Worth It, with a Few Things to Note…
The car rental process went quite smoothly – I booked through the Ryanair app, choosing a Toyota Yaris for a week at a total cost of €297, which included basic insurance (around €50–60 for the week).
A few important things to be aware of:
✈️ Our flight arrived early (6 AM), but we had to wait until 8 AM for the rental kiosk to open. Keep this in mind if you’re arriving early.
🚶♂️ To reach the car pickup area, exit the airport, turn left, and walk about 500 meters.
One issue worth mentioning:
At the rental desk, the agent persistently tried to sell us an additional insurance for €40–60 per day, claiming that the insurance purchased through Ryanair wasn't valid or sufficient. It felt a bit like a scare tactic or upselling attempt. This created some concern about whether they'd try to charge us for any "damage" when returning the car.
Fortunately, nothing like that happened. The car was clean, in good condition, fuel-efficient, and performed well. We drove 1,450 km, used 58 liters of petrol, and spent only about €100 on fuel.
Returning the car:
Our return flight was also at 6 AM, and the rental office was closed. After calling the company the day before, they explained that we should leave the car in the same lot and drop the keys through the slot in the kiosk shutter. That worked smoothly.
Overall, I recommend the company, but they really should clarify the insurance options during booking via Ryanair to avoid unnecessary confusion or pressure at the counter.

You have to wait a bit for service after landing, but that shows the popularity of the company. It is financially attractive, the cars are well prepared and the staff is helpful. Maybe the company should prepare more customer service stations and it will be 11 points out of 10 possible 😁. Overall - very good.

The people were helpful no problems
The people were helpful no problems, I had my insurance arranged with the booking. Good car and also after bringing car back everything went smooth. Only I find they hold too long the deposit on your credit card.

The little car handled the road well. The staff was polite both at check-in and check-out. One note only: They didn't say the leather cover of the gearbox would come off, we noticed in the first minute, we were worried that there would be problems later when we return. Avoid this company
I do not recommend using this company. We had a terrible experience.
We paid for the car and insurance in full through the booking platform, but when we arrived, the staff refused to accept any of our credit cards — even though we had three different ones. The employee was rude and impolite, and told us we would need to pay an additional 300 euros for insurance because our credit cards did not display a name.
We offered to provide confirmation from our online banking to prove ownership, but she refused to accept it. The situation was extremely stressful and disappointing.
In the end, we had to rent a car from a different company because we didn’t want to pay extra due to their inability to process our cards. Avoid this company if you want a smooth experience.

This is a standard requirement in the car rental industry and is essential to validate the identity of the cardholder and authorize the security deposit.
In your case, unfortunately, none of the credit cards presented met this requirement, and without a credit card correctly linked to the main driver, we are not authorized to release the vehicle. While we understand your offer to show online banking details, we are required to follow specific procedures for security and insurance purposes, and cannot accept alternatives to this policy.
We’re sorry that this led to an unpleasant experience. This is not a matter of additional charges or refusal, but rather a compliance issue with the rental terms and conditions, which are shared and accepted at the time of booking.

Terrible rental experience
Terrible rental experience – I strongly advise against using Ecovia.
My rental with Ecovia started off smoothly, but it quickly became clear that they operate with highly questionable practices.
When picking up the car, I immediately noticed visible damage inside the vehicle. I politely asked the staff member to inspect it and update the contract accordingly. She refused, saying it wasn’t necessary and that I should “just take a video.” That was a clear red flag, but I followed her advice and filmed everything — thankfully.
At drop-off, things took a very different turn. The return agent carried out an extremely detailed inspection, pointing out two supposed damages:
One that was clearly already present at pick-up (and visible in my video),
Another minor plastic piece near the steering wheel that was so small, I hadn't even noticed it during the entire trip.
I refused to sign the return report, which falsely accused me of damage, and I submitted a written complaint before leaving.
The entire process felt like a set-up: a lazy and dismissive check-in followed by a forensic-level check-out designed to pin repair costs on unsuspecting renters. It seems like a strategy to charge customers for normal wear and tear or pre-existing issues.
These kinds of deceptive and unfair tactics are unacceptable and undermine all trust in the company. I am now preparing to report this incident to the European Consumer Centre and will dispute any unauthorized charges.
Think twice before renting from this company — there are many honest alternatives out there. Ecovia is not one of them.
