Paid a lot for this watch. After a few uses the screen went dark and is now unusable. Cannot get the courage to throw out this expensive watch. Brought one when it first came out.

Wouldn't buy another one

Worked well for the first eight months. Now I can't get the daily time. It's very inconsistent with all its swimming options. It's difficult to access the information I want to use.

Hello Susan. The issue you are describing is most likely very easy to resolve. Please log out of your app, force-close it and clear the app data from the phone's apps settings menu. You should be able to toggle the daily watch feature after doing this. If it helped, please consider updating your review. In case of further problems, please contact our tech support directly via our website and we will surely help.

No money back if disatisfied

unfortunately you need to wear this watch to realise how difficult to use it is, how hard to sync it is, and how common incorrect lap counts are, and once you have worn this watch your 30 day money back guarantee is invalid. so you cannot get your money back no matter how dissatisfied you are. And yes i did contact your customer service. and no they weren't helpful. It was bought through a third party vendor, but you have advised them that i have to pay to send the watch to Poland at my own expense so that you can test it. I don't feel the watch is faulty i feel it is inaccurate. so my complaint is regarding the product, and how i have no means to try the watch without invalidating my 30 day money back guarantee and that fact isn't made clear in the terms.

Hello. It's hard for us to respond to your case without knowing your order number or name, especially that no recent customer service conversations seem to match your complaint. We appreciate your feedback, but we would like to point out that the return period is visible to you prior to the purchase and it is up to the customer to make their decision within the agreed upon timeframe. Please feel free to contact our customer service directly for assistance with syncing and lap counts.

Update: Thank you for updating your review. If the item was purchased from a third-party, it is their own return terms that apply, rather than ours, and we cannot be responsible for the information that was or was not included in their terms of service. Please note that the review on this site is supposed to describe Swimmo's customer service, rather than that of a third party. Your experience with a third-party vendor should not affect Swimmo's Trustpilot rating. We hope that you agree that this is a fair approach.

As far as accuracy is concerned, we recommend checking our FAQ section for a detailed guide on how to avoid discounts. As stated earlier, our customer service is ready to help you with issues related to distance tracking - please contact us directly (via the form on our website) with a detailed description of of a specific workout .

Avoid this watch. Better and cheaper options out there

I used the watch for about 6 months. Lap counting was very insistent, sometimes it was right, sometimes it was wrong. It was never consistently wrong, sometimes it would skip a lap at the start of my swim or at any stage after that. It seemed to just lose a lap sometimes even more.
Battery life started out great and then slowly got worst. Ending up after the 6 months only lasting a 1 hour swim.
I always had problems connecting to the Bluetooth on the phone.
I ended up buying an Huawei GT2 watch and it is a far better watch for swimming and has plenty of other useful features that the Swmmo couldn't dream of doing.

Hello. Thank you for this feedback. Please remember that 6 months is still within the warranty period. If there's something wrong with the battery (it should last for much more than a 1-hour swim, of course), we will gladly resolve the issue under the warranty terms. Please simply contact our customer service.

COMPLETELY DISSAPOINTED

I have bought a swimmo watch and used it from July 2018 to October 2019, an estimated 240 hours of use at the most. Beyond the not exactly accurate lap counting, the hard tapping required and the difficulty to see it in an open pool environment, I was somehow very happy with it.

However, I had to stop swimming for 8 months due to a surgery and then the covid and to my surprise when I restarted swimming now, the swimmo watch display does not light up.

I followed the customer support suggestion to “take the watch to a dark room and see if the display does not show anything at all also in a completely dark setting, or is it just very dim” .

Once it was confirmed that the display was not lighting up I got this “Swimmo stands behind its Products" reply “We cannot replace the unit beyond the warranty period and a paid repair of this specific issue would not be feasible due to the way the watch is assembled and sealed”.

Their proposed solution was to buy a new watch at a “special” 25% discount. So, on top of the 200$ paid, spend 150$ more for a total of 350$ for a non performing, non repairable product that the company will not back after the warranty period regardless of it having a “by no means a common issue”.

I am totally disappointed and wish I would have read the 47% bad and poor reviews before buying it. I would recommend NOT TO BUY A SWIMMO WATCH and look for other watches than have not only the same functionalities but a lot more (i.e. apple) for, in the end, a similar price and a much better stand behind the product policies.

PS Users with the same problem could get a large and thick piece of black fabric, cover yourselves with it and go to the darkest spot in the locker room to turn the watch on and off before/after workout. You will not be able to check information during workouts but at least you will get some information and avoid wasting your money again.

Lost faith...

About 2 years ago I wrote a review about the Swimmo watch and its great potential. Now, 2 years later, Swimmo has unfortunately been outdated by other more advanced swim watches. There are now multiple watches on the market, which include way more detailed swim metrics (Stroke, stroke count, Swolf).

The updates they promised over again, never came. This is how they advertise: "Buy now and upgrade your watch later with free, automatic software updates! No need to buy new watch."
I have got my watch 3 years now and there has been one tiny little update, which did not improve the watch, but even broke the kick&drill mode almost entirely (at least in my case).

One of the reasons I bought the watch were those free updates in the future. I have been waiting for the stroke stats and even more for the implementation of the open water mode. Stroke stats is still being advertised on the website, but open water has already been removed for a longer period of time now (probably because of the very poor visibility of the watch outside).

I have emailed a lot with Swimmo, the customer service deserves credit for the way they answered all my emails. Unfortunately I have to be honest, I lost faith...

