MY REPLY TO TN NURSERY,

MY REPLY TO TN NURSERY,

YOU (TN NURSERY) MAY HAVE INDEED BEEN AROUND SINCE 1959....BUT CONSIDER WHERE YOU WERE THEN....AND WHERE YOU ARE NOW.
IN 1959 ALONG WITH YOUR FAMILY YOUR BUSINESS BEGAN.
EVERY ONE OF YOUR FAMILY MEMBERS WORKED EACH AND EVERY DAY TO MAKE A GO OF THE "FAMILY BUSINESS ".
PEOPLE WORKING ALONGSIDE OTHER PEOPLE.
PEOPLE WHO ARE TRYING TO DO THEIR VERY BEST EACH DAY FOR EACH OF THEIR CUSTOMERS. THIS IS CALLED " DEDICATION AND PRIDE ".
CONSIDERING THE CHANGING TIMES AND THE DIFFICULT TIMES BACK THEN .....WOULD YOUR "FAMILY OPERATED BUSINESS ".....HAVE LASTED IF BACK THEN CUSTOMERS WERE DEALT WITH.....IN A SIMILAR WAY TO HOW I'VE BEEN DEALT WITH?
BECAUSE.....THAT'S ALL THAT HAS BEEN DONE.
NO I PERSONALLY DON'T THINK THAT THIS ENTIRE INCIDENT WOULD HAVE EVER HAPPENED.
A LIVING BREATHING PERSON WOULD HAVE POSSIBLY STOPPED BY TO MAKE A DECISION....TO MAKE A PURCHASE. THIS INDIVIDUAL IS NO BETTER THAN ANYONE ELSE. YET THEY BOUGHT SOMETHING FROM TN NURSERY.
ANOTHER SALE TOOK PLACE, AND ANOTHER ONE.
SUDDENLY IT'S REALIZED BY ENTIRE FAMILY THAT YOUR BUSINESS HAS A CHANCE.
WELL HERE WE ARE 67 YEARS LATER.
TIMES HAVE CHANGED.
PEOPLE HAVE CHANGED.
EVERYTHING AROUND EVERYTHING ELSE HAS CHANGED.
THINGS ARE DONE FASTER.
EVERYONE MOVES FASTER.
EVERYTHING COSTS A GREAT DEAL MORE.
YOUR "FAMILY BUSINESS " WAS RUN BY LIVING BREATHING PEOPLE.
PEOPLE WHO TOOK PRIDE IN THE JOB THAT THEY DID.
LIVING BREATHING PEOPLE WHO ARE WORKING JUST AS HARD AS THE NEXT GUY.
THESE DEDICATED INDIVIDUALS MAKE SURE THAT YOUR PRODUCT IS THE BEST PRODUCT.
THESE HARD WORKING PEOPLE DOUBLE CHECK EVERYTHING TO MAKE SURE THAT THE PRODUCT IS THE VERY BEST AVAILABLE.
BACK THEN IT WAS FAMILY AND PRIDE THAT WOULD SUSTAIN A FAMILY BUSINESS.
TODAY INSTEAD PEOPLE ARE BEING REPLACED BY COMPUTERS OR MACHINES.
COMPUTERS WHO DON'T HAVE TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE CONTENTS, OR THE SHIPPING TIME.
THEY DON'T HAVE TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT THE MARKINGS ON THE PRODUCT.
ALL THE COMPUTER HAS TO BE CONCERNED ABOUT IS BEING PLUGGED INTO THE WALL OUTLET.
NO FEELING, NO UNDERSTANDING, NO EMPATHY
OR REGARD FOR THE NEXT CUSTOMER.
TODAY IS HURRY UP.....GET IT DONE.
HURRY UP....GET MORE DONE.
OH YEAH......DON'T WORRY ABOUT WHETHER THE ORDER IS " CLEARLY MARKED".
BLACK SHARPIE MARKINGS ON A CLEAR PLASTIC ZIPLOCK BAG....THAT CONTAINS DARK MATERIAL. TRY IT OUT YOURSELF.
I DON'T THINK SO!
CLEAR MARKINGS IS "CLEAR MARKINGS"....USE A WHITE SHARPIE.
OR EVEN BLACK SHARPIE ON A CHEAP WHITE LABEL WOULD WORK BETTER.
ORDERS THAT COME IN SHOULD BE PROCESSED WHEN THEY COME IN.....NO MATTER HOW MANY ORDERS BY ANY ONE PERSON IS PLACED OVER ANY GIVEN TIME FRAME.
BEING SHIPPED LIKE TN NURSERY DID.....DID ABSOLUTELY NOTHING EXCEPT RUIN YOUR PRODUCT.
A WEEKS DIFFERENCE...IS EXACTLY THAT....A WEEKS DIFFERENCE. TN NURSERY SHOULD STICK THEMSELVES INTO A ZIPLOCK BAG FOR LONGER THAN THE ADVERTISED 10-14 DAY PERIOD.
I JUST WANTED TN NURSERY TO MAYBE REMEMBER WHO THEY ARE DEALING WITH OUT HERE IN THE WORLD.
LIVING, BREATHING HARD WORKING INDIVIDUALS....WHO THOUGHT THAT WHEN THEY PLACED AN ORDER WITH YO
U @ TN NURSERY....THAT THE VERY LEAST THAT THEY
WOULD EXPECT WOULD BE TO TREATED WITH SOME DEGREE OF GENUINE INTEREST AND
MUTUAL INTEREST AND UNDERSTANDING WITH SOME DEGREE OF EMPATHY & CONCERN EXHIBITED
BY HARD WORKING PEOPLE....INSTEAD OF A CONGLOMERATION OF CIRCUITS AND WIRES THAT DOESN'T HONOR WHAT YOUR FAMILY HAS SPENT THE PAST 67 YEARS BUILDING.
YOUR "ROSIE AI SYSTEM " DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO CARE.
IT DOESN'T KNOW HOW TO EMPATHIZE.
IT JUST DOESN'T WANT TO UNDERSTAND.
GOING FORWARD NOW.

