At 60 and seen so many places, this was our best trip ever.

What an amazing trip of a lifetime. We have travelled to many places and this was 3-4 weeks, Argentina followed by 3 days in Rio.
Nick was amazing in his guidance, itinerary, guides, places, hotels, what a perfectly organised trip. We couldn't have had any better as everything was what we needed at our fingertips and we didn't need a thing.
As a result, we saw so much, Buenos Aires, Puerto Madryn, Ushuaia, El Calefate, Bariloche, Iguazu, then onto Rio.

So pleased I found this company. The information, efficiency and care were exemplary. A truly bespoke holiday for six of us where real interest was shown in what we wanted. Two generations, dietary requirements and mobility issues but everything was arranged superbly. Hotels that suited us all perfectly and a variety of activities for the different ages. Excellent guides and travel arrangements even when an air traffic controllers strike hit.

We asked Nick to modify one of his standard itineraries, for our trip to Patagonia. He quickly grasped what we wanted, and was flexible and forthcoming as we worked out the details (including in several instances finding us similar but less costly options than what he first suggested). We were totally satisfied with him, and the plan, as we set out ...and then our first flight, to Buenos Aires, was canceled. This meant we would definitely miss our connecting flight to Ushuaia, and because of that potentially miss the departure of our cruise. We contacted him immediately, and in a series of texts and phone calls through the night, he found us an alternate routing from BA to Ushuaia, and made the necessary adjustments to our hotel and airport transfer arrangements. Because of the cancelation, we had to spend a night and day in New York City, but because of his support we were able to do that without stress. This is why you work with a professional travel planner. (This is also why you buy good travel insurance.) We would use The South America Specialists again without hesitation.

From a cancelled 2020 trip due to Covid, Nick refunded 💯 of our costs and so it was a no- brainer to use him again for our 2026 trip to Argentina and Brazil.

He planned a perfect itinerary with excellent hotels, trips, transfers and guides. Even with 5 internal flights, it was seamless and we were in WhatsApp communication 24/7 with the local tour companies in each destination and with Nick back in the UK.

A travel app was provided where our whole trip was uploaded which really helped on a daily basis.

Nick was recommended to me by my sister-in-law as he had helped her plan a trip to Argentina- and I’m so glad that we had him on board. Nick was able to give great advice and made lots of recommendations for our three week trip to Argentina. He was very patient and very responsive, and listened carefully to the types of places we wanted to stay and visit. Once on the trip, we had access to a great app and it was invaluable having local contacts to help us (needed on day one due to a flight delay). Nick did a great job fitting together the moving parts for our 2nd South American trip booked through his agency. The guides, drivers, and activities were tip-top. We were on uncertain terrain in northern Colombia and had some worries about things but Nick worked with us patiently and everything turned out quite well. Do not miss the Minca waterfalls, and hiking the Kogui Trail of Knowledge in Tayrona National Park. And if you come to Santa Marta and Cartagena with an open heart and mind you'll be primed for learning and fun. There were many more special outings; all of them were on-point. The local agency and guides really know their territory and convey their knowledge with warmth and depth.

Very knowledgeable about Chile which made planning the trip much easier. Very responsive to all my questions and amendments to the plan. Would definitely recommend them.

Nick listened to what we were looking for from our 3.5 week trip to Argentina (November 2025) and crafted an itinerary which completely matched our aspirations and went beyond them. I have just come back from a solo trip to Patagonia and Antarctica organised by Nick. I had a wonderful time for over 3 weeks. Both parts of the trip were masterly organised by Nick, the pace was great and the communication during the organising very good. He took into account my preferences and his suggestions were excellent as he obviously has an in depth knowledge of the area. The hotels were very good, the expedition on the MV Ushuaia beyond my expectations and the trekking in Torres del Paine unforgettable. I can only warmly recommend Nick and his company.

The South American Specialists were so helpful to us in planning our trip from Canada. We knew we wanted to visit Chile, Argentina and Brazil but unsure where to start. It’s not the first time we booked our trip at The South America Speciialists so our expectations were high. Brazil is a big country and in combination with our wishes regarding places to visit for a specific number of nights, it was a complex puzzle to fit everything in. Nick created an itinerary that worked out great, and we had a dream holiday. It exceeded our expectations.

