One of my best buy websites for years!
I have really enjoyed working with this …
I have really enjoyed working with this company and spent a considerable amount of money here. Just before Christmas however they shut down my ability to log in and order. I sent an email and they sent a reply immediately and said to call. When I called the woman who answered the phone was extremely short with me and told me to try all these different things. I had already done them and said so she said well I'll reset it here and it will work. It still doesn't. There was no email or phone call to see if it was solved despite me emailing them again.ha I will not call again, to be talked down to, I mean they don't have the time of day for their customers. I guess they have enough. I can't say anything bad about delivery as it always came quite quickly. But I can find another place to spend my money. Such a shame they have awesome stuff for gifts and I have 3 weddings coming up.
Order Never Received and Bad Customer Service
I ordered from ThinkGeek on 2/4/17 for a Birthday present needed on 2/24/17. Today is 2/22/17 and the items have not been received. The tracking numbers ThinkGeek provided are not even valid or registered with the shipper. So tracking is not possible. I have emailed and call ThinkGeek customer service, and unlike most businesses that care about keeping customers, they did not offer to send out a replacement. If the original ever showed up I could send it back. No,No,No...just wait until 3/1/17, for it to show up, and it will be investigated. Very dissatisfied in this company and their incompetence and indifference.
Great items, but not so great if you live overseas
I love all the stuff I've bought from thinkgeek. The people I have bought gifts for all love them too, however, the shipping fees are not great, but not insane either (I live in the uk) just beware of the *customs fees*
Try and make your order under $50 or they slap you with a fee at least £8 (I've had a fee of £30 before) even if things are in the sale, and, for example, you buy something for $30 which was $55 you'll still get charged customs. I understand this isn't ThinkGeeks fault, but it's annoying that they don't have a UK based store when there is demand for their products here.
But having said that, I've been happy so far with what I've bought. It's a shame about the shipping and that some items can't be shipped outside the US
Utter Nonsense from start to finish
THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE. I think they hire actual monkeys.... I had to follow up 3 times with my request to get the info I needed. Then the last response was so incomplete, I had to go on their chat function at 2pm and am still waiting (2:27) which is to simply get a shipping label for a return....get it together ThinkGeek. PLUS they make the customer pay for return shipping...utter nonsense to be asked to pay twice for shipping. Cool products but I will never be buying from you again.
Horrible Company!
Very undependable when it comes to delivering on the order one placed. Hours after placing it, you get an email stating that your order has been canceled. Thinkgeek sucks!
Trying to reach customer service is another terrible experience. You are made to wait for so long (>30 mins). The music that plays on the phone as you wait is crap & put in there to make you hang up.
Upon getting through, you learn that the item you ordered hours before is no longer in stock. All the exercise has been a total waste of time. I do hope that this fecal company goes bankrupt to spare consumers from further nightmares.
I'll give them another chance
EDIT: Upon seeing my review, ThinkGeek has apologized and sent me a new ring (via Expedited Shipping) and a $10 gift card. I received the new ring today and was shocked at first finding out that it's black again - but this time only stained from the original packaging, simple silver cleaner gave me a beautiful ring which I craved for for such a long time. Thank you!
ORIGINAL REVIEW: Thank you, ThinkGeek for trying to make things right!
I'm not sure ThinkGeek even takes itself seriously as a seller.
I got a Star Trek ring for Christmas, one I wanted for a really long time so obviously I was very excited to see it under the tree. What a surprise it was when I opened the box and the ring was missing a stone! So I called their help line right away and when a lady asked me to send her pictures of the ring I did so while still on the phone. I expected her to examine the picture right away but instead, she told me that someone would get back to me within the next 48 hours. I waited for a while and then decided to contact their online chat for help. The monkey examined the pictures and gave me RMA number. I sent the ring back the very next day in hopes of getting a new one soon. Two days later I get another e-mail - from the lady I spoke to the first time around asking for the pictures Except she didn't e-mail me, she e-mailed the original buyer, even though she had my e-mail address and knew I got the ring as a gift. In addition, she also wanted pictures of the box and the packaging. I told her I sent the pictures while still on the phone with her and since she didn't help I contacted someone else who did. I also asked her again if she could contact me, not the original buyer, I reminded her I got the ring as a Christmas present. Even after that, she e-mailed the original buyer again asking for the pictures again so I sent her the same ones I sent to the monkey on the chat line.
