At least D. Turpin wore a mask...
My 93 year old mother had a home visit from Hidden Hearing, Leigh-on-Sea earlier this year. We spoke on the phone to the person that visited & questioned as to if the £3000 hearing aids being sold were beneficial to our mum. Against our advice, our Mum went ahead with this purchase anyway. The hearing aids proved to be of no benefit to her at all. She could not put them in her ears herself and had no idea how to use them. They made no difference to her hearing either and they simply sat on a shelf for several months until she sadly passed away in December. It is only now since going through her belongings that we have noticed she was also sold the top tier of insurance too...at £115 per year! Our mum was vulnerable and we think Hidden Hearing mis-sold these hearing aids. The Oticon Intent 4 Minirite are vanity based, tiny and virtually invisible hearing aids. Hardly suitable for a housebound 93 year old that was almost totally blind. Dreadful that these were ever sold to her. By the way, you can buy these for half that price as well elsewhere...not that a person in our mothers situation would ever benefit from them anyway.
*UPDATE*
In response to a reply from Hidden Hearing, I would like to point out that we did indeed speak over the phone to the person that visited our mother. We questioned if our mother would be able to use the hearing aids recommended, but did NOT get a straight answer. We politely voiced concern that these hearing aids were not suitable, yet the purchase went ahead anyway. Still no explanation as to why vanity based almost invisible hearing aids were 'recommended' for someone in our mothers situation either. The insurance at £115 per year (conviniently not returnable & cannot be cancelled now either) is, lets say 'excessive'. Our mother was indeed vulnerable and did contact Hidden Hearing several times with issues, but was told each time that the hearing aids were working. They probably were, but she was not in a position to insert, charge or maintain them. This would have been obvious at the time of purchase. Not a surprise that Which? Magazine reports that 45% of customers of Hidden Hearing claim they felt pressured to buy at time of consultation. I am aware of the 60 day money back guarantee, but am also aware that it is something of a challenge for this guarantee to be honoured. My mother was asked if the aids improved her hearing. They did...when charged & fitted properly, which she simply could not do.
Complain? I certainly shall. It will not bring our mother back, but may just help others in a similar situation to avoid this company who put money & profit ahead of everything else.

A really friendly, professional and informative visit
I had a hearing test done by Jenny in the Leigh on Sea branch due to some tinnitus I’ve been experiencing. The staff there were so friendly and helpful, I had my young son with me and they made us feel very welcome and at ease. Jenny is very knowledgable and was very assuring, she helped keep my son entertained whilst I had the hearing test done. Highly recommend!

A Truly Caring Local Service That Made All the Difference
So glad to have found Hidden Hearing right on our doorstep. I couldn’t have received a more welcoming consultation with Jen, who truly understood what I’d been through and helped me find the best solution — which, quite frankly, blew me away with the results.
I also had micro-suction with Wendy, who was equally welcoming and made me feel completely at ease. I often have to wait months via the hospital when my ears become blocked, so it’s fantastic to have such a great local service I can pop into when needed.
Really glad I discovered you both.
