WOW. Trust the reviews.

I came to this website looking at the reviews and I was really shocked with all the bad reviews. I decided to still give it a shot and this site (considering I had a gift card). I ordered my item and put my gift card in. I needed to pay $3.21 on my actual card because I only had $20 on my gift card. Pretty normal. I put my card info and get my receipt. $3.21. Sweet! I looked at my bank account and I was charged $43.21. I contacted customer service and homeboy said "oh let me investigate". That was the last I heard of him. I was waiting for HOURS. Till this day I don't know where my $40 is. Just stay away from them.

Horrible! Will never buy from them again!

BEWARE! EXTREMELY POOR CUSTOMER SERVICE & REFUND POLICY!!! Wouldn't cancel an order placed an hour before even thought it would not ship for a few more days. They said item could be returned for credit. Receipent returned shoddy plastic coated glasses set. They did not refund shipping nor refund to my credit card. If I don't want to just give them $50 (order was $61+), I have to order something else from them and pay shipping again. Neither I nor the Receipent of my gift will ever order from them again!

BUYERS BEWARE CUSTOMER SERVICE- DO NOT BUY

This is the first time I review a seller, I bought a product which their website listed the features very ambiguously at best. I believe it was outright misleading, but we can give them the benefit of the doubt about that. However, when I requested a return, they advised me they not only expected me to pick up the outrageous shipping charges back and forth, but their RMA includes language that makes you wander if you will get a full refund when they get it. I am not sure I will return the product, as their approach to customer service adds insult to injury and I would simply be offended if they took the product back and did not give me a credit even for the product. we'll see

don't bother

I bought a t-shirt and sweatshirt from them. I live in NJ where we don't get charged tax on clothing or shoes. I was charged tax on my order then told I was wrong they do charge tax on clothing I have only lived here for 50 years. Then almost a month later my order was still not shipped. Canceled will not do business with them again might even stop doing business with GameStop

Customer Service

I was very pleased with Think Geeks customer service. I had an item that my apartment lost but Think Geek sent my package again for free even though it wasn't their fault.

Problems easily resolved

I rarely encounter problems with ThinkGeek. One of the few times I did was on a Retron5. Their listing claimed AV support, but it only has HDMI. I kept the Retron5 anyway, but notified ThinkGeek of the error. Not only did they correct the product description, they sent me a gift certificate that I used to get a TARDIS Pop!

Their Prices Should Pay for Better Service

If you're into video game or Doctor Who merchandise, you've probably come across the name Thinkgeek at least, once. They tend to have some really cool items from popular series such as Minecraft. As neat as their products are, a lot of them also come at a high price.

Sadly, that cost may be greater than you initially realize if you've ever had to deal with their customer service or had any problem in general. Want to change your order? Hope you decided within 4 minutes of purchase cause the second its status hits "processing" they will refuse to cancel or alter anything - and keep in mind that your order still hasn't left the warehouses, merely that it's now in the queue.

Speaking of queues, I spent roughly an hour in one earlier today trying to get in touch with someone via their Life Chat, which is how you get anywhere with their customer service. After about 20 minutes, I was still number 21 in line, it very briefly reached 19, then shot back up to 20 a couple minutes later. I never made it back to 19 afterwards. Why even have a system like this if you can't manage it?

Hell, I tried to purchase something a couple weeks ago. Not only has it still not shown up yet, the first week I waited it turned out they hadn't even completed the order! Despite my clearly seeing a number and everything via my phone, I discovered on their site that it showed the items still in my cart. If that order hasn't gotten here by the end of this current week, I'm going to try and get it cancelled/refunded.

Shipping/Return policies that border on theft

I placed an order around Christmas with ThinkGeek. I understood it might take longer to ship, especially where I am (Canada). A month later, I contacted them asking for an update as I haven't received my order. Customer service informed me that the order had "made its way back" to its warehouse and they would refund me. When I noticed I only received half the money back, I contacted them again, but they told me that they don't refund shipping in cases where the shipping error is on the customer's side. However my address was perfectly correct, and my buzzer goes straight to my phone, so there's no way I would have missed a shipment. Also the tracking info said the package had never left the state of Ohio. They came up with some excuse of their shipper not updating the info properly, but that it's still somehow my fault.