RESPECT AND PRIDE, UNDERSTANDING AND COMMITMENT NOW RIDES IN THE HANDS OF AN " AI INTELLIGENCE "!
AN INTELLIGENCE THAT IS REALLY SO VERY VERY STUPID.

BEST OF LUCK TO ROSIE.
BEST OF LUCK TO TN NURSERY.
HOPING THAT YOU SUCCEED WITH ALL OF YOUR "FAMILY BUSINESS MEMBERS " FUTURE ENDEAVORS.

SAD PART ABOUT ALL OF THIS.
HARD WORKING PEOPLE GOT TN UP TO THIS POINT.

YOUR AI SYSTEM MAY BE A COST SAVER AS WELL SOMEONE WHO DOESN'T NEED, WANT OR REQUIRE TIME OFF....OR ANYTHING ELSE EXCEPT AN ELECTRIC OUTLET.

I WORK HARD FOR EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR THAT I HAVE.
I'VE ALWAYS TRIED TO RESPECT EVERY PERSON THAT I'VE ENCOUNTERED WITH RESPECT AND PRIDE AND UNDERSTANDING.
YOU OBVIOUSLY DIDN'T HAVE THESE VIRTUES INSTILLED IN YOU BY SOMEONE WHO REALLY HAD TO WORK HARD FOR EVERY SINGLE DOLLAR.
YOUR ROSIE AI SYSTEM HASN'T IMPRESSED ME AT ALL.
YOUR TELLING ME THAT YOU AGREE WITH ME ABOUT THIS AND THAT

OR THAT THIS IS TO HELP WITH THIS AND THAT.
ALL IN ALL IS ONLY A BIG BUNCH DOUBLETALK AND IGNORED THE ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.
I CHOSE TO SPEND MY $90.00 WITH TN NURSERY.
I WAS PROMISED A QUALITY PRODUCT .
I WAS PROMISED THAT MY $90.00 ORDER WAS PREPARED AND SENT TO ME .
SO THAT I COULD THEN PLANT AND ENJOY THESE ITEMS IN OUR GARDEN.
TN NURSERY WILL NOT LET THIS HAPPEN.

Patrick, thank you for taking the time to share your thoughts. We truly respect the fact that you recognize the history of our family-owned nursery, which has proudly served customers since 1959.

You're absolutely right that people matter. While we use AI to help answer common questions and improve response times, real people review customer emails and concerns, and we're continually improving that experience based on customer feedback.

We also appreciate your suggestions regarding our plant labeling. Our bags are hand-labeled by our staff, and we are always looking for ways to make them easier to read.

