A total scam. Fraudulent and dishonest from start to finish.
I read through many reviews before dealing with this dealership and noticed quite a few negative ones. Still, I thought it couldn’t be that bad and decided to place a £99 deposit on a car that was still in the preparation stage, on the condition that it would be ready for collection on the 25th of January—around three weeks later.
A couple of days later, the sales representative, Pat, called and explained that the £99 deposit would only hold the car for 48 hours. Since my collection date was three weeks away, he requested a £1,000 non-refundable deposit instead. I agreed and paid the amount, with the condition clearly stated that the car would be ready on the 25th of January and that if there were any issues with the vehicle, I would walk away and expect a full refund. He agreed to these terms.
The car had an outstanding recall, which Pat claimed he wasn’t aware of, and it was also due for servicing, which he assured me would be completed before collection. He promised to send me a new video showing the car fully prepared and all issues rectified. On January 10th, I received confirmation that the workshop had completed the bodywork, and on January 15th, I was informed that the recall had been carried out. However, an engine management light (EML) appeared on the dashboard. Pat said he had informed his managers and the workshop would fix it by January 17th. Since I was traveling from Ireland for collection, he assured me everything would be resolved on time, even sending me the following email:

I completely understand how you feel, and I appreciate that this situation may be concerning. As you may already know, the Sytner Group is partnered with leading manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Audi, and BMW. Our vehicle preparation standards mirror those of these brands.
Every vehicle we retail undergoes a comprehensive 135-point safety inspection, including checks on the battery, tyre tread depth, and all engine and electrical components. As this is a used vehicle, I have already spoken with my manager to ensure that everything is thoroughly checked and any necessary issues are rectified prior to your visit.
As mentioned previously, I will personally make sure that the warning light has been resolved and that the vehicle is in excellent condition for your appointment, so you have nothing to worry about.

That was the last I ever heard from him. He began ignoring my emails and calls, so I started dealing with Kuba Respondek, the Sales Manager. I raised my concerns, explaining that I had not paid a deposit for a car with an EML warning light and that the lack of communication was unacceptable. I requested a deposit refund, but Kuba reassured me that everything would be fine and claimed they were fully regulated by the FCA. He promised the car would be ready on time. However, by this point, I had completely lost faith in this dealership and its employees, who I found dishonest and untrustworthy.
On January 23rd, Kuba called to inform me that the issue with the car was more serious than they initially thought and that they could no longer sell the vehicle to me. He acted as though he was doing me a favour by letting me know before I flew from Ireland to Swindon, despite the fact that I had already spent over £300 on travel based on his and Pat’s earlier assurances. I requested reimbursement for my expenses, and Kuba said he would check with his Head of Sales.
On January 26th, I received the following email from him:
“I have spoken to my head of sales and he informed me that the original agreement was that the £1000 was non-refundable, which I was not aware of.
As this was the case, he said we will refund this to you but will not cover the cost of travel.”
Are these people seriously suggesting that they’re doing me a favour? They admitted they couldn’t sell the car because of major issues, yet they initially planned to keep my deposit! And even now, they refuse to cover the travel costs I incurred due to their misrepresentation.
An absolute joke. A total scam. Fraudulent and dishonest from start to finish. Stay away from Sytner Select Swindon. Pay attention to the negative reviews—don’t ignore them as I did.

I Recently bought a car through Sytner select Swindon an everything about the experience was brilliant. From going to look at the car on Sunday 18/01/2026 to picking up the new car Tuesday the 20/01/2026.
