Great company and GREAT prices

Having read some of the reviews on here, needless to say I had my reservations. I telephoned the company, spoke to a nice guy Fraser who was very helpful and reassured me. I placed my order for the SRAM Rival 22 Groupset given they were the best priced on the market at £388. I received the groupset within a couple of days and I was very pleased. I have to say I was so pleased I placed a second order for sidi shoes which again I received very quickly. I have absolutely no reservations in recommended this company and would suggest there are too many internet trolls on here hiding behind their computers with little else to moan about. If you want to save the ££££'s and use a good honest company try these guys.

utterly disorganised, lied about stock. no refund for weeks

I ordered winter bike shoes, the price was great but after 6 days they hadnt arrived. I phoned and no one ever answered. Eventually a bored sounding man said he'd check and call me back. 2 days later i managed to get someone to answer the phone. He said they were out of stock but should get more "at some point" i asked for a refund, he said he would have to request another department to do it and it may take several days. Im £122 out of pocket at the moment and have no shoes! If you phone this company a bored sounding chap who appears to know nothing and care even less will fob you off! Inspiring when they have your money!

Nathan we did activate a refund when you requested.

Unfortunately as explained to you over the phone if somebody calls into the store to purchase an item and we sell the last item on the shelf and the stock level on the website is not updated immediately we may then over sell that item. This is a rare occurrence and we do our upmost to keep the stock levels on our website accurate.

As you are aware our phone line is very busy at the moment with people placing telephone orders and we do our upmost to respond to any quires in a timely manner and call people back.

Poor service and I was told untruth about status of delivery

I HAve ordered twice from Shiny Bikes, and I will never use them again. Ordered an Ultegra 6800 groupset 2 1/2 weeks ago. No email confirming order receipt, no dispatch notice, nothing. I called them after two weeks and was told my order had been shipped the previous week and that I should have received an email from PArcel force. He also confirmed my name and the ordered items. I advised no such email had been received. He said he would forward the email to me. This did not happen and just within the last 6 hours I finally received an email from Parcel Force stating the order was about to be shipped, which means they have only received the order from Shiny Bikes to come and pick up the groupset for shipment. Basically I have been lied to. I strongly urge you to spend your money elsewhere, as I cannot honestly state that this business conducts itself in an ethical manner. They are not long for this world I hope.

Lied about stock status, 3 week delay getting a refund

Ordered a frameset at £1100 from the website which said it was in stock. The money was taken from my account immediately but when I asked where it was 10 days later I was told that it would not even be in the country for another 3 weeks. I cancelled the order but nothing seemed to happen so I rang back 3 times to get confirmation that the order was cancelled and the refund being processed. Every time I rang back I found that the refund had not been made but was told it would be done right away. Eventually, over a month after taking my money and several phone calls later, the refund was processed.
I was lied to initially about the stock status and several times on the phone about getting a refund.
This company clearly cannot be trusted and has shocking customer service. I had to persevere just to get someone to answer the phone and every time I was told they'd ring back, they didn't bother.
Worst customer service I've had in a long time - and I've been dealing with energy companies recently. As Zammo so rightly put it - just say no.
Update after company response:
The above review is factually correct in every way, and I still have the email chain to prove it. Order was placed on the 9th October. I asked for an update on the on the 17th and the company responded on the 20th to say it was out of stock (first time I was told this as the website was incorrect). I cancelled and requested a refund on the 21st and after receiving no response, again on the 25th. I then made 3 phone calls and the refund was finally initiated on the 7th November (didn't get the actual refund until the 12th). None of this can be disputed.
I don't mind honest mistakes with stock status - it can happen to everyone but the customer service response to the situation is what I have a problem with.

Billy we find your comments unfair and offensive. You were advised at the time of you placing the order that this frame was temporarily out of stock and that you had the option of a full refund or to keep on back order. When you stated that you wanted a refund, a refund was activated as requested. Unfortunately refunds can take 3-4 working days to hit your account once a refund has been activated.

Our phone line can be very busy at times we acknowledge this, but we will always ensure that all calls are returned the same day. When a member of staff had attempted to call you back a couple of times there was no answer.

Web site fibs about goods being in stock

I was about to order a new front light which nobody else has in stock except these guys. I haven’t used them before so had a quick google before placing my order. I found this review site. After reading the negative feedback I gave them a call to confirm that the light was in stock as their web site says. It isn’t. They don’t know when they’ll have it and weren’t at all bothered when I pointed out their web site says they have it and that I was about to part with money before sitting at the door thinking my goods were on route. Clearly not a one off error they intend to correct.
Thanks to everyone who warned about this type of behaviour and saved me some pain. I’ll wait until one of my usual online shops’ web site says they have the light in stock.

Unlike a lot of our competitors we have a phone line where people can call and order products over the phone and seek technical advice and product questions.

Unfortunately if we have just sold the last stock item over the phone and our staff have not updated the website quick enough we will show that the item is still in stock. This is usually a very rare occurrence and we have a dedicated member of staff that updates our website through the day.

Our staff were honest with your enquiry stating the item was out of stock thus inviting you to source elsewhere.

Terrible customer service - use wiggle.