Regarding shipping, our estimated processing time during the spring season is 10–14 business days, and we work hard to ship every order as quickly as possible while maintaining plant quality.

We genuinely appreciate your feedback and wish you the very best.

Stay Away

Stay Away. They'll send you dead plants. If you call them right after receiving, they'll tell you to wait as they are "dormant" and if you call them a few days later (one week in my case) they'll tell you that you called too late and your plants are not covered under warranty.

We're sorry you feel this way. We do not ship dead plants, and many bare-root plants arrive dormant, which is why we ask customers to perform the simple scratch test included with every shipment before assuming a plant is dead.

Our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee is designed to cover plants that arrive in poor condition and requires customers to contact us within the guarantee period so we can verify the condition upon arrival. Unfortunately, once that period has passed, we can no longer determine whether an issue existed at delivery or developed afterward.

Denied refund for dead dormant trees due to unfair 24-hour policy

I ordered two dormant persimmon trees from TN Nursery. Because they were dormant, there was no way to know their condition until spring. When spring arrived, neither tree revived. Both are completely dead. When I contacted customer service, they refused to issue a refund or replacement, citing their strict 24-hour return policy. Expecting a customer to verify if a dormant bare-root tree is alive within 24 hours of delivery is completely unrealistic. Buyer beware—their warranty policy does not support the gardener.

We're sorry to hear about your experience. Dormant bare-root trees can appear lifeless even when they are healthy, which is why every shipment includes instructions for performing a simple scratch test to verify whether the tree is alive upon arrival.

Our 100% Live Arrival Guarantee covers plants that arrive in poor condition. For customers who would like protection beyond arrival, we offer an optional extended warranty at checkout. While some companies include longer warranties in their pricing, we prefer to let customers choose the level of protection that best fits their needs rather than increasing prices for everyone.

We're sorry to hear your order didn't meet your expectations. During our peak spring season, shipping times can be longer due to high demand. Many of the plants we ship are bare-root and dormant, so it's normal for some varieties to take several weeks—or even until the following growing season—to emerge, depending on the species.

Still my review same, it's up to other customer
I had a very disappointing experience with Tennessee Wholesale Nursery. I ordered six plants online in November 2025, and they were delivered on December 18. Since it was winter, I could not plant them right away and waited until the weather improved in the spring. After planting them, all six plants died.

When I contacted the company, they told me their return and replacement policy had already expired and would not help in any way. I ended up losing over $112.97 with no resolution.

I understand that plants can sometimes fail, but I expected better customer service and a reasonable solution, especially considering the timing of the delivery. My experience was very frustrating, and I would encourage potential customers to carefully review the company's policies before ordering. I would not purchase from Tennessee Wholesale Nursery again.

This version is factual, based on your experience, and helps other customers make an informed decision.

Thank you for your review.

We would first note that this review appears to have been drafted with AI assistance, which may explain why certain important details regarding live plant care and dormant-season shipping were omitted.

The most important fact is that live plants cannot simply be stored for months until "better weather" arrives. Dormant trees and plants are shipped during their proper planting season and should be planted or properly heeled in according to the instructions provided. Leaving live plant material unplanted for an extended period can significantly affect survival and establishment.

We also provide a QR code with every shipment that explains how to determine whether dormant plants are alive upon arrival and outlines proper handling procedures.

As a family-owned nursery serving customers since 1959, we do not knowingly ship dead plants and stand behind our Live Arrival Guarantee. However, we cannot be responsible for plants that are stored for extended periods before planting.

I ordered trees from TN nursery

I ordered trees from TN nursery. They were ordered in spring. They were supposed to come in the fall. They did not arrive until December. They told me to keep them in the basement. I did that, planted them, they are dead. They will not replace them. So they sent them late and they are dead. When you call them you get AI and cannot speak to a person.

Denise,

We're sorry you're disappointed. However, December is within the normal dormant-season shipping window for many trees and does not indicate that the trees were shipped late or improperly.

We also want to clarify that while we use automated tools to assist customers, real team members review emails, orders, and customer concerns every day. Many issues are successfully resolved through our support team.

As a family-owned nursery serving customers since 1959, we strive to provide accurate planting and storage instructions and apply our policies fairly to all customers. If you would like management to review your order personally, please email help@tnnursery.net.

I say again, "Pictures of WHAT???!!"