Nick put together a fabulous 5 star trip to Brazil! We went to Rio for the beach and the Cristo, to Iguassu Falls for the nature and the tremendous falls and to Sao Paulo for all their diverse and fantastic art from the streets to the museums. All our tours and tour guides were top notch with Rio Life that he arranged. The best part was that his pricing for the same hotels and tours was less than the tours from the US companies!! Don’t let all the warnings about the crime keep you from this fabulous country! (Ok there’s crime. Just be cautious. That’s why you have a tour guide and stay at the best hotels!! ).

From start to finish, our trip to Argentina was absolutely seamless, and that’s thanks to the outstanding service provided by The South American Specialist and especially by Nick. He was incredibly knowledgeable, offering insightful suggestions that made our itinerary truly special. Every question we had was answered quickly and thoroughly—his responsiveness really stood out and gave us so much peace of mind during the planning process.

Once we arrived, everything ran like clockwork. Transfers, tours, accommodations—all were perfectly coordinated. The local representative on the ground was also fantastic: attentive, friendly, and always available when needed.

We had a tailor-made trip to Chile planned by Nick of The South America Specialists. Overall our experience with The South America Specialists was very good. During planning Nick took the time to discuss our requirements and give advice. Once booked Nick remained responsive to requests and clarifications. As a result it felt personal and we liked the fact that you are dealing with the same person all of the time using their specialist knowledge. In addition, unfortunately we had a family bereavement during our trip which resulted in us returning early. Nick was very helpful in providing the detail for our insurance claim etc. We would recommend The South America Specialists.

My wife and I travelled to Chile,Argentine and Uruguay with South American Specialists. The arrangement made, worked perfectly and most importantly the support provided locally meant we could enjoy a worry free trip, knowing local help and clarification was just a call away .
As usual, I have used the company for Africa and South America trips in the past, the accommodation more than met our expectations and the itinerary worked well for us.
The holiday provided us with many great memorises, and we were able to enjoy the month long adventure knowing all arrangement and support were in place.

The pacing of our trip was perfect. Just enough time in each location to feel like we had maximized our experience. Our itinerary was complicated and at every step the details were executed perfectly (ex., drivers showing up on time). Also, Nick spent a lot of time talking to us during the planning process to understand our interests and traveling style. He clearly listened and provided excellent advice.

after chatting with Nick about a few wishes as part of our trip he provided us with a excellent schedule which included contacts/hotels/transfers etc at each location along with recommended day events. The trip itself was over 3 weeks and covered the four corners of Argentina aswell as Uruguay. Luckily we found Nick and his company on an internet search when planning a 40th wedding anniversary to Chile. It just took a conversation and a few emails to come up with a fabulous itinerary.They were supportive and not pushy. Nick, one of the founders of this travel agency organised an unforgettable and once in a lifetime trip to Antarctic for me and my husband during Dec’24.

We first approached Nick during 2022 based on a friend’s recommendation and he curated the Antarctic cruise itinerary for Dec’22. Due to unfortunate family circumstances, we had to cancel this trip and Nick was so helpful in processing the refunds for us.

During Nov’24, we contacted Nick again, hoping to book such a trip last minute during December which was quite unusual based on the nature of this particular destination. Again Nick was so accommodating and managed to find us 2 slots on the Antarpply classic cruise.

Around this cruise, Nick curated an impeccable itinerary for us including days to explore the city centre and countryside of Buenos Aries as well as Ushuaia which is the port city where the cruise departs. The accommodations arranged by him at these different locations were all lovely with their own unique personalities and attractions, at a reasonable price point.

The highlight of this trip was definitely the Antarpply cruise to Antarctic, contributed by its passionate crew members who took such good care of us passengers throughout the 10-day cruise.

I can’t recommend enough this travel agency to anyone who is considering a trip to South Americas as I am sure that you will get an unforgettable experience at the price point you have determined.