This is essentially theft. The package clearly never made it to my house, yet they're claiming it's my fault I never received it. How is this an acceptable business practice? ThinkGeek is keen on failing to make an effort to ship their orders and pocketing any money they make off shipping. This is unacceptable. NEVER shop with ThinkGeek.

Terrible company practice

Do not let the hot products and sleek layout fool you.
Ordered items to use a coupon.
Payment went through on hold.

12hrs later, received notice that it was not accepted and i should make a new one or contact them. I cant make a new one because the coupon expired. took over 2 hrs to get an agent.

Was told that I had a freight forwarding address and they do not ship there. I have purchases MANY things more expensive than those orders and it is paypal confirmed and verified. They cancelled and would not budge. For a company that a lot of other sites features on, I think people should stay away and stop supporting them.

Broken gift, no recourse

My son received a new Minecraft torch from a secret santa at school. He was pretty excited to receive the gift but after inserting batteries (and trying all manner of them and methods of insertion) we were unable to get it working. Since I've no idea who purchased it or where the got it I decided to contact the mfg, on the box it says Designed and Manufactured by ThinkGeek Inc. I attempted to use their online help service to get a repair or replacement. They were adamant that they must have the original order# or email address of the person whom purchased the gift.

Basically I was told their products have no warranty, steer clear of anything they manufacture.

A Steady Decline in Customer Service

At the end of every year I purchase gifts on clearance from anywhere I possibly can. The reason I do so is twofold. 1. I utilize the majority of them for toy drives and for charitable causes and I rather not pay full price. Those who know me understand the work we do in this area with local organizations in Compton and the surrounding communities. 2. To a lesser extent, I give them away as presents. Finding toys for young children is a lot easier than finding quirky cheap items for teenagers or older individuals which is why I enjoyed the ThinkGeek selection. A quick visit to my home will find a trove of items ready to be donated or gifted. ThinkGeek sent me via email a code for 10%, 20%, and 30% off. I was delighted to see that it was applicable to all their items so I proceeded to place a large order. The final tally, even after trimming it down was over $2k. But I was delighted to have saved over $1k because of the 30%. The following day ThinkGeek sends me an email stating that my order was cancelled but did not state a reason for it. For three days, I attempt to call Think Geek or engage them via their Live Chat. During my longest attempt I waited 45 minutes on Live Chat for an agent and was not successful. My various emails, to date, have never been responded to. I have confirmation that tickets were created but the 2 day response turnaround has come and gone. Yesterday I decide that I will not fail and I waited for over half an hour on the phone for a customer service rep to pick up my call. Once the rep appeared on the phone there was an air that can best be described as frustration and coldness. I have called companies before and there is, at the very least, an acknowledgement, that a customer has waited. Therefore normally a conversation begins with a brief, sincere, "thank you for waiting." Not here. Instead it was o.k. you're next, what do you want. I commented on my wait to the customer service rep and it was responded to with silence and an awkward, "yeah we're busy here." I gave the rep my name to which, during the entirety of the conversation, she mispronounced. I proceeded to explain the above to the rep who after a moment stated, "you ordered too much stuff, you can't order more than 5 of the same item." To this I replied with a twofold answer: 1. O.k., no problem, I can reduce any items over 5 to the allowed amount and 2. why did your site make no mention of this at all? Why did the order go through and why did the email sent canceling my order make no mention of this "hidden" policy. Her answer blew me away. "We did stop you; we canceled your order." I informed her that she was missing the point of my question to which she replied, "Look I just started working here...I don't know." I asked if there was someone who can help me with my order. After a 4 minute wait, a person named Rocky (I think) identifying himself as a supervisor got on the phone. I also gave the supervisor my name to which, during the entirety of the conversation, he mispronounced. I will pause to say that from the moment he got on the phone I knew two things just from the tone of his voice, 1. this guy was not going to help me and 2. he didn't care. I explained everything above to him including the interaction with the rep. He grunted (yes, he grunted) and simply mumbled something to the effect of, "yeah...well sorry." Then he repeated the 5 a piece hidden policy and I repeated my answer that I had no problem with that. He then grilled me as to why I wanted so much stuff; a question that really bothered me because 1. it was none of his business and 2. it is not relevant. But I kept my composure and informed him that I purchase these items on clearance mostly for charitable causes. Then he sarcastically says, "well it's nice that you can do that." I did not know what to do at this point. He then states that he will contact corporate and get their response. With his enthusiasm, I already knew what my fate was going to be. What completely shocked me, the final insult, was that he did call me back and left me a message. Because I am rarely home I have as my mailing address one of the stores I own (some of you know that I own several businesses); this store in particular sells apparel, art and collectibles. They told me that they did not want me getting the items at such a big discount because I owned the store. My jaw dropped. I own several stores and what I ordered would make no dent in the inventory i.e. the order is insignificant quantity wise; but they told me that, no, they did not want me having the items and that I can always order them at full price (as if I did not know that). In essence, I own a store and, to quote them, "they did not want me making a lot of money off this stuff" so they will not honor the order. In the past my experiences with Think Geek have been positive but I am witnessing a decline.

