I am writing in connection to our "New Kitchen" installation, which is still on going at day 13 having not been completed, being left in a dangerous manner having been told the subcontractor will not return until Saturday 8th June.
I have alot of issues in respect of the installation that l feel you need to know about, as these come under 'The Consumer Rights Act 2015', which states that it must be fit for purpose, as described & satisfactory quality.
Firstly l want to make you aware that l am registered disabled having Cerebral Palsy, which affects my daily lifestyle, & the stress the kitchen installation has caused has exacerbated my condition.
Having placed the order with Design Consultant at your Peterborough Store we were told the installation would take 7/8 days & would commence on Monday 22nd April. With having this information, my husband & l sold our fridge/freezer, table & chairs & freestanding oven in preparation for the work to commence. l was told 5 days prior to the commencement date that the subcontractor who was supposed to be working for yourselves had been released as his ability skills were zero.
The Peterborough Wickes store contacted us to say the first available date for installation would be Monday 20th May. Baring in mind all our appliances had been sold this made life extremely difficult.
Now to the new commencement date:
▪️Day 1, the kitchen was totally stripped by the subcontractor & his apprentice, they arrived an hour later than the time we were given & they left at 4pm.
▪️Day 2 we were told they would be here at 07.45am but they arrived at 9.15am, they screeded the floor & left at 10.15am. This could have been done on day 1 & left to set over night!!- surely!!
▪️Day 3, 4, 5 only the apprentice turned up, we had no notification from the subcontractor to say he would not be working on these days. The apprentice started laying the floor during days 4 & 5 & once he'd finished the flooring he then started making up the cupboards & units.
▪️Day 6, both the subcontractor & his apprentice worked all day & the subcontractor worked Day 7 & 8 to try & catch up.
▪️Day 9 /10 work continued to progress.
▪️Day 11 Tiling was started & upon looking at the work undertaken we noticed lots of faults which the subcontractor said he would rectify.
▪️Day 12 the electrician came & upgraded the fuse box according. The apprentice was again here on his own however the subcontractor did text me to say he would be here on Sunday.
▪️Day 13 both the subcontractor & apprentice came & said they hoped the kitchen would be finished by the end of the day. We wrote a snagging list of all the 24 faults that needed to be corrected.
▪️Live sockets hanging off the wall which is a Health & Safety issue, & is totally illegal
▪️No power from the wine cooler socket
▪️No power from a new socket on the wall behind my kitchen/hallway door
▪️We have been advised the LED light connection box is going to be hidden inside the extractor fan, is this correct?
▪️The wine cooler needs levelling & the handle tightening
▪️ Extractor fan was damaged when box was opened. Apparently I'm being resourced a replacement.
▪️The join between 2 pieces of worktop is completely unacceptable
▪️There are 2 worktop corners that still need rounding off
▪️Worktop edging needs gluing
▪️The pipe work under the sink has been so badly plumbed, l can't see how the shelf will be fitted.
▪️Towel rail needs fitting
▪️Gaps between the door frames & tiles
Both myself & my husband are very upset over the whole kitchen, my husband had to take unpaid leave in order to be here for when the subcontractors came due to my disability, so not only have we had to suffer loss of earnings because of the length of time, we have also had to pay out for takeaway meals.
We came to Wickes in good faith & are totally disappointed with the workmanship.
Considering we were told the kitchen would take 7/8 days & they have now completed 13 days & still not finished & being left in a dangerous state.
The Design coordinator at Wickes Peterborough advised when the original date was cancelled at short notice that when the kitchen was completed we will be due compensation. We wish the inconvenience, stress & additional expenses incurred to be taken into account as well.
I wait your urgent response within 5 days or l shall be taking this matter further.

I visited the Stockton store with my parents (both in their 80's) who were looking for a new kitchen. We were greeted by Helen who advised she was there to help if we needed any assistance. There was no pressure selling we were allowed just to wander around without being followed and bombarded with questions and offers! She clearly advised on what was required and booked my parents an appointment with Mr David Staines the design consultant. David designed a beautiful kitchen and again was there to explain about the different appliances and guide them kindly and patiently through the whole process. He never rushed them and always made them feel comfortable to ask questions. The whole experience was a very positive one and I would like to thank Helen and David for going above and beyond.

Kitchen designed by dave staines, he was very quick and efficient. Order placed on Sunday and due for delivery today (tuesday)
Dave was happy to work around odd shapes and found solutions to all of these. Very happy

I popped on the off-chance to enquire about community support and Julie Randall was extremely helpful.
The store donated some tools and equipment for a school project to help children to improve their school pond and I left today with a car boot full of goodies.
Many thanks to Julie for her support!

We went to the Stockton wickes, to look at the Kitchens, the young lady Mollie we talked to who was very helpful and lovely young lady. She then asked Mr David Staines Design Consultant, to come to our home. He took all the details he needed, and Designed our beautiful Kitchen for us.
David Staines, is a very nice young mam and he is professional and knows his stuff, we felt really comfortable around him and he helped us alot to choose all we needed fit our kitchen.
We would definitely recommend anyone who is looking for a new kitchen, to go to Wickes.

