I removed the private license plate…

I removed the private license plate from my vehicle and was charged 95 pounds. That's outrageous.

Alongside any mid term fees from One Answer, you insurer also has the right to apply a charge when updating or amending policy details.

Very through and honest

Very through and honest worked hard to get me the best price for fully comp. Made sure the deal was done the same day and did not give up when I was trying to put together the deposit.
Couldn’t fault a thing about the whole process and the agent Chris was 1st class a credit to the company.

Headline: Misleading "Taxi Insurance" - Sold Private Hire when I need Public Hire. Charged £25 for THEIR mistake.

I had a very disappointing experience with 1 Answer Insurance. I contacted them to insure my VW Caddy (NK18BYN) as a Hackney Carriage (Public Hire) vehicle.

The advisor, Jake Nash, sent me an email clearly marketing "Taxi Insurance" and stating I would be covered for "taxi hire uses." Relying on this, I paid my money. However, after the payment went through, I received the certificate and discovered the policy was completely wrong for my business:

· Wrong Hire Class: It only covers Private Hire, not Public Hire. This means I cannot legally pick up fares from a rank, which is my main source of work.
· Hidden Conditions: They failed to mention a mandatory telematics app that must be activated while driving, nor did they explain a territorial restriction on where I can drive. These were only revealed in the documents after I paid.

When I tried to call them immediately to correct this error and get the policy I actually asked for, they did not answer my calls all day. They left me with no option but to cancel a policy that was unusable for my licence.

To make matters worse, because they issued the wrong policy type (Private vs Public), they charged me a £25 cancellation fee. I am being penalized for their administrative error and misleading sales pitch.

I have now had to refer this matter to the Financial Ombudsman Service to get my full refund back. I would advise other taxi drivers to be very careful and ensure you get everything in writing before you pay, and double-check that "Private Hire" isn't being falsely marketed as general "Taxi" insurance. Very poor service and unfair practices.

We would like to clarify that the £25 cancellation fee was applied in line with the policy terms and conditions, which were advised to you prior to inception and included within your insurance documentation.

Following a review of your inception calls, we can confirm that the hire type was discussed in detail and agreed before the policy was set up. In addition, the features and benefits of the telematics app were fully explained at that stage.

We also made efforts to source an alternative insurer for you, however, you chose to proceed elsewhere.

Great customer service from Scott.

I rang and spoke to a very friendly gent called Scott. He put me at ease and his experience was evident from the start. He talked me through my quote with optional add ons etc and did not come across as pushy at all. No hard sale. I was absolutley blown away with my quote. It was a third of what i was expecting with having a previous ban. Scott said i could call him at any time to discuss anything regarding my quote. Cannot speak highly enough about this company, especially Scott. He is a credit to them.
