Absolutely awful pick up process with one of the customer service representatives on 14th March around 8pm (unfortunately didn't catch his name).
Autovia agent was very rude, tried to sell the additional insurance and auto assistance package - AA was already included in the rental price. He has also made remarks that we should take insurance as my wife is pregnant and "you never know what can happen with the car" Surely enough when we have picked the car - there was constant oil warning on it and no one to talk to as the pick up location is 5 mins shuttle ride from the airport.
Needless to say that made our trip very stressful as we were not sure if the car will break down. Luckily we came back ok but the oil warning was still there when we were dropping the car off.
Representative also requested me to take a pictures of new damages on the car and send it when picking it up. The car had a lot of damages and it took me around an hour to inspect and send multiple emails (7x) An hour wasted! We are renting regularly and the standard is to take a picture or video when picking up the car and show them to staff when dropping the car off - NOT sending multiple emails with big attachments when you are picking the car up.
The only saving grace was the representative who was checking the car during the drop off process - very nice guy - no complaints here - hence 2 stars. Company really should take a look at how they train their employees - especially the gentleman working on the evening of 14th March. This recent experience means I will most likely never rent from Autovia/Ecovia again. Shame!
1.5 hour late and they will force you to pay a penalty that cost more than the car rent. This company is a scam, don't rent from them.
SCAM, AVOID THIS COMPANY!!!
We booked online on their website, rental and insurance for the car. After 1 hour waiting the guy at the counter tried to sell us a new insurance as he alleged that the insurance which we already paid for, was not valid. Despite the insistence and the exuberant sums mentioned by the seller in case of damage to the car, we decided to proceed without the “extra” insurance. At that moment he started to invented rules so we would have to pay other fees. He said that my 35 kg/150cm son had to stay in a “child seet”. We laughed and explained that this would not possible as he would hit his head against the ceiling. As he didn’t had a good argument to my point we switch it and said that those were the company policies and we would not get the car without paying 50EUR fee for a chair. The chair was old, in very bad condition and dirty! We had no option and paid, (ofcourse without needed) but all this felt a real scam and was a bad start on our holiday. They attract and lock the customer with a low rental fee but at the end it’s more expensive than known and serious companies. Try to rent from a secure company!
I rented a car for 7 days, reserved for opel corsa but got lancia ypsilon but that’s fine, they warn you about that in advance ( just read the contract). Petrol tank was full. I purchased freedom insurance which is the most expensive but it covers all imaginable damage, and security deposit is 100 euro. Staff at the desk at the BGY was lovely and the lady quickly did all the paperwork and told me how to get to the car which was about 1km from the airport at the P3. Though I made a reservation for 7 days, at the desk asked if its possible to exceed rent for one extra day and they said yes, extra cost will be taken out of security deposit. Overall very good experience. I’d recommend autovia to my friends!
It is unacceptable and unheard of, being obligated to pay over €3.000,00 for random weather disaster, flat tires, windsrceen damage from incoming rocks. It's as if the car is without any insurance for itself. (Explanation of rental conditions from employee of the month over at Bergamo).
Embarrassing, to say the least.
Of course I, nor anyone I can help, will never again use your company nor affiliates to rent a car in whichever country you might have a base on.
After the role played from your employee at Bergamo reaching for aggravated penalties just because we were delivering the car in Naples, penalties because of the madness it is driving amidst the inconscious people of southern Italy, paying >€300 for full coverage, arriving to a 37000km car, with a revision due 18000km ago, steering wheel not aligned, no winscreen liquid, was really mint.
Reserved the car through a third party with the top insurance. Was told that had to upgrade the insurance provided by the rental company (autovia) to avoid paying 350€ administrative charges once I delivered the car. Since the insurance was around 250€ there isn't much of a choice. Complete scam. Also, the car wasn't what was on the reservation, was a downgrade, the inside was completely falling apart (could see the car's interior through the damaged gear shift), and it didn't have enough horse power for the hills.
Pros: good car and very good price. It was the better price for a full cover insurance rent.
Cons: The company office is in the ternimal but the parking lot was outside the terminal. There is a shuttle bus but it had problems that meant delay in reaching the vehicle. In total getting the car took us an hour since we arrived at the terminal office
Provisions for mobile charging totally inadequate. I found only one free charging station between gates A11 and A12. The wireless pad took one phone at the time but mine hadn’t advanced even 1% after 10min. Two USB ports were broken. There is a pay facility I didn’t use. Passengers spend enough money at airports without having to pay for this basic service.
Quick, friendly and very efficient service at the desk. The car was fairly new but definitely they should had valeted before giving to a new customer. There was food debris, dirty and was a bit of smell of cigarette. The condition of the car was very good though, not many Kms.
Good service , friendly, good information. We chose for extra insurance for hagel. We got a nice hybrid upgrade. Nice new car.
Good communication and easy to find location. Eveything was explain clear and understandable. Car was clean and we’ve been happy to choice autovia. No issue at all. Recommended everyone.
Perfect. Nice girl at the airport anda nice guy at the car park. Reasonable price
Every information were clear, car was great and i didn't have any issues
Good prices, insurance against all risks with balanced value, easy to make the reservation, pick-up and delivering the vehicle.
I booked through Ryanair with full insurance. On Bergamo AirPort the employee from the desk wanted to sell me another insurance because they told me the Ryanair insurance is not valid ?? He even got mad because I refused. They block 500 euro from your credit card. Upon return from the car they say it will take 5 working days to unblock it. This however took almost 4 weeks. I have send various emails to check and 0 respond on both matter. Never again.
We weren't able to pay for the deposit without a credit card (nor debit or virtual cards were accepted) owned by the driver. We weren't this was needed when we booked the car we had to cancel the booking and book it again to change the driver, losing the money we paid for the insurance. We weren't offered any other solution.
We had booked a car with Autovia and, knowing our flight was a late arrival, had provided all flight details and the booking was accepted. On arrival at Milan Bergamo airport there was a 10 minute delay while we waited for the steps for disembarkation. Leaving my wife to collect our luggage I went directly through to the Autovia car hire and, despite only being a few minutes late found the office locked, the staff having closed shop and gone home. We were forced to seek alternative arrangements and were informed that this was a regular if not daily occurrence. We later found out that not only did they close shop but they cancelled the entirety of our car hire, forcing us to spend our first day on holiday looking for another, more respectable, car hire company. I personally would not use this company again.
I did rent a car via booking.com with insurance, they warning that company may try to sell extra insurance. The officer guy in airport say that insurance what I was buy when I make booking was not enough, so I accept more insurance (have to pay 200e more, the rent was 200e so it cost about 400/1week. Also they make 100e resevation from my bank card and promise that give back. Everything was good when I give car back but on my bank account I see still -100e resevation. I am not pleased. this rent was very expensive and give misleading info. Still waiting 100e back on my account (rent ends almost 3 weeks ago)
I am very grateful to Autovia. My son and I came to Bergamo. We had booked a car via Ryan Air but this had been cancelled. Autovia found us a good car at a reasonable cost. The car was automatic and very reliable. More than that, the woman at the counter in the airport was wonderful to us, and the man who handed us the car and took it back was friendly and kind. It was very hot! We needed kindness. This company should get customers just based on the customer service they provide.

If your flight is late be ready to pay Eur 100 overtime for 30 mins and suprisingly i was 30 mins late from my schdeuled booking and on the counter i was told the car i reserved is given to someone else. so i ended up paying extra for upgrade and overtime for staff for them to stay open late. negative review is about company policy and poor practice...Probably a great company to work for if your hourly rate is Eur 200/hr.