I ordered four separate species from TN Nursery. I'm a repeat cutomer who has never complained before. I was trying to fill in a sunny wet spot and a shade garden. I got an email on May 10 stating that my order was being prepared for shipping. The notice of actual shipping was EIGHTEEN days later. On the face of it, it would appear my plants sat in packaging for eighteen days. No-one contacted me to advise of a shipping delay. Minus one star for shipping delay; minus another star for lack of communication.

When my plants arrived, the Solomon's Seal was utter mush. But worse, I had ordered Lobelia, yet TN Nursery unilaterally decided that it was okay to substitute Red Day Lily. They did not contact me to ask if the substitution would be acceptable. I also complained that the Red Trillium I ordered had broken tubers or rhizomes. Of four species, only Indian Pink seemed to be healthy and what I ordered. Minus two stars for shipping what ever they wanted to get rid of instead of what I ordered.

I promptly complained within a few hours. Customer service was horrible. RepX focused solely on one thing--pictures. I asked repeatedly exactly what this means when the issue is the fact they did not send an ordered plant. I can't exactly take a picture of something I don't have and a picture of the empty box seems like I'm trying to be a smart aleck. I've tried to explain this repeatedly, but "RepX" is stuck on stupid and can only repeat her broken-record mantra loophole--"Send Pictures" and utterly refuses to discuss the actual issue. Minus two stars for horrible customer service.

I discovered later that the Red Trillium's broken rhizome is a non-issue, it's a standard practice. It will probably grow, since it didn't rot. But RepX didn't bother to tell me that and save me some of the stress. Minus one star for bad communication.

So, I didn't take pictures of the rotted Solomon's Seal, and I concede I should have if I had been familiar with their customer service policy, but I wasn't, and I followed their instructions on what to do immediately upon arrival, which didn't say anything about pictures. (It would be good to include that in the immediate instructions.) So, I could accept no pictures as a reason not to do anything about the Solomon's Seal--except they can prove with their own shipping records that they left my order to rot in packaging for 18 days. (Edit: TN replies that, essentially, their email of May 10 doesn't really mean what it seems to say. I'll attempt further negotiation since someone is actually making informed and relevant responses, but I will not accept the notion that the May 10 email doesn't mean what it says. It's not looking good. If their emails aren't easy to understand and mean what they seem to say, that's bad communication.)

And that leaves "send pictures" as an utter loophole excuse to refuse to address the Red Cardinal Lobelia they didn't send, and utterly refuse to explain what it is they want a picture of in the circumstance that I'm complaining of where they did not send the ordered plant. Minus three stars for standing on an irrelevant loophole and failing to explain what it is I'm supposed to take a picture of.

I get it; publicly stated return policies are good business. But forgetting that your own company's policies are waivable, and that sometimes waiving the return policy is necessary for good business is inexcusable. Or, if your computer system won't process without some kind of picture, kindly tell me that a picture of the empty box is okay. I'm not sending a picture of an empty box on my own in case they try to argue to my bank when it's time for a chargeback that I didn't take things seriously and responded frivilously to their 'legitimate' requirement of taking pictures.

I'm fed up with "RepX." The $34 is not worth the infuriation and stress. My therapist advises me that I'm completely justified in asking my bank for a chargeback. I haven't done that yet. Maybe someone who is not an idiot or trying to cheat me will respond to this public complaint and make things right.

I can only say that they'll have to go "far above and beyond" to keep me as a customer. There are simply way too many bare root and live plant nurseries out there to choose from, and a great many of them have much better all around performance than TN Nursery and won't put you through this kind of aggravation.

Again, I ask What am I supposed to take a picture of? And even if there is an appropriate response HERE, it still doesn't solve the problem of why couldn't we resolve this logically in private? If they want repeat business, they have to do something to compensate all the undue stress and aggravation for being very difficult to work with.

Unfortunately I am forced to give them one star when I'd prefer no stars.

Edited to remove Repx's name at TN request.

We are sorry you feel this way.

The reason our team requests photos is not to create obstacles but to document plant condition, verify substitutions, identify plants received, and help determine the most appropriate resolution. In cases involving a substitution concern, photos of the plants received help us verify exactly what was shipped and what may have been received.

We also want to clarify that an order being prepared for shipment does not mean it is sitting boxed for that entire period. Orders move through multiple fulfillment stages before shipment and tracking activation.