Kitchen design and planning was carried out by David Staines at the Wickes Stockton store. David proved to be excellent on both counts and the whole installation went as planned, closely supervised by David and the Wickes customer services. Couldn't fault them or the installers and can unreservedly recommend David, his colleagues and the installers. Highly satisfied.

At all other retailers I have visited, there is a quick pick-up point for click and collect. NOT AT WICKS THOUGH! YOU HAVE TO JOIN THE HUGE QUEUE. Its A hot day and the store had there powerful over head heaters on right over the enormous checkout queue. A Dreadful experience. I WILL NEVER BUY FROM WICKS EVER AGAIN! DREADFUL CUSTOMER SERVICE!

Outstanding service at Wickes Stockton by David Staines in the kitchen department. Extremely knowledgeable, polite and has the customer at the centre of his service.

Went to wickes to see what their kitchen's were like, next thing I know is that we had arranged for David Stains from Stockton-on-tees Wickes to come around our house and basically design our new kitchen.
This was the best thing we did, honestly, and what a fantastic job he did, and to add, what a nice chap he is as well.
From start to finish he put this together and opened our eyes to the possibilities. He designed our new kitchen and then on 8th April 2024, just a few weeks later, they started ripping the old kitchen out.
(It was estimated that it would take three weeks to complete in total) Kevin from the wickes team (building contractor) in my view, he managed the whole job from start to finish, and he was also fantastic.
I hope you can tell, but we are very happy with the work that wickes did, from design to finish. The total time the job took was 2 weeks and 1 day, so this was under what was estimated.
There isn't any real negatives, but you do need to bear in mind that there was not painting or/and decorating as part of the job. So I Personally did the painting myself to finish the job off. This was fine in the end, but something that you also need to consider when paying ££s for your new kitchen.
So overall, 5 stars from us, from start to finished. Brilliant, thank you Wickes stockon. Julian and Amanda.

I have left my previous review below as until we signed off on the bathroom, it still stood regarding the sales, design and installation.
Since signing off, things have started to go wrong and no one at the Wickes customer service centre is interested.
The freestanding bath moves and is extremely dangerous. The taps broke within a week and the sink has a strange mark on it. The problem with the bath makes it unusable and we have been told by Wickes not to use it. However, no one is coming to fix it so is it just for decoration?
We've spoken to Karen, Gareth and another representative, whose name I didn't get, on multiple occasions. We are always promised a response then nothing comes.
This has gone on for over 6 weeks now and still no one will get back to us to help resolve the issues despite us making multiple calls and sending multiple emails.
I absolutely do not recommend Wickes and would say they are to be avoided at all costs. Sales and installation goes well, but once they've got your money, they are not interested in helping to solve any problems.
Previous review after initial installation:
Highly recommend for customer service and speed. Filled in an online form and got a call back within a few hours. Appointment made at Stockton on Tees store within a week to see Dave Staines. Dave was really helpful and nothing was too much trouble. He was very knowledgeable and helped us design our dream bathroom. I changed my mind loads of times and Dave was really supportive and flexible. The contractor we were assigned, JSA, was brilliant and again, nothing was too much trouble. Delivery was well organised and everything was communicated well. Got a dedicated person from a service centre that kept checking in throughout and helped us sort a minor issue with one of the products. Over the moon with the finished bathroom and from first enquiry to finished installation, the whole thing took less than 12 weeks.

i am a property developer .
a friend of mine said i should try wickes stockton on tees ,for a kitchen.
after meeting and speaking to leanne ryan who works on the kitchen department she had lots of time and patience to help me choose and design my new project !
i honestly couldn't of been any happier with leanne ryan . Especially after having a few minor issues with the kitchen .
i tried to contact wickes via the call centre and ended up on hold for 35 minutes , listening to awful music !!
that was absolute waste of my time .
i went into store and leanne resolved my problem in a matter of minutes !
thank you again leanne

We had an appointment with the kitchen designer last Sat at 4pm got there for them to say it was for 2pm, which is a lie as my wife doesn't finish work till 2pm and it's a 20mile drive over, also when he came out to measure up he also confirmed with me it was for 4pm Saturday. So for them to lie to me and also have an attitude about it and expect me to do another 40mile round trip another day because they had double booked I would never go back to wickes again. Also get your kitchen from wrens next door they'll beat any quote.

After choosing our kitchen at the Stockton branch, we were introduced to our kitchen designer David Staines.
He visited my home to plan our project.
He was totally comited and honest, using his vast knowledge of what would be fiesable to achive maximum space for us. He did not rush any of our decisions, and patiently changed aspects of our project. A pleasant, approchable friendly person, who went out his way to optimise our space. Many thanks.

We are planning in the future a new kitchen, once construction work has been carried out. We went to our local Wickes for ideas. Helen was brilliant! She understood fully what the purpose of our visit was. She showed to us and demonstrated innovative shelving options and cabinets that provided really practical storage options. Thanks Helen it was good to bounce ideas off you. We now have a firm idea of what we would like to achieve.

The time the designer (Ryan) took with me, nothing was a problem and answered all questions. The fact that Wickes do it all from start to finish is spot on and in and out in a week. Thankyou Ryan for your expert advice and patience!

David Staines at Wickes Stockton has designed our dream kitchen, excellent attention to detail, really knowledgeable about what would work best where in the design, and which materials to use. Very transparent, trustworthy, and I would highly recommend him.
