Bleach
Bleach, 20 Vol developer and the lifting toners are the best I have used and have not damaged my hair. I love ugly duckling! My hair is platinum and is white when I first do a bleach/tone session.

Dear Kimberly, I am extremely sorry to hear that. Our bleaches, especially our blue based beaches do have a strong lift component, That said, I am surprised that you fried it just using 20 Vol. I also notice that you bought just one sachet, so I am really really surprised that just one sachet could fry your hair? Had the hair previously been bleached? In such cases (indeed in all cases) we do recommend a strand test before doing a full head bleach. That always shows you what the bleach is going to do on your hair and gives. Once again, I am very sorry for your experience & I hope we can pleasantly surprise you the next time!

I'm not a hairstylist
I'm not a hairstylist, just an average woman stranded by COVID without professional help. I love that Ugly Duckling products are designed exclusively to help blondes eliminate brassiness. It's a specialty line that's long overdue in my opinion. I've already emailed the company so many times since the pandemic began, sending photos of my hair and asking for advice, which they've always given me. The on-line tutorials are explained in a way that means even non-professionals can follow and get good results. I love that each tube of hair colour is generous enough to cover my entire head of thick, medium length hair. My only complaint is that I live in Canada and the shipping cost from California to my mailbox is almost $40 per delivery, whether I buy one tube of colour or ten. In other words, I wish that Ugly Duckling products were available where I live -- maybe one day. I have yet to find the perfect colour to eliminate my brassiness without first bleaching my hair to a level 10 blonde and making many experimental purchases has been expensive but I'll keep trying. Thank you for this fantastic product line!

Thank you for your kind words. Just to explain our policies on international shipping...we used to use US POST to ship not just to Canada but to many countries in Europe and elsewhere. It was very reasonably priced and it allowed Ugly Duckling consumers to purchase just one or two tubes and not pay too much to get it shipped to where they live..
Unfortunately, ever since COVID these postal services have not been working that reliably. They do work, but very often they deliver really really late. When that happened we as the company had no option but to reimburse the consumer. Which became prohibitively expensive for us.
So we have now moved to Fedex for international shipments, which is really expensive we know. But at least it is reliable, COVID or no COVID.
For our European consumers, we will be launching local sales from later this year. At which point shipping fees will go down for UK, EU, Swiss customers.
Unfortunately not for Canadians. I am so very sorry for this. We will keep looking at our ship options and try and improve where we can.

The website is user friendly. Th shipments arrive in a timely manner. The products are of good quality. What I found helpful, is that they kept a list of item that I ordered last, so if I wanted I can place a reorder of the same items. I would defiantly recommend Ugly Duckling to friends and family.
