I recently left a one-star review after a disappointing experience, but I feel it’s only fair to update this now that the situation has been properly resolved.

Lisa, the manager, personally stepped in and took the time to listen and address the issue thoroughly. Her professionalism, understanding, and genuine commitment to putting things right completely turned my experience around. It’s clear she really cares about both the customers and maintaining high standards.

Thanks to her involvement, what started as a negative visit has now restored my confidence in Squires Garden Centre. I’m happy to change my rating to five stars—credit where it’s due!

True incompetence and poor customer service

My husband and I visited a Squires garden centre in Berkshire and tried out a number of patio tables & chairs. We decided on one we liked, and were told it had to be ordered and it would be a a week and a half before it arrived. As we don't live super close by, the staff member and ourselves worked out when it would be delivered so we could plan to pick it up. The staff member 'absolutely guaranteed' it would be available by then.

When my husband went to collect it (this was 4 days after it was 'guaranteed' to be in), it had not been delivered. We'd received no communication, and the staff just said 'sorry, no delivery, we don't know why, and you'll have to wait until Monday to find out more' and that it wasn't a problem as it was still 'within the waiting time'. He left very unhappy with the service.

Come Sunday, he receives a call from the garden centre informing him that there was in fact no stock of the garden furniture so it would never have been delivered. Keep in mind, this was ordered through the Squires staff, and absolutely nobody followed up when it wasn't delivered or informed us. It wasn't discovered until we showed up to collect it!

There were many excuses and half hearted 'sorrys'. We were sold the floor model for a discount, with a refund due. However, the incompetence is truly astounding! And no goodwill gesture or sincere apology or responsibility taken.

I have been charged for the display model, but have not yet received my refund, so remain out of pocket.

My reliable local garden centres

I love these garden centres at Twickenham , Shepperton and Cobham. The plants are always healthy. The staff are helpful and friendly. All their goods are of a high standard.
It is always easy to park .

Oh dear

Oh dear. Went to Squires earlier this week and saw a Hozelock multi spray gun set for £19.99 reduced from the RRP -£39.99. Bargain !!! (I thought). Having bought one i went straight to B & Q for something and found exactly the same item with no offer for £18.

I phoned up about 15 kg calor gas…

I phoned up about 15 kg calor gas bottles to be told by a supervisor that they would cost £49.95 each however when I sent someone down to pick 2 bottles up they were charged £70 each I phoned them up only to be told that’s what she said earlier when I spoke to her on the phone which was rubbish she told me £49.95 otherwise I would have bought them somewhere else

Myfriend and I booked an afternoon tea…

Myfriend and I booked an afternoon tea on 12th feb at the squires garden centre in Stanmore .
Its was absolutely lovely the sandwiches were so fresh and the scones and cakes were perfect.
Lovely friendly staff;would definitely recommend it

My wife and I went there for lunch

My wife and I went there for lunch, (Badshot Lea) we got there at 11.55 and was told we couldn't order untill 12 midday but we could order drinks, so we did. Which we waited 20 minutes for.
We had there classic cheeseburger with chips, the chips were great but as for the burger it self that's a different story, the meat just fell apart and add absolutely no flavor whatsoever.
We will not be going back!!

Disappointed

Wasn’t busy so seated quickly. Order taken food received ….. all good so far. When it came to paying we were completely ignored, when I finally managed to get their attention it took another 20 minutes for anyone to bother to come and take payment. A young lad was doing his best but the two ladies dressed in black couldn’t have been less interested. Food was ok but we won’t return.

Appalling customer service

I had an appalling experience back in August where I was accused of killing an extremely expensive plant. They refused to listen or take any accountability so I left feeling very upset and disappointed. To add insult to injury, Im still waiting to hear back from them as I complained to head office on 26 Aug, 10 Sep, 17 Sep, 24 Sep and 10 Oct. Customer service is non existent. Extremely overpriced and happy to sell dead plants that you will get the blame for. I do not recommend this brand.

I brought my grandsons to the Halloween…

I brought my grandsons to the Halloween painting event & the treasure trail. The member of staff in charge of the events was extremely efficient, well organised & helpful & very patient with the children. The boys thoroughly enjoyed both activities as well as the children’s lunch in the cafe. Thank you to Squires for an excellent day out.

Sunday Brunch very disappointing

My friend and I decided to treat ourselves to a Sunday brunch as we had an extra hour today. I love Eggs Benedict so ordered this but can honestly say it’s the worst I’ve ever had. The sauce was much too thick, the egg yolks were hard and the ciabatta they were on was very hard and chewy even though traditionally it should have been an English muffin. Very disappointing.

The centre itself was nice to wander around but I’ll avoid eating there again.

I used to love breakfasts here and I…

I used to love breakfasts here and I would go every year for my birthday because I'm quite a picky eater and I loved how you could pick the 9 item breakfast and completely customize it and only have things you liked but now it has been changed and the main thing I loved about it has gone. Now it's just the same as any other breakfast place having a standard full English without any of the freedom of choice it used to have. It made me very sad when on my birthday I had the surprise of not being able to get what I loved. :(

Between breakfast??? Then the waitress decided to blank us and take orders from ppl who just walked in .... walked out and found a professional cafe down the road .

Extremely Disappointed

Extremely Disappointed
Only giving one star because I can’t give zero. Absolutely awful service bot lady couldn't care less. We arrived with plenty of time for breakfast (they stop serving at 11:30), but after seating ourselves as no one came over despite waiting with a toddler and my 90-year-old nan we were finally approached at 11:10, only to be told they weren’t doing breakfast because the kitchen was “too busy”! Lunch doesn’t even start until 12, so we couldn’t order anything but cake. Completely unacceptable. Very disappointing experience and we won’t be visiting again.

Cafe staff need customer service training …..

Sadly the cafe has gone downhill…. Have been coming to this garden centre for many years. A couple of months ago went into the cafe for a coffee and cake. First had to wait ages for a table even though it was not particularly busy. Once seated another long wait, had to call someone over to take my order. The women behind the counter where they make drinks were talking loud enough that I could hear them, they were criticising one of their colleagues. Eventually my cake arrived then another ten minute wait for my coffee. I could see it on the counter but no one brought it over to me. In the end, I got up and retrieved it myself!
Today I visited the garden centre again. Thought I’d have a drink before looking around. It was not busy and there was a lady waiting to be seated in front of me. Well we waited and waited, could see staff wandering around, but no one made eye contact with us. I gave up in the ended and decided to look around the shop. After about 20 minutes I thought I’d try again. Same thing - no service at all even though staff were visible. Waited about 5 minutes then gave up. It’s a pity as the garden centre is well stocked but have been put off going back due to lack of good customer service in the cafe.

Dismally Disappointing

Badly organised, poor staff, slow service. Pointless restaurant. You have to wait so long to be seated that they stop serving breakfast and then they expect you to wait another 30 minutes for lunch.

Senior staff belittling junior staff in the cafe

Normally I have a lovely time at Squires Long Ditton but on Saturday when I sat to have lunch I witnessed a senior member of staff belittling junior staff continually for no reason I could see. It seemed so uncalled for and especially in front of customers. I wish I had complained at the time, but wasn't sure if I would receive the same response from the senior member of staff. It made my visit very uncomfortable and left me concerned for the individuals.
