Not enough seats, just an endless circle of people looking to snatch a spare seat, it’s like musical chairs on a grand scale. Security is sloooooooooooow. Car parks are a rip off (£210 for two days... See more

Extremely rude male working personel…
Extremely rude male working personel (one person) with zero compassion and typical male anger issues ruined the entire experience at the airport. He should not be working near people, but unfortunately he is.
Signing at the airport showing the exit is horrendous, showing to the wrong door, only to get shouted at for trying to find the exit. "Walk to the desk!", "but the signs in the direction you're pointing show back around here", angry personel shouts "go to the desk!", but there's no desk visible from where the exit sign leads. I try to find the desk, which is further around a few corners, not visible from where the exit signs lead to. Meanwhile I hear him call me a stupid passenger for not listening to him. Being told to "go to the desk" when the exit signs point in a direction with no desk is confusing, and the exit-desk I was to go to only had an "information" sign. I sincerely hope other passengers stay away from this horrid airport as long as this guy is working there.
Shame about the aggressive manner of the security officer at the special assistance section.
Interactions with staff were lovely until I got to security. My hand luggage was filled with meds as a chemo patient, so I was getting wheelchair assistance. When my bag was chosen to be checked, the man seemed to take pleasure in ripping everything out before asking me where the liquid was. I said there was no liquid, so he gruffly said: a cream then. I politely pointed to a green refrigerated meds container, which he almost tore open, checked and then proceeded to throw everything from my bag into the airport tray. I found his manner and disregard for very important medications, which I had noted to the staff before it went through x-ray, to be completely unwarranted. It left a very unpleasant taste in what was an already stressful journey for me. The clue was in the need for a wheelchair and bald head. I was very disappointed and distressed afterwards.
Absolutely disgusting
Absolutely disgusting! Filthy cattle market. Cleaning staff and those supervising should be fired!
A very grubby airport
Firstly, if I could give a separate review for passenger assistance, I would give them five stars. Really helpful, friendly, folk in the airport and also at the Stansted Express. Special mention for Stephanie at the airport landside passenger assistance.
However, the airport itself is grubby, the toilets are disgusting. Even mid afternoon, there was rubbish everywhere.
There is clearly an inadequate cleaning regime in force.
Some negatives about the airside passenger assistance lounge, it has no rubbish bins, they had run out of water and, again the chairs need a darned good clean.
Always terrible and dirty
Always terrible, digusting toilets look like they never get cleaned, security are rude and slow, expensive to even drop someone off, queues far too long for passport control. Extremely unsanitary which is not at all nice when you are travelling.
Legalised Theft
This airport feels like a complete money grab at every turn. It’s dirty, with long queues, rude staff, and long winding pathways that force you through every aisle of duty free just to reach departures. Seating is scarce, and eateries have grossly inflated prices.
The parking charges are utterly disgusting. I dropped someone off at the express set-down zone today and was charged £10 for just three minutes. They’ve now removed the barriers, making it easy to forget to pay so they can slap you with a fine.
Any pleasure that once came with flying has been stripped away by Stansted. It’s a truly horrible airport with extortionate practices that really should be illegal. Even a trip to the dentist is more enjoyable than using this place and probably less costly.

I use this fantastic Airport all the time and lately the experience has been even more impressive. Bearing in mind they are in the middle of a massive development programme the Staff are dealing with about 100,000 Passengers per day. So, you only have to arrive at security three hours before, wait 40 minutes before your airline gives you an applicable Gate number it’s not exactly rocket science.
Ryan Air (who I never use) are the only fly 🪰 in the ointment. So it’s simple, stop whinging and fly with someone else.
Stansted Airport is making top drawer improvements and users must not get distracted by the Airline they fly with. Keep it up Stansted Customer Services you are doing an excellent job.
Be careful
Be careful! If you forget something at the airport they will charge you 25€ to pick it up. Even if it's kids items! They want to make money off children forgetting their rucksack! Terrible customer service from Gabriel, the manager at lost and found. So disappointed. I had to pay 10£ for parking as well! Rip off.
Why does this airport not operate a…
Why does this airport not operate a better system with their ‘special assistance’ system?
Each time we use this facility, we are held behind an enclosed area and have to wait for an assistant to take you to be checked in, to go through passport control etc.
We have waited for up to 40 minutes before now, so lose any time that we would like to use for beverages or food.
On return this week, disabled passengers in wheelchairs were lined up in a row in an enclosed area and told that there would be a ‘long delay’ as there were no staff available to take them through to arrivals.
The system works very well in other airports in the UK and also abroad!! There is no waiting around whatsoever.
Staff can be rude and miserable.
We will do our best to avoid this airport fir future travel.
Please empty bins
Please empty bins. Over flowing in departures. No one emptying them
Drop off fees are getting out of hand!
