I have recently opened 2 online accounts with the Birmingham without any problems.

My failed attempts to open a two year fixed term savings account were met with all sorts of apologies about IT problems and system failures and no definite timescale for when an account might be up and running. The staff kindly suggested that I should feel free to invest elsewhere though that wasn’t quite the response which I expected! On the plus side, they did answer the phone…….

Tried to put two different mortgages through them and ended up with neither of the properties due to them dragging their heels until the offer expired.

I opened a bond with Birmingham Bank, they asked me to set up a password for security reasons. The following day I wanted to log into their "savings portal" so put in my email address and password, they then sent me a OTP to my phone, when I entered the 6 digit number I got a message to say it was invalid!! I tried once again and got the same message. At this point I requested a new OTP and this time I was told the new one had expired, I've emailed them twice because I appear to be locked out however they can't be bothered to reply.

Birmingham Bank look to be a regional outpost of Better.com, the mortgage company whose CEO Vishal Garg made famous by sacking 900 employees over Zoom.
I can only assume he's also sacked everyone of any ability at Birmingham Bank as well. I called the number of a gentleman I'd previously done business with with only to be told that he no longer worked there. The young gentleman I spoke to could not have been more helpful and explained that he'd pass my details on. I did not hear back until I called again, to be told that the young gentleman I'd spoken to also now no longer worked there.
I therefore assume that Birmingham Bank is playing employee 'speed dating' or there is simply a revolving door. I decided to take my business elsewhere.

They offer slightly higher rates, but they are not straight forward to deal with.
They don't reply to online messages, conflicting emails sent with differing details.
I'd advise not to put your savings with this company and look elsewhere.
