Most of the products that I have purchased have been great. However I had no growth issues with the Mimosa tree that I previously purchased from you. Also the Hydrangeas and Shasta Daisy have not shown any signs of life yet. Not that excited how they were shipped.

Hi,

We understand your concern and we apologize for the delay.

During our spring rush, processing times can extend to 3–4 weeks as we dig plants fresh and fulfill a high volume of orders.

We’re glad to hear you received extra plants, as we often include additional stock to add value. If one arrived in poor condition, that should be reported within our 24-hour arrival window so we can verify and address it.

First it took over 30 days to get my order and I couldn’t talk to the bot on the site because I never received the email with my order number. At 15 days I called them and they said they had a drought and that’s why I didn’t get them yet. So it was another 15 days before I actually got the bulbs. Second the way they were packaged was so unprofessional, there wasn’t an invoice and they were in zip lock bags where someone wrote in red marker what was in each baggie and the bulbs were terrible. I hope they work because it’s allot of work to plant them all. It took us two days to figure out what it said. We bought 48 bulbs and are missing several of the bulbs. Now when I call the number I had, it says they are no longer taking calls, go to the email. Yes, I did send an email but haven’t heard anything yet.

Hi,

We’re sorry for your frustration, but we do need to clarify several important points.

First, regarding timing—your order was delayed due to field conditions (drought), which directly impacts when plants can be safely harvested. We do not ship plants when conditions could damage their viability, which is why delays can occur during peak season.

Second, our plants are shipped bareroot and dormant, and packaging in labeled bags is standard for this type of product. They are not shipped as potted retail plants, and appearance can differ from expectations, but that does not mean they are poor quality.

Regarding your concern about missing items, all shortages must be reported within our 24-hour arrival window so we can verify and correct them while the order is still intact.

We also want to clarify that we do respond to customers, but during our spring rush, response times can be delayed due to high volume.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and reviews like this do impact small businesses like ours. We do not send out poor or incomplete products intentionally.

If you’d still like us to review your order, please email help@tnnursery.net, and we will take another look.

Thank you. 🌱

Great plants, awful customer service

Pros: the plants were small but mighty - they appeared in good health and more than what I ordered was in each bag. (I ordered 2 goldenseal, and 2 decent sized ones and a tiny one were in there. It was like this for almost all my plants- impressive!)
Cons: order accuracy, return policy and communication
I ordered about $100 worth of plants in January. In April I still hadn’t received them. I looked up my order said I had not paid, so I went through my credit card and I had indeed paid. I called them and they told me I must have paid because they were ready to be sent out. But they couldn’t tell me why my account said I had not paid. Next, I got an email saying the weather was too dry to dig up plants and they would be delayed. So, I didn’t think too much of it when I received a partial order. A month later, I still hadn’t received my willow trees or 2 of my ferns. I called and asked where they were. They told me if I had issues, I had to call by the day after I received the package or they couldn’t do anything about it. I was frustrated because I felt that was unreasonable given the message that some items were delayed. Also, I pushed back as the size and weight of the package (a small box of bare root plants) could not have possibly fit the trees I had ordered. They eventually said they would send them out. I waited 2 more weeks for that package and still nothing. I had to call a 3rd time to get them sent out. I finally received my willows and walking ferns in June. A few days later, I received an invoice asking me to pay the order- that I had paid for in January!! They looked it up, and they acknowledged that I had paid. Come on people, get it together.

I’m undecided if I will order from them again. The price is good when one buys in bulk, and the plants are coming up nicely. However, that was a LOT of follow up on my part. 3 phone calls and multiple emails- I had to constantly chase them down to get what I ordered.

Hi,

Thank you for your detailed feedback—we do appreciate you taking the time to share it.

We’re glad to hear the plants arrived healthy and even exceeded expectations in quantity. That’s something we take a lot of pride in as a family-owned and operated nursery.

That said, we do apologize for the experience you had with order tracking and communication. During our peak season, delays can occur due to field conditions and high order volume, but we agree that communication should have been clearer and more consistent.

Regarding partial shipments, some items are shipped separately based on availability and digging conditions, which can cause confusion if not clearly communicated.

We also want to clarify that our 24-hour arrival policy applies to verifying condition at delivery, but we understand your frustration given the staggered shipments and will take this feedback seriously as we improve our process.

We appreciate your patience in working through this and are glad to hear the plants themselves are doing well. Reviews like this do matter to us as a small business, and we are actively working to improve the experience.

If you decide to order again, please feel free to reach out directly to help@tnnursery.net, and we will make sure your order is handled more smoothly.

Thank you. 🌱

I just received a small package

I just received a small package. Inside were 3 baggies. Inside of each, what I suspect are 5 roots of Ferns that I ordered nearly a month ago. No instructions, no pictures. I am soo disappointed in your company and product!
Please stop solicitating me with offers to purchase more shitty product that'll take a month to get here with no pictures or instructions!...So lame!

Hi Nestor,

We’re sorry you feel this way, but we do want to clarify.

Ferns are shipped as bareroot dormant roots, which is why you received them in baggies. That is standard for this type of plant and allows them to establish properly once planted.

They will not look like potted plants or have foliage at arrival, and in many cases ferns will not show growth until the following season while they establish roots.

We do provide planting guidance, and if you need help, we’re happy to walk you through it.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and reviews like this do impact small businesses like ours. We do not send “bad product”—we send dormant plant material as described.

If you’d like instructions or help getting them established, please email help@tnnursery.net.

Thank you. 🌱

I ordered 20 trees in November 2025 and I planted them immediately. I have watered them regularly. Now that it is spring, I am waiting for them to green up, but only two of the 20 trees have greened up. The rest never came out of dormancy.

