No useful customer service

I bough a pannier bag with a 2 year warranty which has broken after 2 years and 2 months. Because the bag is advertised as “built to last” I wanted to reach out to see if they would be willing to replace or repair the bag. I sent 3 emails in January with no response, so contacted them by Instagram. The first time I was told that a warranty claim had been submitted but nothing came through. I chased this a week later and was told there is no record of my previous conversation, and that I need to email them, using the same address that I had previously used 3 times.
Edit: Sent another email 23/02/24, still no reply on 01/03/24. Definitely the correct address, its the same as the address the original order confirmation came from, and I just hit reply. Also checked it multiple times. Clearly some issue with their email system.

Hi Will, thanks for the review and we are very sorry that you have had this experience. As Izzy let you know, we didn't receive any emails from you in January. The only communication we had from you was February, and we got back you quickly on these ones. Perhaps you sent your message to an incorrect email address? Unfortunately the bag is outside of the warranty period, however we asked for you to send some photos, which didn't come through properly from you. If you could send those through again that would be great. We will then be able to assess the situation better and see if we can help you out. We would also greatly appreciate it if you amended your 1 star review as we think that given the circumstances (the bag is technically outside of warranty but we are still willing to help, and the fact that we never received your emails in January), it is slightly unfair. Kind regards, Matt, Founder & CEO.

Beautiful bikes, good service

Temple Cycles are making beautiful bikes, and making them carefully and well. They're responsive and really do seem to be good people who love cycling!

Great experience!

Booking a test ride was easy any riding one of their gravel bikes was quite interesting. My immediate interest was trying their Bristol saddle which I bought at the end of the test and have been very pleased with since. It feels quite firm but provides a lot of support. Theoretically my size is around 130-140 mm but the Bristol - at 149 mm - feels fantastic, it looks great and it’s very reasonably priced so much so I’ll buy another one if I revamp an old mountain bike I have in the garage!

2020 model Temple Adventure Disc

My Temple Adventure Disc bike will be four years old this February, and it's still running perfectly after several thousand miles of riding both on and off road.
For me, buying a new bike has always been a long and slow process where I try to find something that meets all my requirements and end up having to compromise. I wanted something versatile, long-lasting and a little bit different. A steel frame was a given, which narrowed the market down considerably. I'd almost settled for another bike from a bigger manufacturer when I discovered the Adventure disc. A visit to the Temple showroom in Bristol, a cup of tea and a chat with the extemely friendly and helpful Noah, and a few test rides on different size bikes was enough to convince me to take the plunge. I picked it up about two weeks before the first COVID lockdown started: it got a lot of use in its first few months...
My review, having had it for almost four years? The bike is really well designed and put together, meeting the company's 'last a lifetime' ethos. It has handled everything I've inflicted on it - winter club rides, time trials, hill climbs, some light touring and cyclo cross races - and still looks as good as new. The Hunt wheels are great - lightweight, strong and still running true. They came with Schwalbe G One tyres which I replaced after three years with another pair for winter use. I run lighter, thinner tyres in the summer when the roads aren't so grotty. The Brooks saddle has grown on me. It's comfortable on long rides, but I tend to swap it out in wet weather or for cyclo cross events. Shimano 105 is quality kit, and the gearing range suits me fine - enough to get up 20% hills and to hum along at 20+ mph on the flat. I've replaced the chain a couple of times. Cable disc brakes provide adequate power - obviously not as much as hydraulics, but they are low maintenance. The paint still looks as good as new, albeit with a few chips around the dropouts.
I guess the overall package isn't as light as the other bikes on club rides, but I can easily keep up with the 18mph group, and, with a bit of training, could probably join the 19mph group. (I'm early 50s, male and just over 60kg).
Two minor points: the leather bar tape looks great in combination with the saddle, and is holding up well - but it has a tendency to get a bit of mould growing on it when kept in a damp, metal shed in the winter (although I think that might happen to most bar tape). Same with the saddle, but I can easily remove that and bring it indoors.
And the Temple head badge fell off last year, so the frame doesn't look quite as classy as it once did.
But overall, if you're looking for a good quality, long-lasting, versatile, low-maintenance bike at a reasonable price, then I think the Adventure disc would be hard to beat.

