 hour twice a day, which actually didn't even give us enough hot water to wash up with, and also a free £10 for the electric shower and any other electric appliances we used. This would include if used a electric fan heater in the lounge to sit in an old and uncomfortable settee and watch a tiny TV that you could hardly see. The almost total lack of WIFI. When we spoke to the owner she recommended we speak to Shamrock ourselves. All communication from them by telephone of message/email never arrived with us for lack of WIFI connection. After 3 days of no communication we accepted we would have to stay. The part in the booking process that mentions the extra cost of heating and electric is at the very bottom of the descriptions and details and if I have read this before I made the reservation I would never have booked this property. Any owner that wants to make extra money above the general needs of a comfortable stay should add the cost to all bookings and not have an open cheque to charge what they want at the end of a stay. Also the £25 deposit for breakages, non refundable, is also an extra profit making cost I do not agree with. All extra costs should be included in the final cost at time of booking.

A cosy cottage in a remote beach location

Worse and dirty cottage ever stayed in

We stayed in home farm cottage campile Wexford may 2026.
It was the dirtiest cottage we've ever been in.
We arrived late evening to a very cold and extremely dirty cottage all we wanted to do was have a cuppa but the kettle had brown slime inside.
It took 5 hours to clean one of the bedrooms a bathroom,kitchen area and that was just a basic clean.
The fridge had mouldy food inside the oven was so bad we couldn't use it.
The air fryer was disgusting so again didn't use it.
The pots pans ect were also very dirty but also the cupboards inside n outside were so we had to go out and purchase sum plastic plates cups and utensils.
Even though it stated towels were provided they were 4 which were left in a dirty cupboard n they were discoloured not fit to be used on a dog never mind a person.
The shower was full of hairs n mold.
What was upsetting was the cot which had dead flies on the bedding,mold on the walls next to the babies cot n what looked like spilled dried milk inside the cot.
We did complain direct to the owner but didn't get a message back until the next day which is why we had to clean the areas we were using.
The owner did offer to call round and in her words give it a once over but told her we had just cleaned the areas we would use.
She did bring a new kettle n plug for the microwave after two days.
We also complained to shamrock cottages but again didn't get any help or support.
The stress of having to clean the cottage made me ill it completely spoiled our holiday.
The garden is not enclosed and the description of the cottage is definitely not what is states.
I've enclosed photos .
I would not use this cottage again which is ashame cos it could be lovely if it had a very good deep clean, decorated and tlc .
I would also get rid of the horrible plastic flowers the owner has all over the house which are all old and dirty.
Unfortunately it won't allow me to put the photos on here but if someone would like them please send me a message.

The Dirtiest Cottage I have ever stayed in

House freezing cold on arrival. No instructions to help with heating or WiFi etc.
Extremely disappointed that we've spent the first four hours of our holiday cleaning the house and a further hour cleaning the bathroom on the second day (Sunday).
Honestly, I don't know what to say. We've cleaned everywhere the two of us need to use. The house could be lovely and the layout great. We read the reviews and we thought all we would have to do is unpack and enjoy our break. Some of the cutlery had old food dried on it, the fridge had mould on one of the shelves. The kettle was also full of brown slime. We tried to clean that the best we could. The microwave has a two pin plug and there's no adaptor for the two pin plugs. I had to requested that the owner replaced the kettle and supplied a two pin adapter so we could use the microwave. I had to find a shop on the evening we arrived to purchase cleaning products. We also purchased new cutlery and plates because we were uncomfortable using the ones provided by the owner.

I think that it's disgraceful that the host would believe that to leave a property in a filthy unliveable state is acceptable.
