Over two days I went into the Nelson…

Over two days I went into the Nelson store of Smiths City 'just to look' at their array from fridge/freezers. I had already narrowed down the size needed, exterior colour and my most important feature a quiet running appliance.
Marcus approached me to assist and I was blown away by his sincere service. (Words I rarely use esp in a business setting. )
He listened to my requests, showed me features of a few models, the benefits and minus's of some, and then left me to think on it. Later that day I rung the store and said I would return the next day to hear one running, if that was possible. Yes, it was.
Upon doing this the following day Markus turned off other noises nearby climbing on a step ladder to facilitate this (air conditioning, other appliances etc.)
I enquired about finance options, delivery etc. The ease of arranging the sale was frankly unusual...no waiting around till Monday (i.e. Normal 'office' days) no difficult forms to fill in, no concerns about access on delivery...nothing to stress me
Throughout his demeanor was professional, efficient and humorous.

This staff member is a genuine asset to Smiths City Nelson.

Sold an "air fryer" that isn't an air fryer

Sold an "air fryer" on receiving and using it is not an air fryer but cunning use of words to trick the purchaser.
Russel and hobbs bench top air fry crispn bake.
Has an air fry function.
Company threw covid rules out on not accepting a refund.
Do not buy this product.
Suggestion is do not support this company as they will not support you.

Great product and service

I received the Ambler 5 piece dining table & chairs just over a week after purchasing it online. Its was very easy to set up. I am chuffed with the quality and durability of the table and chairs. To be honest it looks better than the pic on the website. Thanks Smith City for a sale that went through smoothly. Mary

Excellent service

Excellent service, I ordered Samsung Jet 90 Pet Handstick Vacuum Cleaner on Mon 30/8 I received a confirmation of my order instantly. Tue 31/8 promptly received an email to say that my order is on its way...WOW! As this is classed as an essential item I was still able to receive the vacuum during Level 4 lockdown in Aotearoa.

The vacuum arrived Wed 1/9 around 8am (can I add that this was delivered from Rotorua) Thank you so much having a clean home again is such a dream. I will order again.

No I would give smith city no stars.not good enough smith city.

Would have given no stars as they advertise products they don't have in stock but still take your money online then they give you a rough estimate of time to expect your item and when that time comes they can't give u a ETA so u ask for a refund with no refund yet you guy's are a joke and pretty sure you can't advertise a product when you have no idea when the item will arrive im with these guy's im not buying from yous ever again. 😉

We have paid full price order one…

We have paid full price order one message chair wait for two month, they said when it arrive will call us, nothing happen untill we call them, then arrage a deliver time, was one of the friday no deliver no phone call no nothing, and we call them again they said will deliver following monday, and we wait for half day no deliver no phone call, call them again, said they busy will deliver coming wednesday. We fell very very very disappointed , no more no more shop at this crap again

Great service

Great service. Stefan at the Wanaka branch was very helpful and efficient. This is a small store, but they had the right product for me in what was an emergency situation. Friendly and efficient. Many thanks guys.

Bethlehem branch disappointing

I went into the Bethlehem branch to buy a pram with accessories and other items.
No one was interested in helping me, I am 30 weeks pregnant and would have hoped for some sort of service/help for getting heavy items down from shelfs and showing me the the pram I was there to purchase, there where no other customers in store for most of this time.
After 20 minutes and still no help or acknowledgement a young white couple walked in to look at the same area, right away some one was over to help them they walked out soon after.
I put this down to being on my own without my husband and my ethnicity.
After no help I looked on line and called another company who had the items I wanted to purchase the lady was very helpful and talked me over the products and warranties while I looked at them in your store.
I bought them off her over the phone before I left.
I suggest that if you are ethnic shop elsewhere for your baby needs as you won’t get help here😂

Recliner Chair

Brought our elderly Mum a recliner for her rest home room 3 years ago has a 5 year warranty on frame, this has now broken on one side, only held together by plywood, not fit for purpose, we have asked to have it fixed under warranty but Smiths declined by Christchurch branch, said 87 year old Mother broke it, she weighs 50kilo, has no strength to break this chair, they refuse to answer any of my queries , or get anyone to come and look at it, only comment was go to Fair Go, so may have too!

Keep saying next month on order

Bought a lounge of them. Was told it would be 6 weeks. 3 months later still no lounge. Told to wait another month again. Going in to get money back. Crap service and rubbish staff. Northwood super centre chch.

What absolute rubbish service Smith…

What absolute rubbish service Smith City provide. No! They don’t care about your call. You can try all day. The music they play is far from soothing. In fact even more stressful. When eventually you get through says leave a message. Yeah right still don’t phone back.

Appalling

I put in an order for a dryer through your website last Saturday. It was showing in stock. However I received an email a day later saying that you are out of stock and the order is with the supplier. To get an idea what kind of timeframe we are looking at I called your 0800 number. These calls go to your physical store in Petone, who then tell me that they cant find out the status and it needs to your online team. The only way you can reach your online team is by calling your physical store and let them inform the online team about your query!! Seriously!!! Then the online team then just drops a vague generic email with no specific details! After repeated calls, I still don't have a clue where things are at. Honestly my experience with shopping with you has been appalling, to say the least.

Dunedin branch good, online ordering bad

I recently had need to purchase a new oven. Smiths City had the best price I could find online. I emailed them first with a couple of questions prior to submitting my order and have just received a vague answer 9 days later. I'd already ordered the last oven in stock of that make available online from them in the meantime anyway.

I phoned after ordering to get an answer to my earlier question, but there was nobody available 'in that department', and despite a promise that they would get in contact with me, I've never received a response to that call to this day. I phoned again and was finally put through to their Dunedin branch.

What a difference! A big shout out to the staff member whom I dealt with in Dunedin, who advised me in future to order direct through the store. She was thankfully able to match up the last oven in stock with my order, and the oven was then promptly delivered from where it was held in a retail branch in another city.

So ... I highly recommend the Dunedin branch, but the Smiths City online ordering system/customer support is just useless.

Ashamed this is a New Zealand company…

Ashamed this is a New Zealand company by the terrible service and lack of accountability. The website is not kept up to date and says items are in stock when are not, and their reply its a mistake but we don't know when the stock will be in. The thing about mistakes they should happen once or twice what you have is a systematic issue with no care for your customers. The posts on their facebook page reflect this. I did however get offered a refund of my own money for the inconvenience, asked when that would happen the I don't know came out again. I will probably never shop with them again after this experience and would caution others from doing so as well.
