They charge for shipping and then it takes forever. The delivery date keeps changing and I’m suspicious the pay for a cheaper service that allows the carrier to bump your package if they choose. This is an insult to customers. This is likely the company trying to recoup tariff costs. Too bad, will ship elsewhere from now on.
Beware of elastane
Many of Banana Republic pants are often a blend of cotton and elastane. The problem with the pants is not the cotton but elastane. This synthetic looks beautiful on first site but is a nightmare to take care of. Garments with elastane wrinkle with ease and removing them is extremely difficult. Traditional steam and iron techniques will fail because elastane cools differently than cotton. Also, the synthetic will pucker when ironing. Pressing the iron on the fabric offers little help. Avoid this product.
Purchased a pant from Banana Republic…
Purchased a pant from Banana Republic with a $30 off coupon marking down a $90 pant to $60. The pant was too large, and my only option was to return it. No option to exchange it. I contacted customer support to receive a new $30 coupon and they would not honor it. Avoid this company like the plague.
Awful online shopping experience
Their e-commerce experience is truly awful. They always leave off half your address off the order. And then you have to go through a wild good chase on UPS trying to speak to someone that isn’t a robot just to get the information updated. What is the point of getting us to input our COMPLETE address on the website when the company leaves half of it off when shipping your package?! This is the second time it’s happened to me. It’s 2025. Shipping a package should be easy stuff. How bad is this company?!!
Terrible quality
I got the quilted jacket with corduroy collar and the material feels super cheap and the fit is terrible.
Cancelled order for no reason, support is useless
They cancelled my order for no reason when I used their discounts. And worst support ever, they can’t do anything, just useless, AI can tell me same excuses. Few days my order stayed and then they decided to cancel it and refund for no apparent reason besides the use of promo and discounts. Once is a while they had nice prices and they just cancelled the order because they want to. Worst! Many hours wasted on picking products and researching. You just can’t trust them anymore.
Attempted two times to buy from their webpage. Both times Banana republic cancelled the order.
Attempted two times to buy from their Online store. I live in Mexico so had the shipping address in my hotel in NY.
Attempted to pay with a Mexican Aeromexico PLatinum American Express card. Impossible. Any other store in the world allows it but not Banana Republic. After accepting the charge and providing a shipping number then i receive an email cancelling my order and indicating the order "has unfortunately been cancelled due to a potential fraud alert". I then used a US Platinum Amex card, same story. Confirmed the order and then received the same lame email. Had a similar issue some years back when ordering to a relative's house in Denver. Order never arrived. Thought that by now they would have improved.
Its 2025 for christ sake. Never have I had any issues with other brands. Bloomingdales, Amazon, etc. They can all deliver with no problems. Never even attempting to buy from them again.
They have the worst policies I have…
They have the worst policies I have ever seen. They make it difficult to see when something is "Final Sale" which easy gets you stuck with some poor quality, too big, ugly item that they REFUSE to let you return for a different size or even exchange for a different item.
My guess is they know what ugly junk they're selling and that they will NEVER be able to unload this crap they call clothing so they TAKE YOUR MONEY and leave you with clothing you'll NEVER be able to use.
I've shopped with this company for so many years. This has now happened to me twice. I'm not doing this anymore. At least J Crew will allow you to exchange your "Final Sale" items. I'm sticking with them.
Banana, if you're looking for answers as to why your sales and foot traffic is down, start with your ridiculous policies and the way you treat long time, card holding customers.
TOTAL RIP OFF
TOTAL RIP OFF. Not slim fit, wrong size sent, and apparently pre worn-not a tag in site!!
Terrible customer service
Terrible customer service. Have consistently been shopping at Banana Republic for 15 years. Placed an online order last night. Woke up this morning to an email from Banana Republic stating I had placed a "fraudulent" order and that it had been cancelled. My first thought was, oh no, someone stole the credit card I used to place the order! There must be an alert on the card notifying businesses that if this credit card is used, to then report it. I panicked. Called Banana Republic immediately asking for clarification before I call my credit card company to report the card stolen. The Banana Republic Customer Service rep was so hostile, condescending and impatient. After 10 minutes of asking him multiple times why Banana Republic is stating that I attempted to make a "fraudulent" purchase, he finally said that the billing address on my credit card does not match the billing address I placed on the order. That's it. Nothing more. Banana Republic had me in a panic thinking my credit card had been stolen, when all I needed to do was update the saved information on my credit card (I moved 2 months ago). Unbelievable. 15 years was a good run Banana Republic but our relationship is done.
DO not buy online all three of my…
DO not buy online all three of my recent orders have been messed up in some way and they even messed up the replacement order THEY encouraged. They refuse to refund items they know are missing from a order that weighed the weight of one shirt.