An awful, awful experience

Temple offer the sort of experience when buying that would raise concerns about how you would be looked after if needed as a customer.
I ordered a bike 3/11/23 in their sale, including shipping and a 3-week delivery time.
I heard nothing after 3 weeks so contacted after 4 to be told they had delays and expect it within a couple of weeks.
I waited another 2 weeks and heard nothing so chased again, to be told there were further delays and mine would be one of the first deliveries in the new year and was offered free delivery (Which i already had confirmed as included in my receipt.
I didn't hear anything first week back after Christmas so chased again. I was told that I had to now pay for delivery again or cancel.
I explained that i already had delivery included, but was told "they're the options".
I couldn't believe the CEO/Founder would allow this in his business, so wrote to him (Which isn't easy).
I haven't had a response from him either.
No bike, no service, no integrity and they still hold my money.

I wouldn't be surprised if i heard they had gone out of business and taken my money with them.

Not even worth the one-star.

IN RESPONSE TO MATT, THE FOUNDER'S COMMENTS.

It is interesting that you have only now acknowledged any of my comms once they have become public.

I ordered a bike from you and was given a delivery date.
If you couldn't meet that delivery date, you shouldn't have given it.

You failed to deliver on 3 subsequent delivery dates and on each occasion were absoluetly not courteous as you made no attempt to contact me at all. On each occasion, i only found out because i took the time to chase you.

I ordered and had confirmed in my receipt a shipment address. I was then told 6 weeks after placing that order that I had to pay extra for delivery.

I was offered free delivery by one member of your staff, and then had another member of staff take it away.

If you feel my review to be rude, then you should consider that every word of this review, and every one of my actions has been a direct response to the actions of your business and your team.

Having now seen your response, I can understand why my experience has been as it has. And notably, reading your recent reviews was no different to many other people that you let down over that same period.

I look forward to receiving my refund today, and not in "2-4 days" as one of your team has suggested.

Wow that’s a very powerful and rude review you’ve left. It lines up with the general aggressiveness you have shown our team at every interaction you’ve had with us. We can also see the string of damming reviews you’ve left other businesses from looking at your profile. You seem to have a very good track record of purchasing products from companies which you have little to no respect for. In your particular case at Temple, you ordered a discounted bike at the end of our season. We informed you about delays (which can be part of the course when ordering a hand-built, semi custom bike from an independent bike company), and we’ve been as friendly and cooperative as possible with you. You’ve treated us with no respect whatsoever. We only like to have customers who are reasonable and kind. Both of these things you are not, therefore we will be issuing you a full refund. We hope you find a bike from another bike company as cycling is good for everyone and brings a little joy into everyone’s lives. However, we kindly ask you not to come to Temple again.
Regards
Matt, Founder & CEO

Highly recommend

Fantastic bikes - I have two! - and I won’t ride any other brand again. The quality, build and finish is outstanding, and the staff are really friendly and helpful. Highly recommend, you won’t be disappointed.

Adventure disc..mustard yellow

The bike itself is beautiful thing to look at. I ride it everyday and I have done about 6000 miles on it in the past 10 months. In a world of constant upgrade and everything shiny...I am glad to say I will not be buying another bike for this lifetime...instead I hope my children will fight over this once I am gone...

Great bikes

Great bikes, nice small company that still does things properly with good customer service and helpful staff. Bought a frame from them which I had built to spec, and a few other bits and bobs over the years, as well as going on a maintanance course in their London shop. All around just a great experience and the bikes look amazing, ride well, and get complements wherever I go. Highly recommended.

Excellent bicycle and outstanding team

I went to collect some cable case and small parts to the shop in Brick lane. I had the best welcome, advice and on top of it, the staff lent me their paint repair kit to touch and repair small scratches in my adored Temple Classic Tour.
My experience with the product and the team cannot be better. The bicycle is perfect, beautiful, and rides smoothly. The staff is always kind, knowledgable, willing, and you really feel welcome.
Thank you Temple for being such a bliss.

Temple classic purchased in 2021

I purchased a Temple classic in 2021 after a lot of research. It was a great looking retro bike and it didn't disappoint. At the time it came with free lights and a lock. Since then I"ve brought a lighter set of wheels and it still looks fantastic. It was tempting during the recent sale to buy another Temple bike but it didn't happen. Recommended