Again. JUST NOW, three weeks later, I received a new ring and IT'S BLACK! It's as if someone wore it or dropped it into acid and then sent it back and they sent me that exact ring! What the hell?!
Never a Problem that can't be resolved
I LOVE THINKGEEK! I have shopped with them every Christmas time for the past 5 years and if I online shopped more, I would do it all the time. Their products are awesome and always packaged securely. In all these years I have only had two problems: One, the product was not satisfactory and they gave me my money back and apologized for the product and eventually took it off their product list. Two, I had purchased something for my son and it didn't come in with the rest of the items and it was Christmas time for goodness sake! They paid for the expedited shipping and I got my gift on time so no sad faces. I LOVE THEM!!! I also like how they will email you when a product comes back into stock if it is sold out. Also one of my favorite things is the Geek points you get when you earn with purchases. I saved up all my Geek points and bought this beautiful hand bag for my sister in law. It makes me sad all these one star reviews, because ThinkGeek is amazing!!! Where else can you get really cool original trendy gifts except at ThinkGeek. And no, I am not an employee....just a mom with a lot of Geek family!
I love the variety of items available through this website - highly recommended!
I've been a customer of Thinkgeek.com for several years, and have always enjoyed searching their website for the unique items it offers. Their customer service is excellent, and everything I've purchased from them has been delivered either before, or, exactly when they said it would be. If you haven't checked out their website, you should, it is fantastic!
Need to Change Name to "ThinkAgainBeforeOrdering.com"
All I can say is don't use this vendor. I placed an order that I wanted to cancel. I couldn't find a cancel link on their site so you need to start a chat session. Even though the order said it was still processing she said I couldn't cancel it. If I refused shipment I'd still be charged for the item. She didn't even bring up doing an RMA so I asked about that and she said I could, but I have no idea of all the hoops I'd need to go through for that one, but am guessing they would make that as painful as possible. Very very bad customer service and an inventory system that needs to be tossed in the garbage. The best think you could do is to stay away from this site and find it elsewhere. Be suprised if they are still in business within a year.
International Buyers Beware
You will get hit with an absolutely horrible customs fee on top of the already dire shipping price, mine amounts to £60! I'm pleased with the items I bought, but I'm never buying anything from them ever again. The single sentence on the topic of them not being liable or able to predict what the fee from customs will be does not adequately warn potential customers.
Never received my item
I ordered a birthday gift from this website, it said it would take up to two weeks to arrive. After a month I wrote them an email and they said they would investigate it. I didn't hear anything back for another month. It was hard to get in touch , send them multiple email. I serve in the military so couldn't call or wait for hours on the phone. In the end I use the live chat to get in touch. After a lot of "wining" I got back my money, but not the shipping costs. So I stI'll paid close to 10 dollar for nothing. Horrible service. Wouldn't recommend it.
0 inventory control and terrible customer service
Purchased a really nice necklace that was advertised on facebook along with a pair of socks to get a discount. The necklace was later told to be out of stock and socks shipped with full 7.95 shipping cost.
Customer service terribly unhelpful and their "cute" auto responses and signatures just made it worse.
Did not receive my order and was charged.
I wish I could give less than one star. I ordered over 55 dollars worth of christmas presents on this website and only received 2 of my orders. After a month of waiting the other 4 items were put on hold then never shipped. They failed to notify me and still charged me. I had to sit on the phone for 30minutes and all they could do is refund me after I asked them several times to. They would not give me the product for the price it was on sale. This is a horrible company and I will never buy from them again. THINK SMART and shop somewhere else. Just a heads up the four items I ordered were the 4 pack deal with the Beer can steins.
Customer Serive is a JOKE! Don't bother with THINKGEEK.
Wish I could give less than one star. I placed my order and it was immediately put on hold. No explaination, no email. I waited two days for it to change or to charge my credit card before contacting customer service. In the meantime I received an email stating that there was now a 20% off code available. After waiting 25 minutes in que for chatting I finally was connected to Laura, who at first chat had a tone that was less than amiable. She explained that one of the items I had ordered was backordered and wouldn't be in for 3 months and that I would have eventually been notified. We agreed that the order be placed without the backordered item but when I mentioned that I wanted to use the 20% off code Laura stated that since the order had been placed originally before the code was active she would not be able to apply it! I then requested that the entire order be cancelled (so I could go and reorder myself with the 20% off code) and Laura explained that it was too late...even though it hadn't gone through or been charged! After pushing back and going around and around with Laura for 10 minutes (seriously it was like arguing with a bratty teenager) she finally stated that just this ONE TIME (yes she did the caps) her supervisor would allow the use of the 20% off code. So YES I did get what I originally asked for BUT to what end. I will NEVER order from Thinkgeek again, will never recommend to anyone and will in fact do just the opposite. GET WITH IT THINKGEEK! You have the makings of a great company but without at least adequate customer service you will fail.