Disgraceful Delivery
Disgraceful Delivery – Banana Republic Doesn’t Care About Customers.
This is the second time in less than two months that Banana Republic has failed to deliver my order — and I’m beyond frustrated. I tried using two different addresses: my home and my office. Neither worked. What kind of logistics mess is this?
To make things worse, both orders were time-sensitive: one was a dress for my own birthday, and the other a pair of pants for my son’s birthday next week. I now have nothing to wear for either occasion — thanks to a brand that clearly doesn’t give a damn.
And the customer service? Useless. No empathy, no real solutions, just a black hole of indifference. It honestly feels like they’re running their operations in a banana republic — unprofessional, unreliable, and completely out of touch.
Banana Republic, get your act together. Your delivery system is broken, your customer service is a joke, and your disregard for loyal customers is insulting.
Unhappy and disappointed with refund policy
I am a customer of Banana Republic as minimum as 2020. I always was happy with my purchases. But this time I am absolutely disappointed with policy of refund and customer services. I bought online very beautiful velvet skirt. I got it in 3 days, but it was sent from the store with no proper package and with the security tag on it. I chatted with representative, and the lady suggested to visit a store to get rid of it. But because of some my personal issues I can not visit the store (that is why I ordered online), so she provided me a return label. I sent it back the same day, and on the next day it was delivered to BR. But I did not receive any confirmation that the status of my order has changed, and that they got my skirt. So I contacted again Customer service. The representative said: BR does not provide any update on a status, so I need to wait. I asked: how I can prove that they got my skirt, if according to my account, my order was delivered and my money was transferred to BR account. The representative said: you will receive a refund in 14 days and our conversation is like a proof. I waited one week. Nothing changed. No skirt, no money. I contacted Customer service third time. And again they said to wait only the period of waiting became longer up to middle of June. And I placed my order on May 20. I don’t understand why BR can not even send me an e-mail, that my issue with skirt – in process, that BR got my item. Again repeat in my BR account is written that the status of my order is closed, my skirt was delivered. No skirt, no money. Unhappy and disappointed.
Ribbed button down shirt women
the ribbed button down shirt is cute and soft, but cheap and very thin. Not good quality by any means. More like a Target item.
Very disappointed after 30+ years as a loyal customer
Very disappointed after 30+ years as a loyal customer
I’ve been a loyal Banana Republic customer for over 30 years, but my recent experience has been deeply disappointing. I purchased a knitted pullover at one of their New York stores, and after only 6 or 7 wears, it already started pilling and eventually tore — despite following all care instructions.
What’s even more frustrating is that Banana Republic offers no after-sales support for customers outside the US. This is incredibly unfair and not what you’d expect from a brand that presents itself as premium and international.
I never expected such poor quality and lack of customer care from a company I’ve supported for decades. Sadly, this experience has made me seriously reconsider my loyalty to the brand

Got 3 wrong items and they did not evend refound!
Your Processing Times Should Not Be Subsidized by Your Customer's Dollars
I recently closed my Banana Republic account because of a terrible experience that I had. As a fairly new card member, I tried to make my payment on the due date and their online platform would not allow me to do so, instead forcing me to schedule my payment for the next day. By doing this, Banana Republic took my payment as a late payment, tacked on a late fee, for the same dollar amount as my payment, thereby negating the amount that I had just paid and returning my account to its previous balance. While I do not begrudge any organization for charging late fees, I do not agree with organizations using sketchy practices such as this, not allowing a payment to be made on its due date, and instead forcing the payment to be made at a later date thereby imposing a late fee on the customer. As a result of this, I will never again seek any kind of line of credit with Banana Republic nor will I ever purchase their products. This is a pity, as I very much like the products sold by this company, but if they want to extract an extra $30 from me, then they clearly do not value me as a customer, nor do they want or deserve my future business and dollars.

Their horrible colonialist name is appropriate
made it seem like there was free shipping oh wait that is only if you are a member- can you cancel so I can become a member and reorder? "Sure you can. Phsyc" will never buy from them again
Refund not posted timely
My returned online order has been received but no refund posted. Buyer beware Banana Republic does not refund money when they receive the returned item.
Don’t shop with GAP. They are just a bad company.
I ordered a hat and a bag. Banana Republic hired UPS to deliver TWO items. I only received the hat. This not my first bad experience with BANANA Republic. They have refused to stand behind the carrier. Refused to even offer to replace the lost item. I am what they deem an “Icon” customer as I have purchased a lot of merchandise from them. This is a constant with them. They tell ME to contact the shipper. Why does the customer have to track down product because of their crappy performance? Beware these people, they have no concern for their customers. That’s Banana Republic, also known as GAP. I would give them a zero if I could. Check out the Better Business Bureau ratings as well. Not good, but I had no idea just how much they rip the customer off.
