only 1 Fitter
First impressions of United Carpets were good with a helpful salesman, good prices and unlimited supply of samples, we decided to have United supply and fit carpets to halls,stairs and landing in 2 entrances to our flats. The salesman (Craig) called to measure up, advise us on how long the job would take (2days for 2 men) and what preparisation was needed. He then booked an installation date and sent a fitter to do a detailed plan and give further advice.
2 Weeks before the installation we asked for the fitter to call to make sure we had everything ready and was told that a different fitter would be doing the job who failed to call round. After a further call by us the new fitter rang to apologise that he couldn't make the second appointment and eventually came at 9.00 on the day we expected the installation to start. He promised he would cut the carpet and return at 10.00. He finally returned at 11.30 dropped off the carpet for half the job and left his father to fit the carpet on his own. He returned at 15.15 picked up his father and went on to another job.This was repeated on the second day when he apologised that the job would last 3 days instead of the 2 we had been promised again only his father worked from 10.30 to 15.30 expaining that he had a hospital appointment that afternoon. This was repeated on the 3rd day (Friday) when his father explained he would be back at around 10.30 on the Monday as he had another hospital appointement. On the Monday no-one appeared and after ringing the fitter he finally arrived at Lunchtime and worked for about 2 hours. The next day again the fitters father arrived at 10.00 (looking very unwell) and worked alone until 13.00 when the fitter arrived and helped to finish the job. In all the job took 5 days instead of the 2 we were told because the fitters father (who we felt was not fit enough to do the job alone) was left to work on his own as the fitter was trying to complete other jobs at the same time as ours . The fitter also left all the offcuts and we had to clean up after them every day. The father returned 2 days later to complete snags which we found.
All in all we were very disapointed, although the fitters father worked hard and in general completed a good job, that the job lasted with the snagging 6 days instead of the 2 promised and after telling us all the rubbish etc would be removed we had to dispose of it ourselves as well as cleaning up every day, we feel that after us giving such a large job to United they failed to supply a competent fitting team and gave no follow up as to how the job was completed.

Great service.....again.
Went into United tonight as we had previously used the same store in the past and the service/fitting and quality of carpet was spot on.
Met Craig who was absolutely spot on and we told him our situation and budget.
At no time did he push us into more expensive carpets or products and with his help had ordered three bedroom and one stair carpet in no time.
Love Craig's attitude and could have a bit of banter with him which goes a long way
Even managed to get a bit of discount!
Would definitely go back again in the future.

We went in the Boothferry Rd store in Hull and were approached by the sales guy Ray, we explained what type of carpet we were looking for as we have cats, what underlay we wanted and the colour scheme we were looking at, he pointed us in a certain direction. He left us to look around ourselves and once we had decided we asked him for advice. He was really friendly and approachable and not once did we feel pressured by him. He explained fitting times etc and we were happy that United carpets had a pay now fit later scheme as our decorating hadn't been finished at the time. (inv no 87440)