Drop off fees are getting out of hand! And it's no different at Stansted Airport!
£10 to drop off family at 3:30 am for their 6 am flight (not even peak time).
It's just robbery! It's pure scam for spending 15 minutes at the drop offs.
If we continue to allow this, they will soon start charging for breathing air.
Stansted hell hole
This has to be the worst airport ever!!!
Hard wooden benches if you lucky enough to find a seat in the overly crowded departure area.
Go to gates 90 to 93 if you want a quieter seating area as these seem to be gates not in use- that’s if you don’t mind a mouse running around there!!
The airport is boiling hot, flights are delayed and security is a nightmare with rude staff. The award for worst airport definitely goes to Stansted
Stansted Is Clearly Improving
I fly frequently through Stansted, although my last visit before this recent trip was in September. Since then, I have been very impressed with the improvements and overall level of service I experienced.
It is clear that a lot of work and investment is going into improving the airport, and even with the ongoing construction, the experience already feels noticeably better. Security was efficient and quick, and what stood out most was the friendliness of the staff. Being greeted with smiles and a positive attitude made a real difference, and that is something I had not really experienced at the airport before.
The airport also felt tidy, clean, and well organised, and everyone I interacted with seemed genuinely willing to help. I would especially like to mention the lady providing customer service near the train to the gates, who was particularly helpful and welcoming.
Thank you for making my journey experience much more enjoyable. I appreciate the improvements being made and I am looking forward to travelling through Stansted again in the future.
Horrible
I don't think this airport plans to improve. Crowded overly warm halls, hard wooden seats, often with no back, narrow, crowded passages. In over 40 years flying, it's the worst I've been to. I will fly any airline that doesn't depart from this place.
Terrible security experience
Terrible experience going through Stansted Airport ‘security’. 20 minutes. Training exercise for new recruits. No training on customer relationship management included. No signage warning travellers. Technical fault meant my bag wasn’t scanned fully. Pushed aside onto the belt for checking. Long delay as there were so many bags pulled aside. The woman in front had several sealed packs of Cathedral Cheese wiped for traces of drugs and explosives. By the time my bag arrived for searching the code on the plastic tray had timed out. So it had to be taken back around for a second scanning. No apology. No explanation for the meticulous bag search. Everything taken out. Dumb insolence from the supervisor. No apology until I asked for one.
Used the meet and greet parking…
Used the meet and greet parking service. When I stopped to charge my car on the way home after collecting my car I noticed that my alloy had a huge scuff and chunk missing from it. So the driver will have known full well that it’s happened and nothing was said at pick up. But because I left site they won’t accept any liability. Shocking service with shocking integrity
Stansted security check absolutely…
Stansted security check absolutely dreadful!
Sunday 26th April @7:30pm it took over an hour and half to get through the security check.
We queued over an hour to get from the boarding pass check in to the security lines with only 4 lines operating out of the 10(or so?) lines available.
Moving through the checking line, I counted 4 out of 6 cabin bags having to be rescanned, including my own. When I told the security operator what the problem was (I mistakenly left a yogurt carton in my bag) he rudely replied he’d have to rescan the bag again anyway.
When I started to repack my bag, left in a mess after being checked, another attendant also rudely told me to move because he was collecting the trays.
It took at least 20min to clear the line, over an hour and an half to get through security. When I asked a supervisory there were no more lines open, he dismissively said I should allow 3 hours. I actually had, I was at the airport @7pm for a 10pm flight.
Apart from rudeness, it looked like the security staff were “working to rule” and being as awkward as possible. Dreadful!
What's that bad smell...it's Stansted Airport!
Been through this airport twice this year, and it's not a great experience.
The staff are unfriendly, the toilets are in desperate need of renovation as they're disgusting.
The whole experience was p**s poor.
Worst “London” Airport - Do Not Fly From Here
Worst “London” Airport. Only airport I’ve flown from that manages to make every step of the process stressful. Had to pay for fast track security half way through queuing for security to get through and make our flight on time. It took 1 1/2 hours to get half way through.
Staff were rude and unhelpful when asked questions.
Had to then queue to get from the area after security through to the gates themselves because the design of the airport is so bad.
Got to the gate and the flight was delayed. Spoke to somebody else in the queue, they said flights from Stansted are frequently delayed.
Seems like poor organisation from top to bottom. Wasn’t even flying peak and they couldn’t handle the numbers.
Monetise everything as well. So to get through the airport costs you an extortionate amount on top of the price of the flight.
Will always book to fly elsewhere if it’s at all possible.
Nearly a 2 hour wait for security
Nearly a 2 hour wait for security, hundreds of people stressed about missing flights, no urgency from staff, instead just told everyone if the miss their flight that’s not their problem. Incredibly poor experience.