If I could give less stars I would...

I ordered some products over thanksgiving weekend thinking there is more than enough time to get the goods before Christmas. How very wrong I was!!

The day after I placed my order I received a dispatch email and a tracking number. The following day I tracked the order and it stated label created. Two days later it says the same. I emailed them asking if the order had in fact been dispatched, they told me they had received the order. Not what I asked. I emailed asking asking them to confirm dispatch....same reply. I went on live chat and asked the same question. After 30minutes and only 3 responses from their agent could only tell me the order had been received meaning the dispatch email was a lie.

At this point I lost confidence and involved PayPal. I told them I wanted to cancel the order. Think geek responded with the tracking which has now began updating! However 2 days later it had stopped. And it still hasn't updated. PayPal found in my favour and fully refunded me.

Do not use this company. Their CS is appalling. If you do decide to risk it, use PayPal at all costs. Make sure you're verified so you're fully protected. PayPal will step in when ThinkGeek inevitably screw you over!

UNFORGIVABLY HORRIBLE

I'M STRONGLY RECOMMENDING THAT NO ONE EVER DO BUSINESS WITH THIS COMPANY. I have been trying to buy a friend a gift certificate for his birthday on this site for the past month. Each time, their automated system cancels the order the following morning and sends me an email advising of some conflict with the billing information. All while a hold is placed on my account for the order total for up to a week an a half. No one working at ThinkGeek can tell me the specific issue.

In my entire life I have never ever had this problem with any other website I've placed an order with. If you think that I'm alone on this view just take a look at all the problems from customers HERE ON THIS PAGE!

wouldn't even give it one star.

Horrible. I placed an order for $59 on black friday (November 28th). This is my first and last order from Thinkgeek. My package reached my town on the 7th, to the WRONG address, and i reviewed my order it was their fault, and was returned to sender one day later (december 8th) so i started calling around to find out what was going on. The FIRST call i was on hold for 40 minutes (which after reading these reviews sounds like not very long), and when someone finally answered she sounded very monotone and like she could give a ****. She told me to call UPS and see if i could have them reroute it back to my address and that if it is returned to them that i would get my refund and i could reorder those items. Makes no sense, why would i want to go through all that again?! And i ordered on black Friday for a reason..i called ups they said it was delivered to the post office. I called the post office they said it wasn't there. I called ups again they said yes it is, gave me a tracking number. Post office said it was returned to sender in Ohio. Now I'm on hold with Thinkgeek for the second time, 65 minutes in, the music is giving me a horrible headache, and I'm going to be demanding to speak to the supervisor. I'm very disappointed, i was looking forward to these Christmas presents for my family, but the hassle is not worth it. I understand it's the holidays and it's chaotic but no one knows where my package with $60 worth of product in it is so I'm frusterated. Thinking of contacting the better business Bureau if they are unable to help me this time as well. Totally ridiculous. I thought i would love this site, everything looks amazing. But the customer service is absolutely horrible.

Absolutely terrible

Let's see, first I tried to buy something off their website, and my card was declined because of my own cardholder company. But once I sorted that out and tried to continue with the transaction half an hour later, it was already canceled. I tried to redo my order, but now it refuses to let me continue past the address stage. I tried to get in contact with the customer service on the website, but after 12 minutes of waiting, the rep closed the connection after one line from me. I've also been on hold for over 10 minutes on the phone. If you want your geeky goods, just go on amazon. It should be a much less frustrating experience.

Order cancelled without any reason or notification

I'm sorry to share a bad experience, but I think this shop does not treat their customers with honesty.
I have ordered a bunch of things from ThinkGeek, I've got a confirmation e-mail that everything is ok. Then nothing happened, I haven't received the items. Later on, I have checked that my order was cancelled without any apparent reason and most importantly ANY NOTIFICATION.
I have had to contact ThinkGeek on their web site and I just received an answer that it's for "policy reasons". I tried to solve the problem but there was no intention from their side. I hope I will receive my money back.

