Works as promised...so far so good

I bought the sim off Ebay...it came fast and I was a bit nervous when registering because of their needs for credit/debit card data however I decided to take a chance...it's been 2 weeks and so far so good. My first attempt was to use an older unlocked S7....somehow it worked at first and stopped working. The support group at Speedtalk came up with a good suggestion and it's worked great since. As well they've accommodated me on extras on my account so I'm looking forward to long term.
Their usage display is fantastic...best I've ever encountered!
However their updated accounting display lacks the $ amounts which I found really useful and comforting.
Quality of service has been excellent.

Smells like a scam

Smells like a scam! I purchased a SIM + plan (prepaid) on eBay through PayPal. Charge went through and I received my SIM card about 10 days later. Went to the website to activate my SIM card, entered the data, and they said they would email me a PIN. It never arrived. I called customer service, gave them the same information the website ask for, but they also wanted a credit card number. I said it was unnecessary as this was a prepaid plan. They said they could not activate my SIM without a credit card. Obviously, they had no intention of sending me a PIN to activate my account and I'm certainly not going to give my credit card information to an Indian call center who will turn around around and sell it to God knows who. Been there, done that. That's why I always go through PayPal where there are protections against these types of scams.

*** Update as of Saturday February the 5th, 2022: Speedtalk-GSM-T General Case #1346469 Ent:00133

Speedtalk sold me a sim that worked on my phone for a while, then it quit working. I asked for a refund, I was told that I "no longer qualify for a refund as there is usage on your account" but they offer to disconnect the number... How that helps me? At this point, I can't use
the phone I used all this time is is not VoLTE compatible. How is that possible? From one moment to another a phone to become VoLTE incompatible. Poor customer service, its final response was "Let us know if you need us to disconnect the account"... How would that action help me? Is this the only service speedtalk offers, disconnecting the account?
Disappointed. For any customer who considers using speedtalk, better give your money to an animal shelter than donate it to speedtalk.

*** Update as of Saturday February the 5th, 2022: I contacted the email you left on your response several times with all kind of updates: Speedtalk-GSM-T General Case #1346469 Ent:00133. NOTHING has been done for me. Not even a response from speedtalk's marketing team. I still have the "No Service" on my upper left corner on my phone. Speedtalk is just responding to these reviews to pretend they care, but in fact, the company couldn't care less. Complete SPAM!! Speedtalk, at least refund the money if you are incapable of providing sevice!

Prepaid card is a scam

Got a prepaid card as a gift. Tried to activate upon arrival in USA and failed. India call center gave various excuses:.....I needed some kind of amazon order number, card was expired(said it was valid until 2022 right on it) etc. Long story short: Scam.

SpeedTalk customer service going downhill

I've used SpeedTalk Mobile since 2016, when I got my first smartphone. I have a plan where I pay and then use up the money on minutes/text/data.
Unfortunately SpeedTalk customer service has been getting worse the last few years and has reached the point I'm ready to look for an alternative. They have never let me know when I was low or out of minutes - they could easily set up an automated system to send an email or text, but no.
There have been a few times when I had to call customer service to help with a refill. One time I chose "stacked" and it didn't apply the plan when my current one ran out! It turned out it was waiting till the end date which was months away. They just don't seem to understand basic customer service.
I would go to their site to check my balance and order a refill. I didn't know I had run out of balance until I saw the $5 charges on my credit card.
Today I went to their site and they had changed it and it no longer shows the dollar balance. I had to call customer service and spend an hour finding out where that screen is, and it shows only minutes and megs used, not the remaining dollar balance.
I asked the customer service rep to stay on the line while I refilled and sure enough, that didn't work either. I filled in the fields and clicked Submit and nothing happened. Twice. Luckily he was able to refill it for me on the phone.
I'm in one of the biggest crunches in my life with a mile-long list of tasks, and SpeedTalk takes up my time for basic things they don't do. They don't respect me or my time, and I'm looking for an alternative.
The 3 stars is for their service up to now.
------------------------
This is the only way I can see to respond to Speedtalk's reply.
You say you have a system to warn customers when their balance is low. In five years I've never seen it.
Even if that could be fixed, what about not being able to refill my plan on the website? I filled in every field. None of them lit up in red. I pressed Submit and nothing happened, twice. So I would have had to call support for that.
I've always refilled online before and now you've taken that away. You're going backwards.
There was nothing wrong with the customer service person, except he kept trying to interrupt while I talked. I was the one who was upset and ranting. He was patient and supportive and I appreciate him.

