I rented a car to go to a winter resort in Italy. The car of course did not have winter tires. The person at the desk said the car has chains provided in the trunk. However, when I approached a place in the mountain that I had to use the chains, I realized that they were size 13, while the car tires were size 18. I had a total loss of time and a bad experience trying to reach where I was going to. I had to buy a pair of chains, barely making it to a gas station 50 km away. Autovia refused to take any responsibility about the small sized chains they provided and also refused to refund me for the pair of chains I had to buy. As an overall, very bad service and unreliable vehicles maintenance.

I recently rented a Citroën C3 for three days from this company at Milan Bergamo Airport, and I feel completely misled by their pricing and deposit policy.
At the time of rental, the employee at the counter clearly wrote down that €250 was a refundable deposit and €100 was the rental fee. However, after returning the car, I was only refunded €100 and later told that the €250 was actually the rental cost – something that was never properly explained to me on-site.
In good faith, I did not immediately verify the receipts, which was my mistake. However, charging €250 for a basic economy car for three days is outrageous compared to market prices in the area. This feels like a classic tourist trap, where unclear information leads to unexpected and unfair charges.
Despite reaching out to the company multiple times, they either ignored my concerns or provided unhelpful responses. I highly advise other travelers to double-check all charges, demand clear written breakdowns, and consider using a more transparent rental company.

very good and clean car, the report at the end was honest and the price was honestly unbeatable.

The car was new and trouble free, it was going up the hill very easily. I received a better car than what I have booked (automatic - hybrid instead of a manual one). The pick-up and drop-off process was clear. There was a bit of a queue for the pick-up, but this is expected, given the low price and big demand. I rented the car via Ryanair page, I purchased a full insurance from their site, no one was forcing me to buy an additional insurance at the time of pick-up, contrary to many other comments. Note: for the full insurance from Rentalcovers to be valid, the CDW must be included in the rental agreement. Overall, I had a very positive experience. I rented the car from Bergamo airport.

It's a Great service, if you ever go to Milan an your airport it's Bérgamo definitely you should rent a car in Autovía, ask for Nicoletta she is the best she speaks many languages and she will assist you in the best way, the car are in a great condition.
Fast and Easy. Good quality, clean. Helpful staff, upgraded to fuelsaving automatic hybrid Toyota. Thanks for that
When I went to pick up the car I had rented, despite having already paid for full insurance through Expedia, they offered me another “full insurance” for €144, saying that if I didn’t take it, I could be charged at least €500 for any minor scratch. I declined, saying I would take responsibility for any damages. Then, when I went to collect the Peugeot 308, I noticed a large tear and damage on the tire. When I mentioned I couldn’t drive the car in that condition, they offered a lower-segment Volkswagen Up as an alternative. When I refused, they said I could upgrade the car for an extra fee. Shouldn’t they have upgraded me for free in this situation? We spent two hours dealing with this. When I said I would file a complaint and leave a bad review, they offered me the full insurance for €144 and a free upgrade. I had no other option, so I accepted, but it felt very unfair.
the pick up of the car was the worst experience I ever had with a car rental company! The guy behind the desk was in the beginning very friendly. Too friendly. Typical Italian smooth guy with earrings and rings on, very loud and zero ability to listen to the clients. I already paid for a full insurance with Rentalcars, but the Autovia guy insisted to have a extra insurance. He took his calculator...'If you pay no insurance, and if something happens... toccles on his calculator... Then you have to pay +2800 euros yourself! BUT, if you pay (toclles again on his calculator)... This amount... €287 for insurance for 1 week... Then you have to pay (toclles again on his calculator)... €0. My answer: "Ok, but I already have a full insurance via Rentalcars?"... Autovias answer: "No No No, I see it everyday, this is nothing!". We did not take the extra insurance offcourse, since this is not our first rental car experience via Rentalcars (only good experiences!) and from that moment on he was not friendly anymore. Angry. "So, this means that you are the boss of the car for the coming 7 days! If something happens... you pay!" Ok sir, we will not pay the €287 insurance!!!! Zero client oriented service! ZERO! Then we came at the car park, finaly found the car after searching for 1 hour with other Autovia clients... We looked at the car and I never had any car in such bad condition on the outside like this car!! Scratches everywhere, bumps everywhere, the bumper was loose from a previous accident, extremely dirty on the outside (inside was ok), the trunk plate was broken (we didn't even put our suitcases there!). You can have a car in such a bad condition, BUT if the Autovia guy then wants to take out everything for that extra insurance of €287... For this? This means that they don't use the extremly expensive insurance to fix the car :D Smells like scam?! Again: ZERO client oriented service! We made videos and maybe 100s of photos of every bump, scratch... of the car since we knew or at least had the feeling that this company is smelling like ***. No recommandation to hire a car here! Then I checked the papers of the car and there were no valid insurance papers... Called the guy from the desk again..."Jeah, no problem sir, everything is in the computer" and he puts down the phone. I call back since I wanted to have the papers! 'Hi Autovia, me again, I need to have the PAPERS NOW!'... They Autovia guy was NOT amused, but I insisted to have the papers in my possession. Asked to send it via e-mail... While on the phone words as 'MADRE MIA' and 'TEMPO! TEMPO! TEMPO!' came accross... Again: ZERO oriented service. The only Plus point I can find was the guy at who we dropped of the keys. This guy was ok!
I want to share a terrible experience I had with your company during a recent car rental. I initially paid €73 through Booking.com for insurance, but when I went to pick up the car, I was shocked to be charged an additional €184 for insurance—despite only having the car for one and a half days.
When it was time to return the car at your Bergamo location, we couldn’t find anyone at the designated drop-off address. My friend had to go inside the airport to ask for assistance while I waited outside with the car. We ended up leaving the car in the parking lot as there were no staff present to help.
To make matters worse, the woman at the counter informed us that there was no one available to take us back to the airport, even though the parking lot is 45 minutes away! She mentioned a free bus that would take 20 minutes, but we had to wait another 25 minutes for it to arrive, turning a short trip into a nearly hour-long ordeal. The alternative was an Uber costing €73.40, with no taxis available.
This was the worst rental experience I've ever had. The overcharges and lack of customer service were unacceptable. I strongly advise against renting a car from this company.
Extremely arrogant and rude attitude from the front-desk staff! They refused to give us the car which was already pre-paid and left us without the car, plus we lost the money! The staff behaved super unprofessional, then left the working place without any agrument or anything! Totally not recommended! NEVER use this company, their staff is horrible!
Today 06/09/2024 345 euros were stolen from my credit card account.
The dispute with them is not over and the last letter from them was 06/24/2024 and I was waiting for a decision. But today they stole money from my card.