Initial purchase was fine, the goods were competitively priced although dispatch was slow. I purchased a group set and many months later (but still well within the warranty period) one of the parts failed. I have since sent 3 e-mails with all the part details, receipts and warranty information and have not received one reply. I sent the faulty part back recorded delivery with a note explaining the case but have received no reply or replacement part. I called and was informed a manager would call me back to discuss but never received a call. My overall impression is they are dodging the issue. I am a reasonable consumer and if for any reason they can't replace the part I would understand but it's the complete lack of communication that is frustrating. In contrast ive already purchased a replacement part (brake mechanism) from wiggle which as usual arrived quickly. My advice is shiney bikes are fine if you want the best prices but if anything goes wrong with your product you will be left high and dry. For me it's just not worth the risk.

We are sorry to hear this Craig. We have a designated member of staff that deals with all warranty issues and liaises with the manufacturers.

Any products that are sent back to us faulty are processed and dealt with quickly, and are sent back to the UK importers service centre for that particular brand or product. Unfortunately that can take time especially if the service centres have a heavy work load.

Craig please email sales@shinybikes.com or call our store quoting your original order number and we will sort for you as a matter of urgency.

Was good once but no longer.

I've ordered a lot of kit from Shiny Bikes over many years, including a high-end frame, wheels and groupsets. Their prices are still competitive but their quality of service has deteriorated to the point that I will never use them again. My latest experience (in common with others posting here) is that they do not hold stock of items that appear to be available on their (new) web site. Nor do they refund payments they've taken, respond to emails or follow up on phone calls. I've had to raise a dispute on PayPal in an attempt to get my money back on my latest (and last) order. You've been warned.

Friendly staff, great service thank you guys

I left it to the last minute to check my bike over, realised I needed two need tyres pronto.., contacted shiny bikes who helped me out big time with next day delivery, can't thank them enough, I would never have made the sportive without their efficient service. Thank you shiny bikes, will be back, would highly recommend.

Shocking

Ordered a frame set, nothing at the time said it was out of stock, that was 4 weeks ago and I've still had nothing.

No email from the business saying the frame was on order, no reply to my numerous emails and social media posts, everytime I phone up I have to go through the same story (to the same person), I keep getting promised that it will here this week, yet nothing arrives and it's left to me again to find out what the hell is going on.

I'm sceptical I will ever see the bike or if I do what condition it will be in.

Shiny bikes, it isnt all about price, keeping your customers informed so they don't feel fleeced is a critical componant to business longevity and happy customers. Promising you will phone back and don't, promise the frame will be in and it isnt, not acceptable!

Fantastic prices and service!

Just took delivery of my new Colnago C60 bike with full Campag build and its stunning!

The guys at Shiny gave me great advice with bike position and set up quires I had. They were very helpful from start to finish even though at times I may have seemed to ask a 1000 questions about build kit. It was helpful that I could phone them and speak to them with any questions unlike a lot of other online companies.

To top it off their prices on the components were the best I could find and the build quality of the bike is fantastic.

I would highly recommend them as they know their stuff when it comes to road bikes. The only downside is they need to invest in a decent coffee machine for customers!

Avoid or it will cost you

I ordered a light from sh**y bikes, advertised £30 cheaper than elsewhere. Automated email said would process order when Payment received. (I had paid) after a few days I emailed to chase, no reply. After a few more days I opened a dispute through PayPal. Now a month later, no light, zero communication, but luckily as I paid through PayPal PayPal have now refunded me. Avoid this dodgy company, I had a lucky escape

Fast shipping, great prices, a little slow at processing.

After comparing prices on several online bike stores, I found that Shinybikes has the lowest price for the crankset and brakeset that I want.
I have ordered about 2 years ago from them and the experience wasn't great. They sent me wrong color item and the shipping was slow.

Now seeing that they have launched a new website, I decided to give it another try. I received no update for almost a week after ordering and paying, but they shipped my items quickly after I have sent a email asking them about the status.

Items arrived in Hong Kong in about 4 days. Everything are new and in the right color. Would definitely recommend them unless you are in a hurry. Saved over $100 USD on this order.

Excellent price and service

I have just received my Super record Groupset and Bora 35 Wheelset from Shiny Bikes. Excellent price and delivery within 3 days of ordering. Very helpful and knowledgeable staff. Wouldn't hesitate reccomending them!

Poor packaging, poor delivery & poor customer service

Ordered some Exposure lights and the price was lowered the following day on their web site. I had a friendly chat about this and fair play without prompt I was offered the difference in price as a refund. The goods then took nearly 3 weeks to arrive despite several assurances during additional friendly calls that the lights were on their way, as was the refund. When the goods arrived the packaging was simply a food box wrapped in tape and it was nothing short of luck that the goods weren't damaged.
6 weeks I've been calling and e-mailing. Not one e-mail has been responded to but I still get given friendly assurances that the refund is on it's way. I even accepted a compromise because they eventually said the initial lowered price was a mistake only to find a week later that the price had lowered even further, but still no refund in my account.
Clearly I have been strung out so I can't return and re order at the lower price and they have no intention of fulfilling their empty promises.
Great prices but don't expect comparable customer service and heaven help anyone who has a serious problem or return !

Warranty issue

Yes, dispatching is not a problem, but customer service is completely rubbish, I had problems with my Campag Ergos, had to ring/ email for days and days until I had a reply and wait for weeks until I had my Ergos back, I thought I would never receive them back...
In the future I will spend a few more pounds and get the benefit of a non frustrating customer service from any of the many other cycling shops.
