Beware if buying furniture.

Beware if buying furniture.
I asked eta before purchasing a lounge suite end of April was told it would be here start may, it wasn’t after multiple times contacting them as no communication from them even when said they will be sending out emails to let people know when due in. Got to end of July still no sofa, in end asked for refund as need a sofa now not next year or if ever? Was then told the orders before us were just coming in now so ours might be 2 weeks, no thanks will spend my money somewhere with better customer service.

The issue was a delivery date

The issue was a delivery date and it was quite clear that there were issues somewhere in the Smiths City process. BUT to the credit of the wonderful Gurpreet in your Colombo Street store she saved the day, saved Smiths reputation and saved the sale. Thank you Gurpreet, Great job, well done to you.

Complete waste of time…

Complete waste of time ordering furniture online from Smiths City. Not only have I now waited over 15weeks to receive my order that was supposedly only 6-8weeks away but you receive exactly zero communications from them. I have had to reach out and follow up EVERY time to get an update from them to only be told about some delay or another (items were shipped to the wrong store, a Harvey Norman apparently, then subsequently damaged and need to be replaced). I wasn't in a rush for my furniture but at this rate it will be half a year before it gets delivered if ever. Just shop elsewhere if you actually want to receive what you paid for in a reasonable time frame.

Honestly feels like a scam

Waste of time. Ordered a lounge suite online during their easter sale.
Emailed before hand asking on the eta, was told 2-3 weeks. Perfect so I purchased it, we are 8 weeks later now, every week I've been having to follow up with them. They did not once contact me to let me know about delays or disruptions. I've been mucked around via email every week, they keep saying they are contacing supplier then I never get a response back hahahha. I even got accused of lying on week 5 that I've never contacted them before! Haha! I've asked for a DISCOUNT AND how lovely of them not to charge me for my delivery! (yknow cause it hasn't been delivered) and I had to call their finance team and said stick the 60 days interest free up yourselves and they so gracefully said I don't need to pay interest until my couch is delivered. Pretty pathetic. Here we are, 8 weeks late, they're having another sale on the same lounge suite when they haven't even fulfilled the sale from 2 months ago. still no ETA, no discount or remedy and no help.
I even explained we have just had a baby and I tell you, the floor is pretty uncomfortable to feed the baby on! Thanks Smithcity for being the biggest waste of time.

Very happy customer

Very happy customer, Brought three items. The start to finish was so good and easy. Took the tv with me as this could fit in my car. Picked delivery day and was called half an hour before they arrived, the guy was friendly and happy (My son was home) the guy advised me on the phone that he was working alone that day, so my son happily helped him bring the items inside. Will be using them again! Happy as with the product's too, and all on clearance too! Win win!

bought a dishwasher online from this…

bought a dishwasher online from this store. That got delivered this morning. Upon opening and fitting, I realized it was a used product, not brand new that I paid for. There were water marks in the machine and food debris in filters. Upon contacting multiple numbers and being mucked around here and there, I was told to email them the pics. To which they said it was machine testing. But how would they explain debris on the filters. Hopeless people.

Purchased TV

Purchased TV - waiting 4 weeks for delivery and installation, no communication just excuse after excuse!! really unhappy with Smiths City, wish I had gone to another store, there are plenty to choose from.

If I could give minus stars I would

If I could give minus stars I would. Spent over 5k on oven bought online. More than a month later I still don’t have it. Call centre doesnt seem to deal with online orders so they ‘pass the message on’ to the team that does. Emailing them gets you no response. Thought I was buying from a reputable store. Will not be buying there again.

Smith City!!

We went to Smith City to get a fridge as ours broke. We first went to a competitor and was advised that the fridge was to be ordered in. So we went to Smith City and looked at the exact make and model. We advised them that we need this in a hurry due to the circumstances. We were advised that, as they had it in stock, the latest delivery date would be seven days but almost guaranteed to get in 4. On the seventh day, I called them to find out when it will be delivered ad was promptly to, "Oh it's on back order so we will be advised when it comes in". No cares, no nothing. Smith City - I have always been weary of you, but decided to give you a chance. Guess I was always right. A bunch of useless sweet talkers. Never again.

Ordered a fridge Tuesday was told it would be dropped of Friday morning rang at 9am was told 12 lunch time still no call so rang at 1.30pm was told it was on its way now 4pm after having to cancel appointments miss out on my daughter's swimming I'm absolutely pissed what is a simple phone call and a rough time for delivery sort your communications out smiths absolutely crap

Fabulous service by Tayla

I have recently moved to the South Island from Melbourne. I had not heard of Smith City. After doing research online I approached their Colombo Street store.
Both visits I received fabulous service. Today Taylas service was above and beyond. I entered to store flustered and anxious. Tayla listened to what I needed was friendly and respected that I was on a budget. I walked away with a fabulous vacumme (Samsung Jet 95) and a Microwave (Panasonic) perfect for my pantry at a really good price. Tayla went above and beyond and even helped me carry the items to the carpark.
Smith City is a great store with great products. You guys are very lucky to have Tayla. It's hard to find people who actually care about the customer. Tayla knew what I needed but she didn't try and "upsell" she really listened to me and respected the budget I had. That meant a lot to me.

