Just come back from a tour in Scotland

Just come back from a tour in Scotland. Isle of Mull and Tobermory. The tour driver Gavin was fantastic. Went above and beyond to ensure we enjoyed pur holiday. Genuinely cares abouts his passengers. Very helpful and knowledgeable. Colomba Hotel served good fresh food. Rooms comfortable and clean. Only problem was hotel lift. Very small and dated. Can highly recommend this tour.

Enjoyable Steam Train rides

We enjoyed the steam train rides on the Devon & Somerset trip. Hotel staff at Tiverton were friendly and helpful. Hotel needed updating which it is going through at the moment. Breakfast was good and Dinner average.Our guide was average. We would have preferred more information about the area.

just returned from 4 night trip to…

just returned from 4 night trip to york/Harrogate. Enjoyed the day trips especially the last day in York which we really enjoyed. Geoff the coach driver needs a mention as he was polite, courteous, and helpful. Unfortunately the hotel was not what we expected. Paint peeling off the walls around the window in our room. Window handles that need reattaching. The evening meals were definitely not 4 star. I think the shearing guests at the Hilton doubletree at harrowgate
have been mislead by the hotel being given 4 stars. should be 3 stars.

NC500 with Shearings...not the best

NC500 with Shearings....look for a better experience. My wife and I booked this wanting to see the glorious scenery of the NC500 eventually on day 4 we got on the route and saw the beauty of the Highlands. However it took Shearings longer to get on route than it took Artemis 2 to get to the moon. Positive...Scotland NC500 is beautiful and the weather was excellent... neither of these were in the control of Shearings. Route control was by Shearings Loch Ness Loch Lomond Perth and Gretna Green not on the route but included by Shearings...why. Hotels were poor and not on the route was it because they were cheap or the best for Shearings. Food at these hotels were average. So I ask was the tour for Customer satisfaction or to maximise profit. The drivers day break was scheduled at a location that had very little to do for the customer. And the East coast of the route was done at a rush in one day. If you want a balanced NC500 trip with good hotels and food with an itinerary that stays on route don't choose Shearings.

We did the N500 8 day tour

We did the N500 8 day tour. W8UNNNC/2. 8th May The whole experience was amazing from start to finish. The driver, Les was brilliant very professional, helpful and knowledgeable. The majority of the hotels were of a high standard of service and enjoyable food. The tour it's self was very scenic with some amazing views.

What a brilliant holiday we have just…

What a brilliant holiday we have just come home from. A long trip to Orkney, but well worth it. It was our first time on a coach holiday and we went with no great expectations. There was a lot of wows at the scenery, the places we visited were good, brilliant or amazing, depending on which ones. The hotels were good, except the last one on the way home, but to be fair, it was just a transit stopover, so didn’t mind. The food in general was very good. Our coach driver Chris, was lovely. He couldn’t do enough for us. He kept us informed and any problems if any were sorted. He was very kind, considerate and knowledgeable. So a big thank you Chris.
We look forward to booking another holiday with Shearings.

Won’t be travelling with you again as…

Won’t be travelling with you again as it takes too long picking everyone up, the hotel was of very poor quality, dated, run down, food was poor, not very clean. The drivers were very good, could do with more staff at Lymm services, absolute chaos

I inadvertently booked the wrong coach tour.

I inadvertently booked and paid the deposit for the wrong coach tour and I feared I would have a problem changing my booking. I could not have been more wrong. I had a call from a Shearing’s representative who was so understanding and charming. After confirming my details she changed my booking to another coach tour, transferred my deposit and emailed me confirmation. What a pleasure to deal with such efficient people

Shearings' Gt Little Trains of Wales

I've just got back from an 8 day Shearings' Great Little Trains of Wales holiday & it was fantastic! It was so relaxing having Shearings take on the roles of driving, navigating, parking & taking us out almost every day. Our driver, Radcliffe, was so attentive to all on board & had exceptionally smooth driving skills. Hotel was friendly and clean. (Shame about the scaffolding on hotel.)

Failed to deliver on its much…

Failed to deliver on its much publicised promises of 'no lugging luggage' and 'hassle free'.
No porterage in two hotels so had to 'lug our luggage' from coach to bedroom and back'
a)Poor transfer at Dartford where we had to stand for an hour awaiting the feeder coach
b)No dinner at the Anona hotel in Motherwell hotel, just soup and mediocre sandwhiches
c) random meal times at the Pentland hotel in Thurso
plus allocated an upper dining area requiring 5 steps up from the buffet bar; not good for guests with mobility problems.
d) The ferry to Orkney docked at 11.0am but the Ayre hotel would not allow check-in until 3.0pm, so the driver, and us, were left finding something to do for 4 hours.
Basically Shearings had booked hotels without any regard for providing guest requirements and service.

A Super Experience-Railways and Steam Trains

We have returned home from the tour of the Railways of Somerset and the Devon Coast and must say what an excellent short holiday this was.The itinerary was well thought out with each day a super and memorable experience.Our courier,Lesley, and coach driver working as a "team"ensured there were no logistic problems with meet and pick up times.Overall a really fabulous short break.The hotel was good as a 3star rating with excellent friendly and helpful staff.One complaint: When we arrived on Thursday the heating was on but on Friday turned off despite the ambient temperature dropping considerably.The room was cold and we requested an electric heater which was provided.
Once again it was a really well executed and enjoyable holiday.

Feeder coach experience

Feeder coach experience

Whilst understanding that designated seats are not given out on feeder coaches it is surely to be expected that when travelling as a couple and having booked as a couple one would sit together on the whole trip albeit designated seats do not come into play until one has transferred to the final destination coach.

Our experience on our coach holiday to Liverpool was as follows ….we booked a taxi through Shearings to the pick up point in Worthing where we got on the feeder coach to Rugby services where we were to transfer to our main coach with allocated seats.
Worthing was the last stop for pick ups and my wife and l were therefore the last to board. Despite a number of single seats available there was no double to be had.
When l queried with the driver there was an air of dismissiveness and total lack of any empathy being told there were no reserved seats and we had no choice but to sit separately until we arrived at Rugby.

I am not being disrespectful to single travellers but when transferring to their main coach at Rugby to reach their chosen destination they may well have to sit next to someone they do not know…..often sole travellers enjoy the experience of meeting new people
Why one asks do Shearings not have a stipulation on feeder coach travel that sole travellers can be asked to share with another single traveller if there are insufficient doubles available for couple travellers

I am certain many other couples would be equally upset by the experience seen by us….this issue needs to be sorted….it may happen infrequently and we were deemed unlucky …..that is not the point…it happened …….the experience spoilt our holiday. lf Shearings value customer satisfaction and service they have to remedy

Fab holiday

Pete was an excellent driver, helpful, considerate, nice clean coach, couldn't fault him.Alverston Hall Nantwich was fabulous, lovely big clean room,well!! food couldn't believe the choice, excellent!!! The only downside was 6 o'clock pick up, not Shearings fault as we live on the isle of wight but that's just logistics, thoroughly enjoyed our holiday,oh!! would have liked to stay longer 😁