Patronising customer service
I came to them for help as my brother had sent me a gift from America (I live in Britain) and accidentally left me with customs fees of over 40GBP. Think Geek mention that there will be taxes/fees but a third of the value of goods? Might be nice to give some warning. A brief vague mention does not ethically indemnify you. Also, VAT is not applicable on baby goods or books meaning that their insufficient labelling is also at fault. After a long conversation with customer service it was suggested that I accept the parcel then send it back for a refund. Now it is a good thing I delved deeper into this and realised they had no idea what they were talking about. I asked then if delivery or any fees would be refunded. The answer was no. If I had done this, the cost to me would have possibly doubled. Think Geek would have gotten their goods back and issued a refund to my brother. But the person receiving the gift who had not even elected to do business with this company would be out upwards of 80 GBP as an estimate. They could not understand why I was livid with this advice. A manager spoke with me, pretended to look into the order (thus keeping me hanging on wasting more of my time) then just said they are not liable for customs fees. They are also not responsible for any advice given by their customer service team. A further manager directed me to their vague warning about nebulous possible customs charges. Even after I asked him to stop doing so he continued. My concern is the naivety of customers sending things to loved ones abroad is not being recognised. If you are offering international shipping you have an ethical duty by your customers to aid them in sending it abroad. Also train customer service personnel to give full and accurate advice. And perhaps patronising the unwitting recipients of your merchandise should be frowned upon. Many places sell your merchandise or similar things. It is not unique. The only thing separating you from the pack in a rather harsh economic climate is your customer service. You have failed Think Geek.
In one word...AMAZING!
Ordered 2 items on 23rd November, totaling $90 (after black Friday and other discounts, without discount was about $150). Order was placed with no issues, items were shipped the next day. Items were due to arrive on 1st December (good to note I'm in Australia, so only a week to deliver is amazing in itself), but then the items arrived 2 days EARLY, arriving on 29th November!!! Items were also extremely fragile, and arrived in perfect condition. I can't praise ThinkGeek enough and will be recommending them to EVERYONE. This also isn't the first thing I've ordered from them, and ask previous experiences have been fantastic.
Another unsatisfied customer
Tried to order a $19.99 item and pay via paypal. Paypal goes through order does not complete.
I wait till the next morning and check, still nothing. I go back to their site and the item is still in my cart. So I figure, lets see if I can't fix this the other will clear, so I run it though again, this time paying with a debit card. Still doesn't work, but I do get billed!
Write them and explain the issue. The reply a day later that ther is problem with my first name. For the record I don't have one...
Call them up and talk for thirty six minutes. During which time there amazing customer service rep informs me that his manager says "What kind of person doesn't have a first name?" Okay so now I'm irate and speak with the manager who clears the order and says place it again and everything will be fine. I tell me, no you place the order while I sit here on the phone and you confirm that it went through.
He does, it doesn't, and in the process he tries again four times! So in total I have 6 charges to my account for an order that their website won't complete. He tells me I will have my money back in 24 hours.
Two days later I call and ask, so where is my money? I'm told oh no it takes 3-5 days to clear. Meanwhile I am out $148 until this clears which hampers my ability to purchase anything else over the thanksgiving weekend.
Thanks so much ThinkGeek you will never see my business again.
Fraudulent Item Description and Poor Return Policies
I ordered a light blue Star Trek hoodie as a gift. When I received it, it was teal, almost green, not light blue as pictured and described on their website (hence the fraud). I reached out to exchange for a yellow one. They said because it is not defective, I am responsible for return shipping, although they will send the new color with free shipping...that is not free shipping. I am paying for shipping twice for an item that was improperly described on their website.
I decided not to give THEM any of my money and am just returning the hoodie. I have now wasted double shipping (about $15) and have no merchandise. Hopefully they do refund my money for the purchase as they insist they will (after about 2 weeks of them receiving the merchandise back).
Steals money from accounts
Will take unauthorized money from bank accounts! To me this is stealing! Do not ordar from them. Stuff is over priced anyways!
