bad experience
i’ve been going here for years and i always recommend it to family and friends cos it’s good prices and friendly staff plus there do nhs discount.
This time round i was only going for a look and as soon as i walked in the door a guy was on us and wouldn’t stop talking, my head was buzzing been the time i came out. also i had been told that my new kitchen floor would be fitted on the thursday but no one turned up until the friday but nobody rang to tell me otherwise

What an ABSOLUTE JOKE OF A COMPANY!
Are you serious?
YOUR COMPANY provided the grippers and the underlay as part of my order.
Alan your fitter laid the grippers, carpet and underlay so I suggest you take this up with him instead of trying to blame a customer for your rubbish service and fitting “skills”
If they were the wrong size or fitted wrong that that was on you!!
I have photos to prove it was bare floorboards when he arrived and all these items were on my order!
You have clearly not checked the order before writing your halfhearted reply either which clearly states you were providing them!
Your reply just reinforces what a shambles of a company you are.
You have not taken on any responsibility for your inadequacy as a company and would prefer to blame your customer!
Anyone reading this please take note and do not waste your time or money on this joke of a company!
The grippers that were fitted by the old man you sent the second time were exactly the same size as the ones you made me take up that were fitted the first time!

I purchased a carpet and underlay from the Hull store at the beginning of May.
After waiting for the carpet to come into stock whilst I finished decorating my hallway I was looking forward to getting it all completed.
I paid £80 for the fitting of the carpet, to a fitter that the shop deployed.
It is an extremely small house with a very basic staircase and a small landing and entrance.
After he’d left I hoovered the carpet to find it was all coming away from the stairs. It had not been fitted correctly. It had been left very loose and had several ripples in it.
All the grippers were able to be felt through the carpet and the carpet itself had flaws in places.
This wasn’t an expensive carpet but it wasn’t a second either so should not have been imperfect like this.
I called the shop straight away and they sent the same fitter back again 20 minutes later.
He just tucked the carpet back in again and left.
He had a bad attitude and blamed me for pulling it up!
Why I would do that when I’d been waiting so long to have it fitted and just paid him £80 in cash to fit it is beyond me!
I called the shop back again to complain and eventually spoke to the manager the next day.
He is extremely patronising and spoke over the top of me. I had to lose my patience with him and raise my voice to be heard.
He was initially going to come out and have a look at it himself but then decided to send a new fitter with a new carpet to do it again a week later.
I was made to take up the old carpet and grippers which I don’t think I should have had to do.
It wasn’t my job when they hadn’t done the job properly in the first place.
The second fitter they sent looked too old to be working.
He took all of 45 minutes to do the job,
it was rushed and done badly.
He was staple happy and left big delves in the carpet which were very visible and even stapled the carpet to the skirting board.
I’ve since had to get someone else out to put it right as it was done very poorly again.
(This third person was NOT from their company)
I wouldn’t recommend this company at all.
Absolutely terrible experience, the manager has a bad attitude and both the fitters they sent were rubbish.
It’s now been fitted properly and is how it should be.
Please avoid this company like the plague!
Save your time and patience and go elsewhere.
(Or at least employ your own fitter!)

I am very sorry to hear that you were unhappy with the service you received. Customer service and ensuring every customer has a great experience is really important to us.
After speaking to the store, I would like to take the opportunity to clarify a couple of the details of your order and the steps that were taken to rectify the issue.
Your initial purchased was of a carpet to be fitted using the existing grippers and underlay you had in place. This was completed and you were unhappy with the fit around the edges of the stairs. The fitter returned to your property within 1 hour of your call and re-secured the carpets, however he did note that the existing grippers were cut a little short to the edge of the stairs.
When you next called the store, the manager replaced the whole carpet free of charge and replaced the grippers (which were not a part of your order) also without charge.
We then sent a different independent fitter with over 40 years experience to fit the second carpet, again with no charge to yourself.
At this point the second fitter asked you to take a look and confirm that you were happy with the result, which you did.
We would always encourage any customers to get in touch with us on the rare occasion that there are any issues with their purchases. As there was no further contact from yourself after confirming that you were satisfied to the fitter, we we’re disappointed to hear that you were unhappy with the result.
Customer service is very important to us and whilst we hoped that the steps taken above would go some way to alleviate any upset caused by the initial problem, if there is anything further you wish to discuss with our team please feel free to contact us on aftersales@unitedcarpets.net.

It was easy to come into the store and order my carpet , was ok with sending a picture of the dimensions and they worked out how much carpet I would need . Went in to pay and arrange fitting. Fitter came and brought the wrong size carpet. He said he could come back the next day which he did . When I got home from work there were lots of left over bits of carpet and an empty cardboard box for me to dispose of. He told me he had ran out of gripper so had to use glue . So not so stress free but the carpet looks and feels great .
