Having your own personal indemnity insurance

Every Dental Nurse registered should also have their own personal indemnity as extra cover. Fine, if you have cover from your employer, that supports you only on the practice premises where you actually work.

Consider a senerio outside of this box. Attending an event, socially, holidays, driving, neighbour disputes, plenty of scenrio's that could place you in a serious, vunerable situation that can could put your registration at risk.
Consider financial burden to fund legal costs, your reputation, your empolyers fear, that this could bring disrepute to their organistation which they will consider first. The support you will receive for legal paperwork which is overwhelming for a lay person to understand. Therefore having a impact on your physical and mental health. I can not understand reading GDC professional hearing cases, why, did they not have legal support?
Reason for having two different indemnity insurances. I hope this is helpful.

It’s a great platform for us all to connect on. The only problem I have is inconsistency of joining. Each year when we renew, we either get a paper card with our details on or a real card, with a pen and a badge too.

Hi Charlotte,

Thank you for your review. At the beginning of 2020, we have changed our membership card from simple paper to a more durable plastic membership cards. Along with that, all joining/renewing members will now receive a pack containing some freebies. Rest assured, next year when you renew your membership, you can expect a brand new plastic card in the post.

Dear member,

Thank you for your feedback. We want to ensure all our members/non-members have the best experience with us and we're sorry to hear this was not the case on this occasion.

As we understand , the joining/renewing process have now changed and split into two parts. This is something we had no control over. As an organisation we are required to comply with the GDPR regulations and therefore we're now unable to process applications/payments on behalf of indemnity provider which is what made the process much easier in the past.

We'd like to clarify that you can still see the prices for membership and indemnity on our website before deciding to purchase the products. Full prices and information about what each membership includes is available here: https://tinyurl.com/uudm735 and full details of our indemnity partnership and preferential indemnity fees for members can be found here: https://tinyurl.com/wj4sv4o.

We're doing everything we can to improve and with recent system upgrades we're still changing and reviewing our processes to make sure that we provide you with the most user-friendly experience on our website. In the meantime, to ease the transition and help you with the new process, we've created a step-by-step guides available on our website, included in our letters and emails providing information on how to renew your membership and indemnity to make the process hassle-free. We're sorry you missed those.

Also, while we try our best to postpone the price increase for as long as possible so our members can benefit from the cheapest indemnity possible, this is sometimes not possible to achieve. The indemnity provider decided to increase the costs due to the continuously raising expenses associated with claims handling and protection. Whilst this increase was approx. £6, restassured, your membership price has not increased and is not going to increase anytime soon.

We'd like to take this opportunity to apologise for any inconvenience caused on this occasion. We strongly value our member opinions and we'll aim to do our best to improve in the future.

In the meantime, if you'd like to discuss things further with us or if there's anything else we can do to improve your experience, please do not hesitate to contact us on 01253 338 360. We'd be more than happy to help.

Kind Regards,
BADN Team