We are in Auckland & wanting to buy a fridge in the easter weekend, searched & Smith City's deal was even better than Costco. We bought online & didn't realise there is no store in Auckland, was a bit worried & searched the stores, then saw this review website, which made us even more worried. But the experience was actually quite good, we received the fridge 3 days later after easter holiday, was notified before delivery & received emails notifications after purchase.The only down side was the waiting time when calling customer service to confirm stock was a bit long, otherwise it is all good.

Absolutely awful customer service

Absolutely awful customer service. The worst I've experienced, and I'm in my 50s!
I purchased an LG dishwasher a year ago and it has broken down twice. So far the washer has been out of action approaching 3 months of the 12, and still counting.
The repair and assessment process takes weeks and weeks. Awful service with no ownership at all from Smiths City, Northwood.
I'm currently fighting to get the unit replaced, but the staff at Smiths City simply play a game of pass the parcel, never taking ownership and never getting back to me, with almost zero record keeping on computer and no internal communication. It's like Groundhog Day everytime with these guys. So frustrating!
Simply appalling service, process and attitude. Zero sincerity and effort every time. Is there a No Star option to tick?
I really dont like complaining or writing bad reviews. I would much prefer to give positive feedback, as I'm in the sales and service game myself. But something is terribly wrong with this company's culture.

Beware gift cards

We wanted a new coffee machine and saw smiths city had some on special. We got gift cards and tried to order online.nothing on card said cannot be used online but smiths city will only allow redemption in store. There are no stores north of Rotorua so the cards are hopeless for most New Zealanders.also 12 mth limit very poor.
This should be clear in the conditions that the Smiths city online store is NOT a store.probably needs ComCom intervention!

Never buy any stuff from smithcity

Never buy any stuff from smithcity. I was waiting 2 weeks for my order when I ring them they were telling order is out of stock and no predictions when it comes back. When I ask about a refund she was telling that she can't do anything but I have to email. I sent a email of a refund but never got feedback. Still waiting for my refund but i haven't got even a confirmation of a email from them yet. When I call today for customer service she hangup

Amateur hour

I purchased some goods today from this company (click and collect) and I was perfectly able to do so using their online system.

In calling their online team to follow up on my order I was constantly reassured that my call was important please hold the line or select a number for a callback. I held the line for 25 minutes and then succumbed to resignation and left my number for a callback.

My goods which I'd been perfectly able to purchase online with no kind of caveat were meant to be available for me for pickup at the Bethlehem store.

So I rang that store and asked if I could have my goods available for pickup.

They told me that I could not. I have to go through the online team and unfortunately since it's New Years Day they are not at work they won't be at work tomorrow and I could try my luck on the third of January.

When I asked why that information wasn't available online because had I known that I could have purchased from Noel Leeming I was told "go ahead and buy from Noel Leeming then".

When I said how could I do that I've already purchased from you they said "we will give you a refund."

"Thank you give me a refund" I replied to which the response was "oh, to do that you need to contact the online team but they are on holiday today and tomorrow and you might try them on the following day."

I will never buy from this company again.

I will tell everyone I know of my poor experience with this company and advise them against buying with them.

A company which places no caveats on their purchases and which pretends to be available on a phone when actually they are on two days holiday is a complete amateur operation.

A company whose first response to a customer complaint is "go and buy from our competitor" instead of "how can we fix this for you" is clearly not a serious national player. No wonder they do not have a store in Auckland they could not stand the competition.

I recently made a purchase on smith and…

I recently made a purchase on smith and city, and I must say that my overall experience has been nothing short of disappointing. There are several aspects of this transaction that have left me thoroughly dissatisfied.

Firstly, despite placing my order online, it's alarming that my purchase has not even been dispatched after 3 weeks.

Equally frustrating has been the woeful state of communication from the customer service team. I have made multiple attempts to reach out via email and phone calls, seeking updates on the status of my order. Unfortunately, the response has been incredibly delayed, if received at all.

To compound matters, I have yet to receive my order, and the inability to get any concrete information on its whereabouts has left me in the dark. The fact that there seems to be a complete breakdown in communication regarding the delivery status is unacceptable.

Perhaps the most aggravating part of this ordeal is the apparent impossibility of canceling the purchase. In light of the extended delays and the overall lack of communication, one would expect to have the option to cancel the order and seek alternatives. Unfortunately, the system in place seems to be designed to further inconvenience customers.

In conclusion, my experience with Smith and city has been extremely disappointing.

Five star service

Five stars from me for excellent service, speedy communication and well packaged display TV delivered safely. Bought display TV sight unseen and it was as described. Amy is a keeper. Her communication and quick responses is second to none. Well done Smith City team. Now if you find the display samsung terrace sound bar I would like to purchase it….