As a family-owned nursery serving customers since 1959, we strive to assist every customer fairly and consistently. We are glad to hear that the Red Trillium concern turned out not to be a defect and that the Indian Pink arrived healthy.

If you would like management to review the matter directly, please email help@tnnursery.net with your order number and any photos you have available. We are always willing to review concerns and determine whether additional action is appropriate.

I purchased 3 plants on the buy one get…

I purchased 3 plants on the buy one get one free promotion. Some (not all) of the PawPaw and Kousa trees came out of dormancy. The fig trees were likely DOA as they haven't come out of dormancy in a month and a half. They actually shipped extra of all except the fig trees, so for the Kousa and PawPaw, I actually got what I paid for as the extra were dead anyway. I thought it was nice of them at the time, but now I'm sure they do that because they know some will be dead. Unfortunately, they didn't ship extra of the fig, and both were dead. The entire order shipped late due to weather apparently, as stated by TN. Because the order was shipped late and arrive during a time I was out of town, I was not able to follow their "contact within 24 hours" rule if there's anything wrong, so I planted and hoped for the best. TN does expect you to purchase an extra warranty if you want any coverage as all, as I expect that they know they ship dead plants. Unfortunately, their customer service is rather useless as well. When I finally received the order and opened it, I thought "what a great company, sending extra trees at no cost" - but knowing why now, and understanding they prefer to lose a customer rather than replace a $35 order, I'll be sure to check other nurseries instead for future purchases for my small orchard, as I generally expand yearly.

We are sorry to hear you were disappointed.

First, we would like to clarify that extra plants are occasionally included as part of promotions, inventory availability, or to provide additional value to customers—not because we expect plants to fail. In your own review, you mention that some of the Pawpaw and Kousa trees successfully came out of dormancy.

Fig trees can be among the slower plants to break dormancy, and dormant bare-root plants often show no signs of growth for weeks after planting. This is why every shipment includes a QR code with instructions on how to perform a scratch test to determine whether a plant is alive.

Regarding warranties, we offer optional extended protection for customers who want coverage beyond arrival. While some companies include longer warranties in their pricing, we prefer to let customers choose the level of protection that best fits their needs rather than increasing prices for everyone.

As a family-owned nursery serving customers since 1959, we appreciate every customer and are always willing to review concerns. If you'd like us to take another look at your order, please email help@tnnursery.net.

1 out of 7 plants survived. Zero trees survived. I have lots of thriving plant life in my yard. After a hassle they replaced one, back when there was a year guarantee. Now you have to pay $20 and shipping. It’s a plant business, not microprocessors. They are running a racket. More profit than business. Yay from Lowe’s.

Hi,

We’re sorry you feel this way, but we do need to clarify several important points.

Our plants are shipped bareroot and dormant, and survival after planting can vary depending on soil, moisture, weather, and transplant conditions. Even experienced gardeners can see mixed results, especially with certain species.

We did previously work with you and provided a replacement, which shows we made an effort to resolve your concern.

We do offer an optional extended warranty at checkout, and our standard 24-hour live arrival guarantee is clearly stated and agreed to at purchase. This is in place so plant condition can be verified at delivery.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and statements calling us a “racket” or implying misconduct are not accurate. Reviews like this do impact small businesses like ours.

If you’d like us to review your order again, please email help@tnnursery.net.

Thank you. 🌱

Mixed review

3 bags were perfect, but 2 arrived completely rotten
On the positive side, three of the bags arrived with no damage at all. The paper inside them was perfectly moist, not soaking wet. However, the other two bags were a disaster. One bag had roots rotten and covered in white mold, and in another bag, two out of three plants had melted into a soggy, stinky paste.
Tip for the seller: Please make sure to squeeze out excess water from the paper before shipping. There shouldn't be standing water in the bags. Even with quick 3-day shipping, too much water will completely ruin the plants!

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback—we do appreciate you sharing both the positive and negative.

We’re glad to hear that most of the plants arrived in good condition. Regarding the others, what you’re describing can sometimes happen with bareroot plants in transit, where moisture levels and temperature can affect how they appear on arrival.

If a plant is truly non-viable, it will typically be mushy or decomposed, but this is something that needs to be reported within our 24-hour arrival window so we can properly verify and address it.

We also appreciate your suggestion on packaging and will take that into consideration as we continue to improve.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and feedback like this helps us get better.