I contacted the company and they said they have a 24-hour policy after receiving a product to report it. I received basically leafless twigs, with faith that they would green up in the spring. How am I supposed to report leafless twigs within 24 hours? It is a bad policy and I am out $284.31.

I cannot recommend this company.

Hi,

We’re sorry you feel this way, but we do need to clarify a few important points.

Your trees were shipped in November 2025 during the proper dormant season, which is when bareroot trees are safely transplanted. It is completely normal for them to arrive as leafless dormant stock, and that does not indicate they are dead.

The purpose of the 24-hour arrival policy is not to report “leafless twigs,” but to verify that the plants are alive at delivery using standard methods like a light scratch test, which does not harm the tree. This allows us to confirm viability before planting and environmental factors come into play.

After planting, survival depends on soil conditions, drainage, watering, weather, and location, all of which are outside of our control. A tree not leafing out in spring does not necessarily mean it was dead at shipment—many species can be slow to break dormancy or fail due to transplant stress.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and we do not send dead plants. We follow standard horticultural practices and clearly state our policies so expectations are understood upfront.

We do appreciate your feedback and are glad at least some of your trees are doing well.

Thank you. 🌱

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback—we truly appreciate it!

We’re glad to hear most of your plants are doing well. Astilbes can sometimes be a bit slower to establish, and in many cases perennials may not come up until the following season as they focus on root development first.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and customers like you mean a lot to us.

Buyer beware

Dear TN Nursery,
Thank you for your response.
I am disappointed by your decision not to offer a replacement, store credit, or any other remedy. As a first-time customer, I purchased these bare-root aquatic plants with the expectation that they would be viable and capable of growing under the recommended conditions.
When the plants failed to sprout, I promptly contacted your company and followed the guidance provided. I planted them in pond soil, kept them submerged, ensured they received full sun, and waited the additional weeks your staff recommended. After reviewing the situation, your own representative acknowledged that it is now unlikely the plants will emerge.
Given that the plants never sprouted despite following your instructions and allowing the additional time you requested, I believe a replacement or store credit would be a reasonable and customer-focused resolution. Instead, I am being left with a complete loss on a product that failed to perform as represented.
Unfortunately, this experience has left me with a negative impression of your company's customer service. As it stands, I would not feel comfortable recommending TN Nursery to others based on how this matter has been handled.
If there is any opportunity to reconsider your decision and provide a replacement or store credit, I would welcome the chance to resolve this matter on better terms.

Hi,

Thank you for your message—we do appreciate you taking the time to explain your situation.

We understand your frustration, and we do not take that lightly. However, we do need to clarify that the plants were shipped in a dormant state, and at the time of delivery were viable, which is why we provide a 24-hour arrival window to verify condition.

You did follow up after planting, and we provided guidance based on standard horticultural practices. As time passes after planting, outcomes are influenced by water conditions, temperature, sunlight, and environment, which are outside of our control.

While we understand your expectation, we cannot guarantee growth beyond the initial arrival condition without a warranty in place. This is why our policy is structured the way it is, and it is agreed to at checkout.

That said, we are a family-owned and operated nursery, and we do care about our customers’ experience. While we are unable to provide a replacement or refund in this case, we do appreciate your feedback and will take it into consideration moving forward.

Thank you. 🌱

Hi,

We’re sorry you feel this way, but we do want to clarify.

Our plants are shipped bareroot and dormant, which means they can appear lifeless at first, but that does not mean they are dead. A simple check at arrival (such as firmness or a light scratch test) confirms viability.

Our 24-hour arrival policy is clearly stated and agreed to at checkout so we can verify plant condition at the time of delivery. After planting and time has passed, it becomes impossible to determine whether issues were present at arrival or due to environmental factors like soil, moisture, or weather.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and we do not send dead plants or mislead customers. We follow standard industry practices and stand behind what we ship.

If you’d like us to review your order, please email help@tnnursery.net.

Hi,

We’re sorry to hear this, but we do want to clarify.

We do not sell seeds. Our lily plants are shipped bareroot and dormant, not as actively growing plants. It’s very common for them to not show visible growth right away, and in many cases they will come up the following season after establishing roots.

Not seeing immediate sprouting does not mean they are dead—this is normal behavior for many perennial plants.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and we do not send non-viable plants. Reviews like this do impact small businesses like ours, especially when based on expectations that don’t match how these plants grow.

If you’d like help checking them or improving results, please email help@tnnursery.net.

Absolute ripoff-DEAD PLANTS

Absolute ripoff. TN nursery is stealing your money and sending you dead plants. I spent over $100 on ferns last fall, planted as instructed but not a single fern has come up. They will only refund your money if you pay extra for a guarantee, otherwise they send dead plants with a note stating in all capsthat they may look dead but THEY ARE NOT DEAD. Well, THEY ABSOLUTELY ARE DEAD. They offer only a 24 hour guarantee. On bare roots? That's ludicrous. They are running a perfect scam - literally mailing out boxes of twigs and dirt.

Hi,

We’re sorry you feel this way, but we do need to clarify a few important facts.

Ferns are perennials shipped bareroot and dormant, and in most cases they will not come up until the following spring. In fact, it is very common for 90%+ of perennials to show little to no top growth the first season while they establish roots underground.

What you’re describing as “twigs and dirt” is actually standard dormant root material, not dead plants. If a plant is truly dead, it will be mushy or rotten, not firm and intact.

Our 24-hour arrival guarantee is in place so customers can verify plant condition at delivery. After planting and months of environmental exposure, it is not possible to determine original condition, as soil, moisture, and weather all play a role.

We are a family-owned and operated nursery, and we do not send dead plants or run scams. We follow standard horticultural practices and are transparent about what customers receive.

If you’d like help understanding what to expect or want us to review your order, please email help@tnnursery.net.
