I had an okay experience with Victorian Fireplace Store. They have knowledgeable staff and a nice selection of antique fireplaces. The service can be great, as others have mentioned, but my experience... See more

Great look, terrible design
Really happy with the hood as such but theres no instructions and a very limited means to attach it. I had risk drilling into the cast iron, and had to used cement. My advice would be a better design, such as holes with black screws. Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend this product based on the hassle to attach it.
Superb choice of fireplaces
Superb choice of fireplaces, tiles and accessories, efficient service and quick dispatch. Highly recommended.

It’s now 17 days since we placed an order which included a delivery fee to ensure receipt of goods within 5-6 working days. Despite numerous calls and conversations, no one ever calls back or updates us with what’s happened. We chose this company based on previous reviews in spite of them being more expensive- obviously a mistake . Really disappointed . Do not deal with Claire if you can help it - she is extremely arrogant, unprofessional and rude. Avoid this company at all costs - they hold your money even though they can't complete your order.
Nice tiles but damaged and dirty
Nice tiles but more badly damaged than described in the advert and they arrived absolutely filthy, thick with dirt and dust as if they had come straight out of a skip or building site. I do not understand how they could have been "restored by our expert team" as the description said.
Supply and installation of a period fire surround - a job well done.
In February 2017, my wife and I became the owners of a listed lodge house (c1867) in the scenic Scottish Borders. Sadly, as is all too often the case, a less than sympathetic previous owner had seen fit to remove the original living room fireplace leaving only a soulless open recess and an inefficient and indecorously ornate kerosene-burner. So, it was with a view to putting feature and function back into the room simultaneously that the appalling kerosene-burner was replaced with an efficient Charnwood wood-burning stove and to complement it, we purchased a beautiful reclaimed slate fire surround from Victorian Fireplace Store in Stockport. We struggled to find a local fireplace installer that inspired confidence however and so we contacted Danny of VFS on the off-chance that he might consider travelling to the south of Scotland from Stockport. Much to our surprise and delight, Danny agreed and the rest is now history. Danny and his colleague Dave did a superb job – friendly, good humoured and meticulous to the finest detail, the guys worked quickly and with consummate professionalism throughout. They made some delicate on-the-spot alterations to the fire surround itself to ensure a millimetre-perfect fit and dexterously trued up an area of the surrounding plaster-work that was not running flush to the rest of the wall. The end result is everything we’d hoped for and a big step towards the restoration of a room that, over the preceding 150 years, had been so inappropriately stripped of some of its fabulous period architectural features. Suffice to say, we’re more than impressed with Danny and Dave and without so much as a moment’s hesitation, would recommend their services to anyone who’s looking to have the job done properly.

Sent wrong tiles and didn't have time to swop due to fireplace being fitted. They were still beautiful but not what I ordered.
2nd choice fireplace
The original fireplace we chose wasn’t available but we picked an alternative and it is beautiful. We are very pleased with the fireplace. Because of the first choice not being available there was some delay in it arriving- hence loss of star.

Tiles ordered 08.05.2019 as no delivery…
Tiles ordered 08.05.2019 as no delivery information rec'd I emailed 10.05.2019 no reply. I telephoned 13.05.2019 and after some confusion was told they had been sent. Goods finally came 17.05.2019. Two of the tiles were chipped because of poor packaging but managed to hide the chips when laying.