Hello Thomas. We are sorry that you feel this way and we understand that you've expected the SWOLF / stroke count functionalities to arrive sooner. This was also our original assumption and plan, but, as sometimes happens in development, we've experienced some major setbacks that prevented us from releasing the new functions earlier. We hope that you can understand that we wish to release a polished product instead of rushing it. We confirm once again that SWOLF/stroke count is being worked on and will be released for all the Swimmo users.

Same comments as the others

Same comments as the others, difficult to impossible to see the screen in sunlight (I swim outdoors) and it requires charging after each swim. Functions are clunky to use. Disappointed overall and I had the same experience with customer service when I expressed my issues to them. They explain away the issues but stop short of a resolution, which leaves you feeling like a sucker. You guys win for getting my wife’s money for a Christmas gift I used twice. Congrats!

UPDATE: Swimmo replied below, but I know of no email I was supposed to reply to. They explain their screen technology, but it doesn’t matter, it washes out in the sunlight. The short battery life is not addressed.

Hello Peter. Thank you for this feedback. Please keep in mind that direct sunlight diminishes the visibility of all OLED screens which are often used in various devices of this sort and this is a matter of physics, rather than a drawback of Swimmo specifically. What is more, the focus of the design was visibility in standard pool conditions, including underwater.

While the majority of our users praise the navigation, we are sorry that you find it clunky. If this was not a matter of getting used to it and you still feel this way, please feel free to describe the issue in more detail via e-mail (you have not responded to our previous message).

Disappointed

Disappointed. I’ve been using this watch for six months now and swim almost every day. I’m really disappointed even though Swimmo customer service helped me clarify ways the watch works. You cannot see the watch in any sunlight at all! It is visible when swimming in an indoor pool. The Tapping mechanism to turn the watch on, or pause it, is unreliable. Sometimes I have to put it on the charger to “wake it up” even though it’s fully charged. When I Tap to pause the watch (if your laps are not continuous), it does not always respond. It does not always measure the time of the lap correctly. I’d hoped to use it to measure and improve my swimming goals. But I’m giving up and will buy a Garmin Swim 2. I’d like to send the watch back (I’ve had it 6 months) as it’s advertising promises omit its shortfalls but I’ve wasted enough money. I CANNOT recommend the Swimmo.

And yes Swimmo I do double tap but it is reliably unreliable.

Swimmo I live in Australia where we mostly swim in sunlight but the visibility issue is not clear in you advertising.

We are sorry you feel this way. Please note that limited visibility in direct sunlight is a general drawback of OLED screens used in devices of this type by most manufacturers and indoor pools are indeed the most popular environment for our customers. Please also remember that pausing the watch during a workout requires a double-tap, rather than a single one. Please feel free to contact our support directly to troubleshoot the lap times.

Love Hate relationship

I think the phrase - love / hate relationship sums up how I feel about this watch.Having swum close to 200 km over 7,636 laps I feel qualified to comment.Everything works (when it works) like it says on the box.One becomes so reliant on it that even the smallest glitch is extremely frustrating - like only looking at the watch after every 1000m and finding that it stopped working at some point? Having no way to reliably check the battery (that I have found) and getting to the pool only to find out it stops working after a few laps or does not come on at all.Connecting to Android can sometimes be a pain - but most blue-tooth type devises are.
There are big pluses though - have thoroughly enjoyed swimming with the watch and become disappointed when I have to swim without it.On balance, I would definitely rather have it than not. Improvements needed in 1. Battery charger cradle 2. Battery indicator access 3. Auto-stop at rest. 4. Consistency of operation. 5. Stop saying you are introducing SWOLF when clearly you are not. After 2 years it is now false advertising.

Hello Chris. This issue is already resolved, but for the sake of clarifying it to other visitors - in this case we were forced to wait for the carrier to confirm the whereabouts of the package before taking further steps. This was a rather standard and reasonable procedure, although we understand that you did not wish to wait any longer.

After owning a swimmo watch over 4 years I have enjoyed many hours of good fun which allowed me to record my improvement levels over a period of time. The watch was brilliant at encouraging me to monitor my progress. Whilst I have had a few issues the help and support from swimmo has been superb. Unfortunately my watch was stolen in burglary on holiday in February 2020. I wrote to swimmo asking if they could disconnect from there server so stopping anyone else using the watch. They very kindly not only replied but also offered me a replacement with considerable discount. Now at 70 years of age and having open heart surgury recently I feel that my competitive swimming days are over. THANKS Swimmo for providing the incentive to keep swimming up over the last 4 years. BRILLIANT product with EXCELLENT CUSTOMER SERVICE AND ADVICE. Well keep up the good work. Best wishes. Disappointed...

I have purchased Swimmo watch on 2018, Jan, 10. 2 years ago. I tried to use it a couple of times, but I couldn't. The display is awful. It is not possible to see anything on the display even under mild sunlight. Maybe for someone who trains indoors, in a dark place... Additionally, when I bought it, Swimmo was suposed to implement some features not available then, "pretty soon", as they said. Stroke count and stroke rate, for example. Well, 2 years now and no more features implemented. I ended up buying a Garmin Swim which showed to be far more superior than Swimmo.

It’s always hard to work out the positive Vs. negative reviews but I can assure you that this is my view that is genuine and not fake.

For me the watch has reinvented my swimming and my endurance has surpassed my expectations. Setting and reaching my watch goals is both rewarding and motivational and at the end of the day this is the most important aspect of my swimming training.

I’m sure other watches do different, and some may say improved functions yet for me my Swimmo watch has delivered exactly the functions and results that I was looking for!

Thank you.
