Rude and unhelpful
I took my children to Squire’s Garden Centre in Washington, West Sussex so we could buy a fish tank in the aquatic section. I asked the young guy there for some advice on which tank to get, as I know little about having fish, and his attitude was quite rude, he basically said for us to read up on how to look after fish before getting any…. and didn’t really want to help or sell me a fish tank, but I got one anyway as my children were excited to get one, that’s why we were there. When I paid for it at the main till, the old woman on there asked if my children wanted to enter “a growing the biggest sunflower” competition and I said No because I know that my children weren’t interested, they just want to get the new fish tank ready. The old women then got the knock and said “well, I meant for the children, not you! ….. how very rude was that. I won’t be going there again…. we will get our fish from somewhere else.
Great service
Had a lunch with friends today at Squires in Washington and served by the lovely Eddie who was friendly and entertaining. He saw us pushing heavy trollies around afterwards and pushed one to the cashier then unloaded it directly into our car boots. Thank you Eddie. That was beyond the call of duty and much appreciated. Squires now my must go to garden centre.
Stale scones
Squires Ottershaw. We chose this branch of Squires based on some positive feedback from friends. We went to the cafe & ordered drinks & scones and was asked to pay upfront . After a long wait, a waitress asked if we had ordered. We confirmed we had quite a while ago. The order arrived with an apology but the scones we ordered were stale and had obviously been stored in a fridge. After asking for a refund, we were told by a ‘manager’ that they couldn’t do a refund in the cafe & that another manager would have to process the refund at the shop till. No apology given for the experience. Needless to say we won’t be returning.
Over and above for customer service
The team at Squires (especially Zach at Frensham) were extremely helpful. We needed a large item that wasn’t in stock at Farnham, Zach drove to Milford branch and delivered the item to a pub near Hindhead for a leaving do. Well over and above customer service. Always so helpful and friendly team! Thank you
Great staff in Godalming branch
Just visited the branch in Portsmouth Road Godalming and it was Great! We ate in the restaurant and food was excellent. The waitress also picked up on the fact we were shading and got us extra plate! At thd tills also we were offered a boot tidy as we had bought a few plants. Great service and good customer experience all round, staff were friendly and helpfull, well done.

I have visited Squires Heathlands Rd Wokingham for the past two weekends. Last weekend for breakfast, absolutely delicious, and this weekend for lunch, again absolutely delicious, beautifully presented and perfectly cooked. The atmosphere was lovely, the surroundings beautiful and the staff were a delight . Thank you all, we will certainly be returning and highly recommend a visit .
Visited Squires Stanmore on our 45th wedding anniversary
Visited Squires Stanmore, on our 45th wedding anniversary with our friends. Booked online and all was fine.
Arrived at the venue and was eventually seated with an apology that they were short staffed.
No problem, and we decided to order, because we had already decided what we were going to have. Unfortunately, we were informed that nothing in the MAINS menu was available. So we ordered starters and some of what was available, which was very little.
So we asked the young lady to tell us what was available and ordered soup, toasted ham sandwich, avocado salad and baked potato with chicken for of us.
The soup arrived but no bread, the toasted ham and cheese were okay, the avocado salad had more greens than avocado and the baked potatoes was over baked and solid.
Eventually I was able to get the attention of one of the servers to find out where the toast was that went with my soup. She apologised and said that they were short staffed and overwhelmed and overworked.
I really felt for them and at the same time our meal was spoilt.
We were also informed that if we wanted hot drinks and cakes we will have to wait until they finished serving other tables.
We understood their predicament and decided that it wasn’t worth waiting and we left. Extremely disappointed on our day out.
We always enjoyed our visit to Squires for over 20 years and we’re always pleased with their products services and the cafe.
We are hoping that the staff situation will be resolved soon before they loose their loyal customers
Woking Cafe
We enjoyed lunch in the Cafe. Quality and quantity of fish and chips, salmon salad and burger excellent, Sweet yummy., Coffee very good, Service basically fine but water had to be asked for twice. Very pleasant atmosphere and comfortable. Good value. Visit regularly
Some menu items not available....not unusual with COVID and BREXIT.
Shop had wide and interesting stock, Can be pricey.
Really disappointed
Purchased plant 13/9/21. So sad it did not thrive.
Tried to return it today, only to be told 'take it home, replant it and see what happens in the spring'
So much for the guarantee
.
What great service
What great service. Today we had delivered 6 bags of top soil and as my husband is 85, the delivery man, Richard, very kindly carried them up the hill to our house and all the way into the garden. Many thanks

