At the beginning of 2020 I started to use WestStein to receive payments from my freelancer job. I was reading the reviews here and I was wondering why people say WestStein is a scam and they got their account frozen. But last week when I got my account suspended!
Without any notice, without any notification and without any explanation. I went to grocery store to buy some food when my card was declined that because WestSteincard suspended it.
I contacted them but they refused to give me any information and they told me to ask my senders to recall their payment from their banks! They already knew that the recall costs a lot of money and sometimes it's equal or more to the sent amount but they only have this answer.
The amount frozen is almost €500 and they will never let me get it.
My freelancer job is 100% legal and I'll try to get a free legal assistance but if I needed a paid one of course I would chose to loose the €500 because the paid assistance will cost me a lot.
What pissed me of is not losing the money. But the way they replied. I noticed the same reply to some bad reviews here. So they are prepared well to freeze people accounts and take their money and they don't give information (this was their replied to me: The issuer of WestStein prepaid Mastercard payment cards and provider of payment system - PFS Card Services Ireland Limited no longer is able to ensure access to Your remaining balance. Hereby we inform You that further information regarding Your account will not be disclosed to You. If you would like to access the funds on the balance, please contact the senders of the funds to recall directly from their sending bank account.

If the Complaints Team is unable to resolve your complaint and you wish to escalate your complaint further, please direct to the Irish Financial Services and Pensions Ombudsman at Lincoln House, Lincoln Place, Dublin2, D02 VH29.)

For everyone who gave WestStein full stars. Please don't be happy at the beginning and get yourself ready to loose your money :)

Piece of advice: withdraw the money frequently if you want to use the card. Otherwise you will cry for days for loosing your hard working days.
Piece of advice for WestStein: Please change the way you operate. You said before there is a new owner and you have changed a lot. But it seems that nothing changed and you just reply to people to save yourself. I'm not going to call you scammers like others because I had nice two years with you. But I would say that you are unprofessional and unreliable and I strongly don't recommend you to anyone.

The best card ever. I use weststein service for 3 years now and Never had any problem. I recommend.

Easy to open Weststein account. I received my Weststein card just before a vacation, so it worked great as travel money carrier, it is impossible to overspend with this card.

Satisfied after using WestStein account for~ 1year to receive salary. The app and customer portal is simple and esay to use, so I don’t spend much time managing my money.

after more than six months from the blocking of my current account containing 1000 € and after sending all the request they reply that the money in my account must be "recalled" by the person who invited them! non-existent and invented banking practice! THEY HOLD YOUR MONEY BECAUSE THEY ARE SCAMS BEWARE, DO NOT CHOOSE WESTSTEIN. I report their email: Dear Customer, Thank you for contacting WestStein. The issuer of WestStein Prepaid Mastercard Payment Cards and the Payment System Provider - PFS Card Services Ireland Limited are no longer able to guarantee access to your remaining balance and provide you with our services. We hereby inform you that further information relating to your account will not be disclosed to you. Your account is permanently suspended. If you would like to access the funds on your balance, please contact the senders of the funds to recall them directly from their sending bank account.

Proper Card that you can use as a backup savings for our Kids etc. I am now over 5 Years a Client with them and never had a single Issue. And to all the People who call it scam, you need to make sure your Money comes from a legal Source then nothing will be blocked. And Fees are normal and disclosed when you sign up with them.

Pros -
1. The fees is reasonable for a digital bank.
2. The website and app is easy to use and interface is well designed.
3. They support instant SEPA so the funds will be credited into your account almost instantly.
4. You can have multiple cards, and they provide both virtual cards and physical cards.
5. Customer support is friendly.
6. Application is easy, once you have submitted your documents, your account can be opened in few minutes.

Cons -
1. Some of the information on the website is outdated. For example, the limit for SEPA listed on their website is wrong, and the phone number for PFS (the card issuer of WestStein) is outdated.
2. Right now WestStein only offers email and live chat support, they don't have a telephone customer support service. However, their live chat is not monitored, so the only way to contact them is by email, which could take few days to get a reply. For a digital bank, I think it's crucial for them to have either a telephone or live chat support, or even social media support, so their customers can contact them instantly.
3. Communication problem. My card was blocked after some purchases, I think I might have triggered some security measure and it's normal for banks to block your card if they think something is out of ordinary, so I don't blame them. The problem is, they didn't inform me when my card is blocked, and though my card was unblocked after a couple of days, they didn't inform me the reason why my card is blocked. I think it's crucial for them to send their customers a text message or an email if they have blocked their customers' card.

Edit: My card was blocked after some purchases, but the problem was resolved within a reasonable timeframe. Overall I'm satisfied with WestStein's service, but I do believe they have things to improve if they want to be a top-notch digital bank, hence I have edited my rating to 4 stars.

They do really fun giveaways on social media, like you can get money on your card. Not often but nice.

27.10.2021 - As you can see more generic positive feedbacks from LV. Come on Weststein you can be more creative due to fact that all positive or 90 percent of them are more or less the same. And non of them are verified. Interested because you report every user that gives you negative to verify at Trustpilot.

27.10.2021 - Update on my case... it's been like two months since the last email from Weststein. All documents were sent several times and guess what. Nothing. PEOPLE STAY AWAY FROM THEM. Saga continues.
