Good experience with this company…
The website was reasonably easy to navigate and the booking procedure was straightforward. I received regular and useful reminders about settlement, property information and account history. I had one issue that needed resolving (forgotten password) which was done professionally and efficiently.
Beautiful Suffolk cottage …
Beautiful cottage that is obviously much loved by the owners. Very well equipped, feels like ‘home from home’. Westleton village is friendly and had all the amenities needed and central to the local attractions. A few cobwebs here and there, but didn’t bother us! Perfect for a family/pet holiday, even the teenagers loved it here (great WiFi!) We’ll be back soon!
Ideal Southwold Cottage
A beautiful cottage with all the essentials together with stylish decor and comfortable beds. Stay at Ashtree Cottage for a happy holiday in Southwold. Ideal for a family of 4.
Good position in the high street
Good position in the high street, and close to all amenities.
Great Holiday....thankyou. My first cottage holiday and made…
My first cottage holiday and made better and easier with this company. Kept informed by email as the holiday approached with all necessary and relevant information. A professional and easy to use website.
Excellent Service…
Excellent service from start to finish of our holiday. Would highly recommend booking with Suffolk Secrets.
Cottage balcony a great asset
Great cottage - clean, well equipped and lovely setting .The balcony was a fab place to chill overlooking the fields with a coffee, a beer and a book - what more do you need!
Clean property
Clean property, accurate description of the property, great location.
If excellant views, peace and quiet is what you need then Admiralty Lodge is for you.
The description of the property was excellent and the site was easy to use. Communication was good and directions etc sent a few times.
An excellent experience

Gleve House
Very rarely have we rented a property like Gleve House that has been so well equipped and spotlessly clean on arrival
Sadly let down by a lack of care and interest by the agency
We stayed at a really nice property booked through Suffolk Secrets, which was sadly let down by a lack of care and interest by the agency. They didn't seem to care that the key operation on the property that we were staying at was so stiff, that we couldn't easily open or lock it. No hair drier, no washing machine, no internet. Basically - your problem
This is the report that we sent to them after our stay.
This is a beautiful property, which was immaculate and with a high degree of fit-out, with some strange anomalies.
No internet - this is a pre-requisite to any rental, unless the details say otherwise. We did have a modem which clearly had access to internet but it had run out of credit, though we didn't know it at the time. We called the helpdesk but received a pithy response to say that the details didn't specify that internet was available and that was that. Not being content with the response, I investigated further and found that the WiFi model supplied was on a pay as you go contract and had run out of credit. There was a small credit on the account, which I used to buy more data and then paid a further £40 from my own pocket for 120GB, which saw us through.
Washing machine: We were provided with washing tabs in our welcome kit but there was no washing machine. Also, there was no washing line or pegs, which is strange for a property close to a beach!
Steps in the property: These were a central design feature but having such steep steps with a sharp point and edges seemed rather dangerous for my aged Mum, who happily didn't come, though this had been planned. I would suggest that hand rails be provided if this continues to be a rental property.
Front Door: This had an incredibly stiff lock, as the door appears to have warped. Initially, I could not enter the property and thought that perhaps I had the incorrect key or was using it in the wrong door! I persevered and with some struggle, was able to enter the house. I reported this to Suffolk Secrets who did send a technician and he also struggled. The Suffolk Secrets team elected not to send a locksmith to resolve this and sent a very pithy response, which I didn't appreciate. However, the technician was helpful and provided us with an emergency backup key which worked much better, though the lock and mechanism was still unacceptably stiff.
Bedroom Door/Window: This is a very tall window/door, which had a very stiff locking mechanism, due I believe to warping, as it is very tall. It did lock but my wifi was not strong enough to do this on her own.
Hair Drier: Surprisingly, this was also not provided. I questioned Suffolk Secrets about this too and expected them to volunteer to provide us with one but they did not do this.
I was left with an overwhelming feeling that Suffolk Secrets didn't really care about our stay, which is a shame, as this was a really nice property.
We took special effort to clean the property and vacate well before the time required and hope that our deposit is returned quickly, though it is 3 working days since we have left and this has not yet been refunded to us.

2 Blomvyle Hall Cottage - A lovely stay in a beautiful cottage
A lovely stay in a beautiful cottage, with lots of character & the feeling of romance! A peaceful area & close to the coast. Just what we were looking for with our dog Ted. The owners were very accommodating & have put a lot of thought into this cottage.
Beautiful & very clean, very well equipped with everything you could possibly need. A lovely safe garden for your dog to run around in. If you want peace & quiet, then this is the place to go. Location is very good for visiting different ares & not far from the coast. Dunwich beach is a dog friendly beach & only approx 15 mins in the car, it has a little cafe’ there too. Just up the road a lovely doggy friendly pub for lunch, The Ship Inn. Lots of walks close by too & dog friendly pubs to eat. The Westleton Arms a lovely dog friendly pub & definitely recommend for a nice meal, a little more expensive than pub food. If your thinking about booking this cottage, I say book it now & you won’t be disappointed.
Thank you for our time there.
Sparrows Nest July 2023
We stayed at Sparrows Nest for a week with our two dogs.
On arrival the property looked clean and everything looked great.
If you have limited mobility be aware that the stairs to the bedroom, and bathroom are very steep with a rope handrail. Also, the bed, placed in the eves was very low; again if you have limited mobility this could make it difficult to get in and out of bed.
Downstairs the facilities in the living room were good but the sofa was a bit tired. In an attempt to plump up the cushions we found lots of food crumbs and a half eaten item which we could not identify; this was our main concern on cleanliness.
The TV has Freeview play and Netflix if you are into that kind of thing and WiFi as well.
The site was advertised as having cleaning equipment but this was absent perhaps explaining the state of the sofa (?) and for info, there is no clothes washing facility.
There were plenty of dog walks around the cottage; it would have been helpful to have a map in the welcome pack showing the distance and terrain of these walks for particularly for those with mobility issues.
Being remote, any grocery needs required a drive to the local Co-op (2.5 miles) so it would be worth taking some immediate supplies with you if you can.
It sounds like a lot of downers but we did have a very relaxed time at Sparrows Nest and we were very lucky with the weather.
Excellent experience
Simple on line booking facility. Accurate property description. Property was clean and well equipped and in a quiet but convenient location. Good value for money.
Will be back to Southwold
Please see below - feel free to adjust as you see fit The house was great - well presented and everything needed available.
The outside let down the interior somewhat. A lot more could be done with the back garden area - cushions for the furniture, longer clothes line, barbecue. The planting was tired and in need of cutting back and renewal. Uneven paving from the back door could cause issues for the less ambulant. Inclusion of herb shrubs such as bay and rosemary would have been welcome and in keeping with the location.
Also, the front area did not give great kerb appeal and certainly did not reflect the quality of the interior.
The water pressure wasn’t a huge issue for us. The beds were comfy although blackout curtains may be an idea for the front bedroom.
Location was excellent, but not that clear from the website description. It was a bit of a walk to the beach with youngsters, but a lovely setting close to the common and accessible walks.
The old chapel is a totally unique tranquil place to stay
The old chapel is a totally unique place to stay and Maggie the owner gave us a lovely welcome. Everything was impeccably done and extremely clean and tidy. There was so many wonderful little touches that enhanced the experience. None more so than the "loo in the pew" and the massive remote control curtains in the bedroom. We booked this to celebrate my wife's 70th birthday and will certainly look to return sometime in the not too distant future.
Great Location.
Lovely properties all over Suffolk.
