AVOID

AVOID - They’ve actually done a moonlight flit. Green flag dropped my car to them in February. From a timing chain repair adding on parts everytime I ring something else then they can’t get oil cap off so have to break etc claimed and charged for head skim….id go in and man in middle of photo by other review would state I had to buy this part, how much you going to give me for it. I asked some parts not to be fitted they went ahead without my authority £2400 bill CASH ONLY payment. I took car away supposedly fixed got down road drove like a tank..Took back again they sort wanted another £235. I let them have for another week excuses again wanting more money. Didn’t want to give any form of receipt for work. Took car away they left my water with no coolant in. Independent garage confirm NO WORK DONE IVE FULL PHOTO AND VIDEO EVIDENCE HEAD NEVER REMOVED….3 x letters before action…they refused to accept letters, no reply to emails…told me to get out of garage and take to court…I HAVE AND WON CCJ AGAINST THEM just about to issue high enforcement writ…….im sure they will try to set up elsewhere why would they just disappear clearly I’m not the first.

Act of kindness

I called in just to ask advice on fixing a number plate which had fallen off. One of the staff (Matt) took the time to fix it straight away which took about 15 mins, but then refused to take any payment at all, despite my attempts to pay for his time and expertise.
So spontaneous, kind, and very unexpected.

Avoided this place like the plague

Avoided this place like the plague. Sold my daughter a car that has been described as too dangerous to drive. My daughter was desperate as she is a carer for her disabled son, she drove it for six months with it regularly breaking down and smoke coming out of the exhaust (she put in over half a litre of oil a fortnight). The car is now undrivable we've paid almost a £1000 for four garage report required by the finance company (we are still paying). Absolute con job. I noticed there were some great reviews on Google, but anybody can paste even if they are fake (I'm not suggesting they are )

Worst garage experience ever

Worst garage experience ever! Do not take your car here.
It was sat on the road longer than it was in their garage. Poor communication from start to finish. Waste of money and my time.

Shirley Car Care good garage

My experience of Shirley Car Care was good. I had a problem with the automatic gear transmission and several garages did not want to deal with this problem. Shirley Car Care tested extensively to determine the exact problem and then told me the cost of the repair. I appreciated that they were willing to discuss this with me and to offer options. My car has been repaired and is running well. Based on my experience I would recommend them.

took my car in for a full service and…

took my car in for a full service and mot, and find out they left my oil cap off they admitted it was there fault and it had a grinding noise after breaks had been done. I took it back to see what the grind is and sorted it for me. and then i find they have not put the power steering fluid cap on properly and that has leaked all over it as well. I ring them to let them know to get told somebody else must of done it when you can't open the bonnet without been inside the car to open it, what a disgrace and i will not be taking my car in again and would not recommend this garage to anyone. and if you do make sure you check inside the bonnet before you leave as cost me over 50 quid to sort out there mistakes without them offering refund. poor

trusted people , I had an exhaustion pipe problem . told them about the problem , they inspected the car and was fixed in no time . would highly recommend this place.

I had a full service and a couple of…

I had a full service and a couple of small jobs carried out earlier on in the year. The garage kept me informed for the entire time my car was with them, even sending me photos of the issues they had identified which I found incredibly useful - it filled me with confidence that they were being transparent with me about the work being done, which unfortunately some garages are not. As I was so impressed with the work done (and the price), I returned a month or so later for my MOT which also went smoothly too and was very reasonable. I had a further issue with my front wiper blade motor this month so I contacted the garage for their help again. Unfortunately I was unable to drive my car to the garage safely in the recent bad weather so George kindly offered to collect my car from my house to fix the issue. As always he was efficient and knowledgeable. The motor was replaced the same day and my car was returned to my house - I can't ask for better service or a friendlier team (George especially!) and definitely intend on returning for any future services I need. Thank you!

Shoddy work

I had a front coil spring fitted to my Ford KA as the mechanic said that the original had snapped. After fitting a new one I was still getting a knocking noise and it went back to the garage, when I collected my car the manager said that whoever investigated had to cut the spring as it was too long and was knocking on the bodywork? I was still getting the knocking and my car kept coming back into the garage. Eventually the other manager of the business investigated and said it was the brakes and they needed replacing. I was getting frustrated at the lack of information and no resolution so I booked my car in with a Ford mechanic who changed the brakes even though they didn't need replacing, he also had to replace a wheel stud as it had been chewed, total £90 + During the last MOT he noticed that the spring had been cut and asked what happened. I explained that your garage had cut it and he said it was should not be cut as it was dangerous. I have recently had the spring replaced at a cost of £136.52 and when the mechanic removed the spring he noticed that the top hats had been cut. .
My partner had to get her Llambda sensor replaced on her Subaru which the manager had said had been removed and cleaned but the light was constantly on. When she had it replaced at a different garage the mechanic said it had never been removed! Whoever replaced her shock absorbers had also messed the bolts that hold the shock absorbers as she has had to get new ones fitted. Her headlight has had to be replaced due to clouding because Shirley Car Care had left the cap off the rear of the light.
Hence why we no longer give them our business. I know the father of the current managers worked hard to build a good reputation but I fear that the reputation of Shirley Car Care has diminished. We recommended them to several people but unfortunately have no confidence in doing so any longer and they have lost regular custom.
