I've been using The Timber Group for ages - they are currently supplying a third renovation project of mine. They have a huge range of stock and I've bought everything from decorative beading, to oak flooring, to timber cladding from them. The quality has always been good, service great, and deliveries prompt. (The driver even helped me carry 21 packs of flooring into the house yesterday).

I would definitely recommend them (and I have used just about every supplier imaginable in the past).

I ordered from Clapham branch and due to fact decking was not the correct solution for my back space returned it in perfect condition. I contacted them many times by phone and email but not received any refund. I would not order from them in future.

Update: I received 75% of order value as per their terms and conditions.

This is a company of two faces, the good points are that they have large stocks, all under cover and very helpful and cheery drivers. The bad point is that the customer facing shop staff are unhelpful and lazy. They find it easier to say no and when pressed go through maybe to yes than just check first. Also, they close at 4.00 pm but by 3.30 have already checked out mentally to the point when they cannot even stand up to serve you. So my advice would be to order online or not at all.

I wanted to spend £600+ today but Timber Group and the sullen person on the counter in High Wycombe made sure I couldn’t. I researched on line, great web site on the face of it, but the reality in the yard was very different “yes website says we have them but we don’t and we don’t normally stock the brown sleepers, fed up telling head office to sort it” “we only sell 250 pack of hex wood screws not the 10 pack - look I’m only telling you what we have”. One of my worst experiences in a retail/ commercial environment.

We wanted a little piece of plywood for a small project, after trying all the local competitors we were recommended to The Timber Group. What a find - James was very helpful and we will definitely be back

The Clapham branch staff are not great. Very oldskool and not interested in the customer. I don't think it is set up for collections imo.

Good prices and availability. Added to order at the last minute. However I'm not giving 5 stars:
£25 for a kerbside drop (8 sleepers and 2 scaffold boards) is not great. I had to carry everything a further 3m to the back garden with a damaged shoulder.
Not helpful.

I recently bought brown sleepers that are delivered, dont think they are of good quality.

After being let down by a previous supplier I came across The Timber Group on a google search.
Very good website with stock levels backed up by great customer service over the phone (Jack).

Order placed via email on Monday 17th Aug, delivery took place on Wednesday 19th Aug.

Very professional and courteous delivery driver.

I noted something was missing from the order (typically the parts that were needed first!) - immediate response on the phone and they managed to get the missing posts to the job site in the afternoon.

All in all, great service, worthy of the time it takes to write a review and undoubtedly our new preferred timber supplier.