Garden centre is lovely with a great choice of gifts. So much more than a garden centre. Will definitely return.
Great place to eat & relax
So, i am presently eating lunch that wasnt planned or booked for, at Squires in Shepperton, i arrived at 12.30, its now 1.15 & getting busy in the cafe. I was in the store getting wild bird seed-which by the way is a new range & very reasonable. I was welcomed in the Cafe Bar, by a gentleman, its usually a lady who knows me by sight. Always very friendly here, this is the best store & cafe bar, i have been to a few & none are like this one! Staff pleasant, store clean & tidy, food always great & reasonable prices. Nothing is too much trouble, customers made to feel like ‘one of the family’.
Fantastic Service at Squires Wokingham
Visited Squires Garden Centre in Wokingham yesterday - received brilliant service by two individuals in particular. I wish I had taken note of their names but I was preoccupied with a baby and a young child. The first slightly elderly gentleman helped me with finding a “bug house” for my little boy, whilst the second lady who was working on the tills (Op: 3364) went above and beyond in the torrential rain to help my kids and I with our purchases to the car. She was absolutely soaked but she stood calmly and attentively holding an umbrella for me so I could keep my children dry. She didn’t need to do that but I so appreciated it. Thank you so much. Fantastic service!

Cobham garden centre restaurant.
Unfortunately the coffee was Luke warm, so I would not recommend this restaurant.
Shambolic
Appalling attitude and service when interviewing young people for jobs. After going for his first ever interview a young candidate got no response despite repeated attempts and requests for feedback. All the manager could do on the third attempt of asking was to blame HR. As a loyal customer over many years, despite the inflated prices and poor service levels, I wouldn’t set foot in the place again.
Brilliant service from a first class garden centre
Having spent over an hour waiting on the phone with another company I gave up and called Squires at Twickenham to enquire after a large garden parasol. The phone was answered within 5 rings (amazed that they were not apologising for the delay due to a "high level of calls at this time"). I spoke to a lady (Julie or Judith) who was immediately able to check stock and confirm that they had exactly what I was looking for. I drove over and was assisted by another extremely helpful lady who organised the purchase and delivery of the parasol in record time. If only all shopping experiences were the same. WELL DONE SQUIRES -TWICKENHAM
Quality and hassle free garden furniture
I’ve given up doing reviews on other websites as honest negative reviews are taken down. So I wanted to make sure I made the effort to share praise when it’s thoroughly deserved.
I went into Squires at Stanmore to try get garden furniture, after an apparently reputable company failed to deliver garden furniture pre-ordered in March.I was immediately helped and advised by a really accommodating assistant. They have stock immediately available and said it could be delivered the next day. I had a text on the day to give a timeframe for delivery. The delivery guys were really helpful. And the furniture lovely quality and so comfortable. I can’t believe how hassle free it all was, after such a difficult time with the other online company. I would highly recommend Stanmore Squires for garden furniture
Stanmore garden centre staff need more training
I have visited the Stanmore garden centre a few times over the years and my recent experience wasn’t great. There are a limited number of staff that were knowledgable and helpful but I found most of the staff didn’t know much about the stock, where the items were kept and till staff were rude. As someone that was new to gardening, I felt a bit short changed with the level of service I got. The toll staff need to be more pleasant and helpful especially as staffing on the shop floor were limited.
Customer service, product knowledge and stock control are definitely things that this centre need to address. Especially as this centre charges above average prices for their products.
Poor service at Squires Garden Centre in Harrow
I live close by the Squires Garden centre in Harrow. I probably spend at least £1,500 per annum there as I have a large garden. In as much as I like the set up, I find the service and staff extremely disappointing ( except for one exceptional lady out with the plants). Recent experiences are:
1. this bank holiday, when we had exceptional weather, and probably the busiest period for most garden centres, there were long queues at the checkout where they had 3 till operators and 6 checkout counters. You’d think they’d have them more fully manned!
2. The till operators are the least polite and friendly. They have a COVID policy of rolling up your trolley and then stepping back. I had bought £500 of plants on a stacked trolley and the operator told me to step back and she would scan the products, only then to keep asking me how many of each plant I had! I explained that was I thought it would help her if I were to pass them to her for checking and she told me to step back so why then is she asking me how many of each I had when scanning! Far from being polite and engaging, she was rude and confirintational!
3. For the past two weeks, I’d been in at least 4 times each time looking for lawn seeding soil. Each time I asked when they’d be available, no body could tell me.
I need to buy another £500 of plants but still annoyed so will go elsewhere and probably won’t go back!!!
Also, you’d think they’d introduce a loyalty scheme like others! Perhaps they’re too profitable and don’t think they need to.
It reached me without any problems
It reached me without any problems. Before coming to the distribution, they notified the time by e-mail and arrived at the given time. I also ordered a potted plant. It came in a very healthy and vivid way. If you want to order a potted plant, you will definitely get peace of mind.
