An absolute rip off do not use a £65 ride cost £95 pound as they said no people carriers available . So had to have 2 cars. 1car ok 2nd car a people carrier. Then they blamed it on me and said I was a lier I had not booked for 5 people even thou I had rang to check , and taxi drivers screen said 5. paid £95 for a £65 journey totally ripping people off . Lucky our drivers were up front and the people carrier said he had been available for over an hour…our honest drivers pulled up and put us in one taxi or it would of cost £130 for their mistake. Complained to management and got told I was a lier and spoken to like shit. Stay away from this company. The drivers were the only honest people I suggest they get a new job with a decent company. Obviously desperate for money they have to rip people off .

Been using this company as a loyal customer for years using a few times a week at least for hospital trips which I am very reliant on.They have become the absolute worst that I just can’t justify using them anymore. Had an extremely important vet appointment today. Pet taxi booked in advance which never turned up. Upon ringing was told couldn’t find one even though had pre booked. Unfortunately this is not unusual has gone so downhill that I’m using others instead. Avoid this company as they will let you down

Taxi was booked for 5.30pm for my elderly and disabled parents. They were in the taxi and it was moving at 5.34pm. Money left my account at the destination which was more than it should have been. They charged me for 14 minutes waiting time as the driver was there at 5.20pm!!! That’s not my problem. I booked 5.30pm, not 5.20pm. I sent them a message to query it and they have ignored me. Never use this taxi company!!!

Like some of the other reviews I also booked a taxi in advance at a set time. When a car eventually arrived it was 15 minutes late. I missed my train and my meeting. Don’t rely on them that’s all I can say. They used to be reliable, I fused them for years, but that’s enough for me. Rubbish.
Oh and the fare isn’t fixed.

If I could give a 0 I would. Like some of the other reviews booked a taxi in advance at a set time, at my time of pick up there was still no driver assigned. Was going to the train station and missed my train at the cost of £180. Absolutely rubbish

Fixed prices? well that's a lie. I booked one 2 months in advance for one to arrive 45 minutes late, the fare being tripled and the operator being rude and then hanging up and manager Kelly ignoring complaints. 4 weeks on when I ring I get told, someone will contact you about this today. Still 0 contact. Would rather walk in future.

Embarrassing how they cant even address the issues. Kelly needs firing.

Worst taxi service going. Pre booked for 7.30 pick up a few days before, what they don’t tell you is you’re not pre booking a driver. No driver was assigned to me by my pick up time, then no updates until 20 minutes later when a driver shows up and I’ve no option to cancel. Thanks for making me late for my own graduation mate.

Pre booked a taxi for 8:30AM
It got to 8:35 so I rang and apparently it was for 8:30PM. I repeated it twice for 8:30AM as I had an operation at the hospital which I’ve been waiting for six months. So I was late and had to pay near enough double for Uber.

Might wanna change this header on the website…

York Cars Taxis - Reliable and Professional Taxi Service in York

Appalling service on 13/06/2024. I had to call three times for a taxi and wait outside for 40 min. because two of the drivers just canceled the order with no reason. Never York Cars taxis services again!

Delayed by 15 minutes. Then took £2 because we cancelled. No reply to repeated emails about this.

I would quite happily have a day in court with them so if they read this, go ahead!
I am blind with a guide dog. I used the company for many years, every weekday to and from work. Since the company was bought by it's current owners, the customer service has been disgusting and reliability very poor.
I'll list my issues below but bare in mind that after reporting the company to the council taxi licencing team, the owner called me up and cancelled my account. I have complained many many times over a year and the owner never acknowledged my complaints and so never called back despite my requests. They claim I've claim I've never made a complaint.

On the day he suspended my account was the only time he has called me. Unfortunately The issues I've experienced include;
* Taxi drivers knowing I am blind, and despite me standing there with a guide dog, they have frequently made no effort to let me know they are there, or assist me with getting to and from the taxi. Sometimes after 20 minutes, I'd phone to see where the car is, I'd be told it's arrived, only for a memeberof the public to tell me it's across the other side of the road or car park.
* of Prebooked journeys, taxis are dispatched only for me to frequently receive a notification saying that they have my booking and that another taxi will be dispatched shortly. No explanation what happened to the one already on it's way.
* Calls now frequently going through to owners foreign relatives in another town (they own several companies around the UK). The people answering the calls struggle to speak or understand English, and cannot deal with issues as they arise.
* Most drivers are now coming from out of York and do not know where they are going. Some speak such little English that even Google Maps confuses them.
* Drivers have regularly had conversations on their phones throughout the journey, speaking in their native language, laughing and joking. Sometimes it was hard not to feel they were talking about me.
* Significant cultural differences meant that many drivers had issues with my guide dog. He is very well groomed and lays down on the floor with no issues. Some drivers frequently tried to insist we had to sit in the back where there was insufficient space or the runners for the front seat, would stick out and the dog would be sat on them or my ankle was painfully pressed against them.
The councihas previously revoked their licence but they have gained it back on technicalities. This says more about the incompetence of the council than it does the taxi firms innocence..
I have many more examples and would be happy to see others on here.

Bad drivers never again will I use.
Speeding, pulling out on large vehicles when they are dangerous close, running red lights

Accidentally left an item inside one of the taxis and York Cars won't reply to my emails or messages.
Obviously have got rid of my item and I won't be getting it back.

Will never use this company again.

I have been using this company snice 2020, and must have spent thousands ferrying my daughter between HOSM and York.

I had a taxi booked but didn't have enough money in my bank, as i had an unexpected bill come out the same day.

After pleading with the people on the phone to send the taxi and that I would pay on arrival (before the actual journey) they refused, stating I could cancel before they arrive wasting their time.

Whereas I understand this point, I feel that a company should value customers who have been loyal to the brand, spending thousands in the process. I asked them to check how many journeys I have placed from HOSM to york, including looking at how many times I have paid by cash.

The person on the phone, clearly unable to check or couldn't be bothered, claimed it was always pre-paid and all my journeys were within york. - which is flat out wrong / a lie. Regardless, if a long-term customer stranded in a village, with a long history of taking the same journey, exceptions should be made.

Do I think I'm special? No, not really. I think I was desperate and asked for a bit of compassion from a company i have spent thousands with, relating to a journey i have made a stupid amount of times.

All the drivers are nice and friendly, but the staff in the office don't have a braincell between them.

They also charge extra for pre-paid journeys and I have yet to see any of this money be paid back into my account, even though it literally states this when you pay.

Stay away at all costs.

I paid over £400 for a fare to Heathrow for my Dad. The driver kept falling asleep while taking him and had to pull over twice to wake up. He then took a 40 minute phone call in another language while driving. Totally unprofessional and worrying that drivers behave like this. I’ll never book again and would not recommend

A York taxi driver purposefully accelerated at me in his car. They have no care for people and should have their license revoked again like they did a few years ago. Would never use and have warned all friends and family. Reckless driving!!

Useless taxi firm! If I could give 0 stars I would. Taxis constantly late, when you call to find out how long they can't say, even on pre booked times. Never using them again! Joke of a taxi firm!!!

This taxi company was not very reliable and left my family stranded in a very cold night.
If I was a lawyer I would be straight to the court room with this company.

Have start ed using York cars and find them friendly and efficient and reliable

Arrogant man rang me when I booked through the app last night to tell me he wouldn’t take my booking because he assumed I was drunk and it ‘wasn’t far enough’ when in fact my friend can’t walk that far at the moment. Put the phone down on me while I was explaining this whilst muttering “f***ing idiot” usually a good service but not with this certain employee
