The laptop is working but...

The laptop is working, but I find it less satisfactory in three ways. The scroll bar has become thin and harder to use. Instead of attractive screensaver views I now have a nasty blue swirl. It is difficult to follow the obscure sequence of actions to switch off. I am away next week, but might visit you later to seek improvement.

Finally, a Company You Can Actually Trust 💯⭐

Brian was incredibly professional, knowledgeable, and, most importantly, he was honest. He took the time to explain that an upgrade I was considering wouldn’t be cost-effective, rather than pushing unnecessary work. That level of transparency is rare these days and speaks volumes about the integrity of the company.

I highly recommend SimplyFixIt to anyone looking for reliable and trustworthy service. Honesty is a priceless quality, and Brian exemplifies it.

Thank you again, Brian 🙌⭐

Exceptional service, and at a very reasonable cost!

I’ve got an older laptop that was beginning to overheat, and I knew that if I didn't get something done quickly, then it was likely that I'd damage the processor beyond repair. Most companies I spoke to said that the laptop was too old, and recommended buying a new one. I didn't want to do that, and was delighted to be pointed towards SimplyFixIt, who absolutely nailed it, and went beyond my expectations, and at an extremely reasonable cost! They cleaned out the inside and repasted the processor and tested it, and when I received it back the same day, it was so clean that it looked as if it was brand new again! I’m extremely happy, and recommend their services to anyone who wants to refurbish an old PC at a very reasonable cost, and get it back to its original running condition!

Customer service extremely variable

Customer service extremely variable. went in to Bruntsfield branch as battery failing on Iphone11 - they changed the battery very speedily, no questions asked for a cost of £60. When I returned to ask whether it was normal to see only a very marginal improvement after replacing battery I was told my phone was old, I was running too many aps and basically I should buy one of their reconditioned phones instead. Some staff are helpful, some are curt, unhelpful and impatient. If I buy a replacement phone I'm afraid it wont be from them

Lack of interest/bad customer interface

First of all, guy at the counter complaining he had to do everything himself. Then having left my laptop on October 1st and needing it by latest the 9th ( I was very clear about why this needed to happen) it wasn't ready. Came back to Edinburgh two days early from London so I could work to important deadline over the weekend only to discover they close at the weekend! They dont specify which 5 days they are closed on their notification...what shops close on a Saturday? Wrote to suggest they are clearer about this. No reply. Collected my laptop today, explained what had happened. No acknowledgement or apology but a mumbled ' will tell the people responsible' but of course we know theres only one person as he had made that very clear on day 1. Will not be using this place again.

Experts? Bad advice....

Went into shop looking for help, told them my iMac 2017 27 inch 5k won't Boot and internal hard drive didn't appear in Recovery Boot. I asked can I run the iMac of an External SSD drive loaded with the Startup and Mac OS. The two men (assuming owners and technicians) both told me Mac's don't allow it and it can't be done.
I then asked whether they could replace the internal hard drive - again they said the screens would likely break when opening up. I left the shop with no options.
Turns out with a few more Duckduckgo searches - it was easy - buy an External SSD - format it - go into Recovery Mode and install the approp. Mac OS and away you go - £120 for a 2TB.
Crap advice from the Simplyfixit experts.

I have called this morning

I have called this morning. First had to look up tel no. Let them know that on web tel no that called saying” not in operation”. Was thanked. . He would pass to the Owners. Explained as a few friends have used for different hard and software issues over the years. He said well we can’t hep with software issues I also said had hardware issues. I asked for recommendations for “ software issues” he the came with ace. Which really is an insult- basically a sort of utube video. I called back again asking for guidance. Spoke to the same person, asked Brian( don’t know spelling) I asked and explained. He said look big queue of customers here in the shop now, so go to Registars house, didn’t know who was working for, sort off block

name etc if you want to know owner and can help,! I get this but we used this company and also asked him re my fix for my laptop. Really bad service. Bryan, was clearly rude and not helpful. He said Easter weekend and busy. Perhaps not best as customer facing . Really might have a certain rating on trustpilot for something’s however, pretty bad Simply fix it at obviously support /selection/training in this instant. . Would be good to receive back from owners rather than register house to find . Thanks. Feedback important. Takes time. I get it customer service. I hope you understand too.

It’s taken a while to put in this review but hopefully helpful. I only hope that this helps.

Mac laptop needed updat

I recently collected my Mac laptop from SimplyFix, and I wanted to share my experience. The issue was that the laptop displayed a restricted sign and required an update, which I couldn’t manage myself as I’m new to using Mac laptops. The laptop is second-hand, and while the company I bought it from provided some instructions, I was unable to follow them successfully.
I took it to SimplyFix, and while they resolved the issue, they charged me £150 just for running an update. I understand that expertise costs money, but £150 for an update feels excessive. When I mentioned this to them, they justified the price by stating they deal with £3000 laptops. However, I couldn’t see how that was relevant to my second-hand laptop, which doesn’t even cost £1000.
This experience left me feeling disappointed and upset. While I accept that it was my decision to leave the laptop with them, I believe they could have reduced the price once they identified the issue. Unfortunately, I won’t be returning to this shop in the future.

Great Service

This is a customer friendly, service orientated local business. I would recommend them to anyone. They diagnosed the problem with my laptop, checked out other factors on the spot and order the parts, so that I could still use it until the part arrive.
They called me and fixed it within 24hours.
Great Service. Thank you.

SimplyFixIt offers a mixed bag of…

SimplyFixIt offers a mixed bag of experiences. On the positive side, they can provide excellent, speedy service with knowledgeable staff, especially when it comes to data recovery or upgrading systems. Their convenient location and quick turnaround for services like operating system upgrades are also commendable. However, the experience can be inconsistent, as some technicians come across as disinterested and unhelpful. Overall, they are an alright choice for tech support, but experiences may vary depending on the branch or staff member.
