Find An Emergency Vet
Pet Care Advice
Customer Hub
Pet emergencies can happen at any time – including when your regular vet is closed.
That’s why our nationwide network of out-of-hours pet emergency clinics are open through the night, at weekends and on bank holidays, so we’re ready and waiting to provide expert pet emergency care when your regular vet is having some time off.
Our pet emergency clinics are the pet equivalent of A&E and our purpose is to give you and your pet the care and support you deserve, at the time you need it most, whether it’s four in the morning or in the middle of Sunday lunch.
Vets Now provides this trusted service to more than 1000 veterinary practices across the UK — from over 60 dedicated out-of-hours clinics and two 24/7 pet emergency hospitals. In total, we treat around 200,000 small animals every year — our highly-skilled team works hard throughout the night, weekends and Bank Holidays. So whether you’re in Aberdeen, Belfast or Portsmouth we’re there for you and your pet when you need us most.
We’ve also pioneered other ways to help pets, pet owners and the veterinary profession, such as our comprehensive referrals service and providing our staff with industry-leading training and development opportunities. We also support the pet blood transfusion charity, Pet Blood Bank UK. Meanwhile, our two hospitals — in Glasgow and Manchester — are home to some of the UK’s leading specialists in the field of emergency and critical care and provide care 24 hours a day, seven days a week.

I found that the staff were more concerned about weather I could afford the fee,s and not weather the pet was suffering. The hand over to the vets practice that they were using was not the best and as the pet was being removed and I did not want to register the treatment was not what I would have expected. It was a costly experience and some of the cost.might have seemed high but over all it was explained with the fact that it was out of hours. Notwithstanding the above my pet was treated by her new owners vet for a 10th of the cost I was charged. However I was satisfied that the vets tried there best for my pet.

Wow, what an amazing team at Vets Now Middlesbrough. We had the unfortunate event of requiring the services of the out of hours veterinary team and can honestly say that they were amazing! I’m so sorry that I didn’t get your names but we can’t thank you enough for the care that you gave our girl yesterday evening. You truly went above and beyond. The outcome could have been very different and we will be forever grateful 🙏

From my initial call to leaving the staff were lovely. Hanna the vet was great she explained everything they were doing or going to do from examination to tests and treatment, to us, and was great with our cat to make it less stressful for her. She also gave use help and advice when it came to giving the medication to reduce stress for both us and our cat.

Took my 21 year old dog as an emergency to be euthanised as he suddenly decided one night that he could no longer get up (despite being able to the day before). The staff were lovely enough. But the prices were an absolute joke. £60 for euthanasia in a normal vet practice. Almost £600 at the emergency vet. Two charges added: ‘out of hours surgeon consultation’, of which we did not have one, and another that I can’t remember through the grief. They took him away for 20 minutes and brought his paws back covered in blood - no explanation given when asked. Once it was done, they came in twice to ask if I was ready to leave (in the space of 5 minutes). They didn’t even give us a separate room to say goodbye, only the waiting room as I held him as he left this world.
3 years on and I am still utterly disgusted in the advantage that was taken of my dog, and the way I was treated.
If you want to say goodbye to your dog of 21 years, do him better than I did and DO NOT take your dog here. It is a business, and make plenty of profit off grieving, scared owners. Don’t listen when they tell you that ‘out of hours’ incurs costs to reflect it when half the charges are more than tripled, and some treatments of which you’re charged for do not even happen.

Lovely service from start to finish. Unfortunately, the shear cost of removing a thorn was ridiculously expensive. I understand that we are paying for professional services and out of hours. But on a Saturday afternoon (3pm) is shocking to say that is out of hours.

Excellent advice from Lara over the phone. Her follow- up email report was also very useful for recording what we discussed and what she advised.

I'm sorry but I can't remember the vets name but she was fantastic and really put my mind at ease. My husky Onyx was in a lot of pain and was very unstable on his legs (I had even mentally prepared myself to say goodbye. Thankfully that was not the case). She listened to my concerns and when I insisted that Onyx was muzzled before being examined (he doesn't bite normally because of his pain he was trying to bite). After being examined and the cause of his pain was found the vet gave Onyx a pain killing injection and some extra pain killers for use over the next few days. I'm really thankful for what she did for Onyx and even though it was an emergency appointment I would not hesitate to use them again xxx

My dog was seriously ill late at night therefor needed to be seen by a Vet immediately. The staff were empathic, took time to explain the serious life threatening nature of his illness and treatment option's to reverse the prognosis.
Early the following morning I received a phone call to share information and discuss options for a positive outcome, (all of which reduced my anxiety before driving 7 miles to the Clinic through rush hour traffic). On arrival Vets Now had arranged for transfer to a Referral Centre for ITU Care.
I believe without Vets Now prompt care, professionalism, advice, and assistance I would be writing a very different review.