Hi Julia! We are so, so sorry to hear that you had a poor experience with our customer support team and with your account. We have been making some changes to our site and we completely hear your frustrations with the new layout in being able to find your monetary account balance.

We want to let you know that we do have an automated system set up to notify customers of when their account is due for a refill however it seems like there may be a technical glitch or something going wrong that we would love the chance to be able to make right for you. We sincerely apologize for this inconvenience and we have put in a request to our technical team to review the new account structure and make changes to better accommodate our customers needs. In regards to your poor experience with one of our customer support staff, we would also like the opportunity to make this right if you would allow us the chance to do so?

If you would be so kind as to send us an email us with your SpeedTalk Mobile phone number, and email address on the account, as well as the time of your call to our support team yesterday, we will look into the call for quality control in order to assure this does not happen again. Our team will be awaiting the info to send to our customer support managers asap: marketing@speedtalkmobile.com.

We sincerely appreciate your loyal patronage and we hope that we can resolve the issue and make it up to you!

Edit:
Hi Julia, it seems we cannot message you here or accept messages from you here, but we would really love the chance to make this right for you and resolve your issues. As we mentioned in our reply above, we have submitted your feedback to our development team to rebuild a way to show monetary value on the customer accounts alongside minutes and data usage. We apologize that we mistakenly suggested that anything went wrong with your customer service rep and we are glad to hear that he was helpful to you. Please know, we are working on a solution to the best of our abilities and we hope to have the account/refill issue resolved asap. We have taken your review very seriously, and are working to make the set up better for all of our customers. In regards to our automated text system, this one has us stumped. We would appreciate the opportunity to figure out why you are not receiving automated notifications as we have not gotten this concern from any other customers thus far. If you could please email our development team with your SpeedTalk Mobile phone number, and email address on the account, we will get this fixed for you immediately. You can reach them through marketing@speedtalkmobile.com.

We greatly appreciate your patience and we hope that we can resolve this for you as quickly as possible.

This was easy to use. I really like that they give you an area code that is in your local area. Customer service quickly responds to emails. Works great for my daughters smart watch.

I paid for a 30 day prepaid sim card- it was easy enough to insert and start up but I was thereafter, for the entire time I used it, harrassed by callers trying to either sell me sex or just messages with vile language. Now, three months later, I have discovered that the company has kept charging me as per their T @Cs, which say that they don't need a contract with me to do so! Very unethical and I recommend you stay well clear of this thieving company

Hi Tanja,

We are so sorry to hear about your experience with us here at SpeedTalk Mobile. Please understand this is not the type of customer service quality that we aim to provide. In regards to your account being charged, please note that per your sign-up agreement, automated refills are charged to your account which you then have the ability to cancel/skip at any time. Without notice of cancellation, your account will be refilled with the plan that you initially picked upon signed up per our agreement. In regards to you receiving spam calls, we sincerely apologize for any frustrations this has caused you. Your phone number is automatically generated under the service provider, this is not something that we can predict up front.
However, we are always more than happy to help get this resolved by issuing a new number or cancelling the account with proper notice based on our terms and conditions. With that said, we would be glad to help resolve the issues on your account for you. Highly recommend

It was super quick and easy to activate the SIM and get my phone up and running on the SpeedTalk network. I'm on the $7.50/month plan - the other great thing is that there aren't really any hidden fees. I literally only pay $7.50/month, no extra taxes or anything.

Works like a charm

Works like a charm. Only $7.50, so pretty decent value for what you get. I chose the unlimited 2 plan, which is good enough for me now that the COVID thing is all up.