US EXCLUSIVE/UNORDERABLE PRODUCTS

Basically US exclusive on every decent product i tried to buy, from game of thrones glass, zelda/guardians of galaxy charm beads, starcraft 2 usb charger list goes on, clearly these people dont like money and UK business, had to say no and disappoint my son to some of his christmas presents because of this company.

No excuse in my opinion, you should only let people from the US on your site because only they can order. Bravo... the shipping prices was very high also on the few basic items you could actually buy like slippers and i order from america alot, even on small items, shipping cost twice, three times the cost of the actual product.... Live chat was also down, so also took about a week to speak to useless support, dont use this company for anything.

Problem after problem

I ordered for the first time from here in the UK. I placed my order and immediately needed to amend it, but there was no way to do that that I was able to find. As there is a time difference, I was not able to contact customer service until 3 hours later. When their customer service office opened, I attempted to do a live chat. This was a waste of time. The agent was able to offer no help often giving simple one-word statements that dismissal. I asked if there was anyone else who could help to which the response was a simple abrupt dismissal... "No". I asked for the customer service number and immediately called them to request upping the quantity of one of the items on my order. The stated that there was nothing they could do. A pain, but it is what it is. At this point I contemplated putting in another order but thought I'd hold off a day or two. I am glad I waited now because while my order cost me $67; the shipping was $46. But I really wanted the items and decided it was worth the extra money. It was also helpful that I had found a free promotional item to add to my order to offset the purchase price slightly. But while waiting, my promotional item was canceled due to being "out of stock". And I was also messaged by the delivery company stating that I owned an additional $37 for customs and tax making the grand total of Delivery $83. More than my actual order. Again I did live chat support. Again, no help. I was told of fine print which stated that custom charges were not included. I again asked if there was someone I could speak with who may be able to help. This time the agent gave me a wrong number and I had to look up the phone number myself. When I got an agent on the phone, she empathised but stated there was nothing to be done. The agent did offer me a $10 voucher but little good that does me when the price to ship from this company costs over the amount of the original purchase. I requested that refund be put back onto my card. The agent was not able to authorize this so she offered to pass me along to her supervisor. After sitting on hold (which is costing me international rates) she came back on the line to tell me her supervisor was on another line. I could hold or give my phone number and she would get back to me. She never called.
I had even selected to send the items to the UK when placing my order so it could calculate the appropriate amount to get the items to me. The amount to "ship" the item should be the amount that it costs me to GET the item. I have had deliveries from the US using Amazon and Thailand using Etsy and none of these packages required additional delivery fees. This is unacceptable practice as well as unacceptable customer service. I won't be ordering from ThinkGeek in the future even once back in the US. In addition, I have geeky family and friends in the US who have refused to purchase from them going forward. What would make this right for me at this point would be to refund the $37 back onto my card. I would also like them to add a tick box to their order form when selecting delivery to the UK which asks that you understand there may be additional customs and taxes due. This wouldn't undo the fact that I did not get one of my items due to their inadequate stalking during a promotion, but it would definitely give me faith in ThinkGeek's ability to look out for their customers and the relationship they have with them.

They apparently don't like money

I tried placing an order for some Christmas gifts for my husband, and my order was auto-cancelled by their system. The automated email stated there was something "unusual" about the order, and therefore it was cancelled. The reason given in the email said it usually is due to billing information not matching up. I double checked to make sure I did not make any typos, and the information was correct. When I called their customer service department the information they said was wrong was my zip code. I did not use the wrong zip code, my billing information has been the same for years. The only advice customer service gave me was to call my bank and ask them what my billing zip code was, even though the email says:

"Another option: bypass the TimmyBot 9000 entirely and talk to a human.
That's why we're here. Give us a ring at 888-433-5788. 24 hours a day, 7
days a week, and we'll help get your geeky stuff on its way to you."

Of course, when I called their customer service they just said to call my bank and then call back. I tried placing the order again, and it was cancelled again. So apparently, ThinkGeek doesn't like money. what kind of business does business by not letting people purchase things? I won't be trying to conduct business with them in the future, I'll have to find another way to get the same items or we'll just go without.
