Brilliant company. Extremely helpful

I joined this union not too long ago really. My branch being in Sheffield . Chris Rawlinson was there for me with the issues I was having. It was such a relief to have someone there to give me the right advice and to speak up on my behalf in a situation where I needed that . I totally trusted him to guide me and yes he gave me so much support and pointed me in the right direction at the right stages .
I definitely recommend and advise anyone to join this union to have that support and advice to as you never know when Youl need it . I am now happy again . Special thank you to Chris and the team behind the scenes on my case.

Unhelpful union

Ugh, I wish I could give zero stars. This useless union? Three years of them, and twice I needed help, got nothing. Asked for advice, they said it was my problem. Referred me to some Mark Dunn guy, supposed to help with a grievance. He called once, said he couldn't help, wouldn't meet. Sent him everything, still nothing.I wish I can get a refund for all the money I paid. If you are looking to join this useless and unhelpful union, I would say STAY WELL AWAY!

To anyone thinking of joining Unite the…

To anyone thinking of joining Unite the union don't bother. They take your money for absolutely nothing. Twice my rep has taken annual leave in the middle of my case without informing me or arranging cover. He is now taking a new position in London without arranging a new rep, without informing me, the only reason I have found this out is because I have been waiting for a response to a message asking for date's my useless company needs. He decided to answer on a Saturday one week later with the above information. I don't think I would even know what he is upto if I had not sent him the message. First thing Monday morning I contacted the office to put in my complaint they were not the slightest bit interested even when I pointed out all their mistakes, I was told they should have done differently but never mind.
They are an out in the open SCAM.

No point to this union

I joined Unite with the expectation of them having my back when I needed them. As it turned out they were completely useless. Their very being undermines the concept and need of a union to represent workers. They are the equivalent of a doctor telling their patients to take an aspirin and go away. I had an issue with an incompetent bullying employer. When I approached Unite East Midlands for help it was a case of simply "take some time off to sort yourself out". No help. No advice. No backup. Not United.

Thankfully I am not a member of Unite…

Thankfully I am not a member of Unite but I just want to share my daughters story with you all so you don't make the same mistake and join this horrible corrupt organisation. We made our daughter join Unite a couple of years ago as myself and my husband had been long standing members for many years whilst working. After our daughter suffered common assault, bullying and harassment by a man in her workplace we thought Unite would stand up for her and protect her. How wrong we were! Instead we endured 6 months of the most unprofessional dishonest organisation we have ever dealt with. To the degree that even when their calls have been independently minuted and recorded they still have the audacity to lie, even in writing. We had the misfortune of having to deal with 2 different Regional Officers who clearly struggled to cope with anyone who had half a brain and was 1 step ahead of them. For an organisation not to protect, support and get justice for a vulnerable woman who had no choice but to resign from a job is a total disgrace. We paid and had everything checked by an independent employment law solicitor to find that Unite's RLO and Thompsons Solicitors had given us incorrect information. If you challenge or ask for clarity on anything, forget it, they turn into politicians! Our experience is beyond shocking and we wish we had read the Unite reviews before becoming members. Unite are only interested in militant stike action and are absolutely not there for the everyday person who has a genuine case. You should be ashamed of yourselves. It's no surprise Unite no longer respond to any reviews. Maybe Sharon Graham General Secretary should be reading these reviews and if she had any respect for her members and their experiences she should be contacting members personally. There's no point raising a members complaint as they all stick together and cover up each other's dishonesty and errors, we've experienced that as well. I actually don't know how you live with yourselves. Maybe you would feel differently if it was your daughter or family member. Do not waste your money joining it would have cost us less employing our own legal team. We cancelled our memberships and we've had more phone calls from Unite in the last week regarding our direct debit payments than we did during the 6 month grievance process 🤣 🤣 quality.

Poor excuse for a union

I have never known such a poorly run union.

I was a member of unite for years. Even when I was out of work I kept my membership and paid a smaller amount.

I came across a problem at work at contacted unite for help. The message was passed onto a rep who looked at my LinkedIn profile and the didn’t bother to contact me (perhaps she didn’t like the look of me) after a month of emails and telephone calls being ignored I made a complaint. Only then did my rep contacted me. They promised to email my work place.

Weeks later no email was sent and I still hadn’t heard from my rep. Once again I had to make a complaint. As my issue work was still ongoing and I needed someone advice.

Eventually my rep gets back in touch with my work place and gives them a deadline. My work place doesn’t get back, so I expect my rep to follow up. She does not. By this point it’s been over 3 months since I contacted unite and the situation has become worse to the lack of support I’ve got.
I once again make a complaint and say im leaving unite.

Such poor and disappointing service. First of all why are you checking people on LinkedIn but not reaching out. Feels discriminatory. You’ll check what someone looks like before you decided to help. Secondly, why didn’t my rep do there job to support me. Instead of only getting in contact when I made a complaint.

I’ve been around unions all my life growing up and I’ve never known a union to behave like this.

Unite talk about supporting workers, but in reality you do the opposite. You are quick the accept the monthly payments though.

Would never recommend. Empty promises one after another.

Honestly where do I start I joined because I wanted safety and security at work, my physical health took a turn for the worst I was expecting meetings and a hearing in regards to those as it was my first one I had no clue what to expect.

My rep did not even bother to brief me on what it would be about or how to approach the hearing I went in there looking silly without any answers but was told not to worry and keep paying my membership we would get it appealed.

7 months later after numerous times of asking for an update and being ignored by my rep and given empty promises she would chase it up. alas that never came to be until I decided to ring them myself for an update.

I was told I would not even be able to appeal and that it had gone past the deadline to do that and they failed to ever notify me because lets be honest they only want your money and as soon as I found out I cancelled the membership. Hundreds of pounds paid to these guys for no help or support, do yourself a favour and save the money for someone who actually knows what they are doing and have interest in protecting you. did they refund my membership you may ask? No they did not.

Shocking service

Joined Unite the union because I thought this would be a large reputable union, turns out that after numerous phone calls over a 14 days period, all I get for my money is a receptionist who tells me she will pass on the message and not on single call from the rep, so f you are looking for a union I would 100% not recommend this company and look elsewhere as this just seems to be a scam.

Terrible buisness practices

Terrible buisness practices, they promised me a spot on there website at a reduced rate to help me get stated with it and a promise from.thier salesperson that I would be up on their website I a couple of weeks, fast forward 3 moths and I haven't had one customer visit due to their website and they phoned me saying the full deposit has to be paid first. No matter what their salesperson has promised.

Another corporation trying to take money from the small guy! Watch out for these cowboys!

Waste of time, don't bother ever entertaining them. Complete waste of blood and organs

Too slow to defend you and not sure who's side they are on

When an employer goes for you they move fast. Unite and the reps just seem to disappear. I was being constructively dismissed. Airbus put myself and my family through absolute hell. The only consolation is I made my mind up that I didn't want to work for Airbus anymore and landed a better job before they could process my termination. I phoned the Unite rep afterwards and received the response as a growl "You'll be alright..." which confirmed my worst suspicion that I was being played and the union reps were not on my side really at all. I am glad to be rid of Airbus bullies and put this in the past because despite the wonderful public facade they present, they are morally repugnant and an awful employer, working with Unite to be rid of anyone they decide they don't like. The coordination is impressive if not disturbing.
