Slow service, disappointing experience
We were a small party of 4, visiting the Southport restaurant - early evening of 28th July.
Quickly greeted and seated, but then waited for for over an hour to have the order taken and meal delivered. No apology for the long wait.
We also had to make 3 requests for a jug of water and one of the desserts was cold.
There appeared to be plenty of staff on duty, but most were at the bar area, talking and apparently chatting on social media. The venue was not particularly busy and sadly we didn't see any evidence of management on site or enthusiasm to look after guests.
A very disappointing experience as we have visited this restaurant on several occasions and always had prompt, courteous service, with great food.
We will not be rushing back or recommending.
Vibrant restaurant with excellent food
We visited the Eastbourne branch of Bistrot Pierre for the first time last night, having had the Soiree Gastronomique (six course menu) recommended to us. It is in a beautiful location overlooking the sea and the restaurant was very busy, being late July. I had booked in advance so we were shown straight to our table and our main waitress, Mia, quickly took our order. Despite reading other reviews about the long wait to be served, we received our first course quite quickly and Mia seemed to note when we had finished each course and there was not too long to wait to receive the next course - although there was sufficient time to digest between each. On the plus side, we thought the food was fantastic. Probably the best onion soup I have ever tasted, the Steak Diane was perfectly cooked, and the chocolate torte was delicious. On the negative side, it does feel very frenetic because of the staff. We actually had five different waiters/waitresses serve us during the meal - although Mia was there at the beginning and end, and in the middle asked us if everything was OK - but it would have been nice to have had the continuity of the same person throughout. It was good that there were plenty of staff on a busy summer's evening, but they all rushed everywhere as if their lives depended upon it, so every few minutes there was one of them dashing by, grim faced, or squeezed in beside you at another table - which means that the evening didn't feel relaxed or leisurely, and it was like eating in the middle of Piccadilly Circus. Maybe at another time of day it would be calmer and more relaxing. If you enjoy good food, then this is definitely worth a try. And if you like a busy, hectic atmosphere, then this is the place for you.
Visit the Eastbourne restaurant if you can
Went to the Eastbourne restaurant. What a spectacular setting. Lovely sunny day sitting on the balcony and felt like we were on the Mediterranean. Really tasty food and very reasonably priced. Our waitress (Adie) was perfect and deserves a shout out. Can’t recommend the place highly enough.
Dreadful food..
Dreadful food... over cook... no way is the chef "french classical trained"... sorry but Bisto Pierre comes to mind. The wine was beautiful!
Chaotic and disappointing birthday celebration at Mere Green Bistrot Pierre
My family, friends and I have eaten at Bistrot Pierre on many occasions and have enjoyed each and every time . . .until tonight.
We were eventually shown to our table by the maitre de.
We waited for at least ten minutes before anyone came to take a drinks order.
Shortly afterwards our meal order was taken.
We then waited for twenty five minutes for the drinks to come to the table only to be told that there was no rum for a Mojita. A drink ordered without ice came with it almost full to the top with ice.
We had asked for a jug of water and didn't get one all night.
We then waited fifty minutes from ordering food until it came.
When mine came, the broccoli was so over cooked that two were just stalks without a floret.
I sent my vegetables back only for the same two stalks to be placed back on the table.
Three of the meals had no asparagus at all. We were told by the waitress that the dish didn't come with asparagus although it clearly said on the menu that it did.
The Chef came out of the kitchen wearing his Chefs whites. They were filthy and looked like they hadn't been washed for some time. He then proceeded to the toilet in his Chefs jacket and returned to his kitchen to continue cooking.
Service was chaotic at best with what appeared to be young, inexperienced staff.
I complained to the manager and he waived the bill.
A very disappointing birthday meal.
We didn't even stay for dessert it was so appalling.
Booked a table for 4 in Eastbourne…
Booked a table for 4 in Eastbourne yesterday, food is good but the service was awful. We ordered starters to come with our mail meals, only one came, one of the main meal was completely forgotten, then the starter came, had to keep asking for drinks, same thing nothing came, had to go to the bar to order. We probably had 5 staff serving us and it was messy, nobody seemed to know that the others are doing, they don’t pay attention to tables or customers and don’t make eye contact so that they don’t have to serve you. Another table was super overcharged too. It was a shamble from start to finish, the management need to step up or it’s in need of management , very poorly organised

Took a punt at going to Eastbourne and ate at Bistro Pierre.
Marty was our waitress and she was lovely, just the right mix of attentive and friendly.
Food was fabulous. I thought I was going to still be hungry but I wasn't! (I had goats cheese salad).
I will definitely be back to sample more food and cocktails. Or perhaps the cream tea.
Avoid Bistrot Pierre!! Can't cater for "VEGETARIANS!!"
Extremely disappointing platinum jubilee afternoon tea. Says on menu to Inform staff of special dietary requirements. I wanted 2 VEGETARIAN afternoon teas!!! Again, VEGETARIANS loose deal!! Waitress had no clue what went into a VEGETARIAN sandwich??? How difficult is a non meat or fish choice of sandwich??? Cream cheese and cucumber where 1 choice, smoked salmon another and coronation chicken the 3rd.
We were completely baffled when, 2 finger sandwiches of cheese and tomato (bread was drying out. 2 fingers of cheese and lettuce (white bread - drying out and a 3rd with yes, you guested it another cheese sandwich!!! But no cream cheese and cucumber!!!
The staff don't seem to know what they are doing!!! Shambles
Couldn't redeem any points. ? Why?
Points expired and taken away unfairly.
Thank you again for your hospitality on the 2nd May. We thoroughly enjoy coming to Bistrot Pierre in Weston Super Mare and it has become somewhat of a tradition over the years, covid permitting of course.
Our previous visit was for my wife's 50th birthday in October last year, so this demonstrates the high esteem we hold your restaurant in.
I have also previously held Christmas celebrations at your restaurant in Newport with a law firm that I work for spending a considerable amount of money but always well enjoyed.
You can imagine my surprise when I looked at my Bistrot Pierre account under my works email address and I had 5350 points removed as per below due to it having expired over time.. Covid prevented us from going anywhere and this expiration is very very unfair and 5350 point prove a considerable amount of money.
This was a real shame as we do so enjoy visiting your restaurant and I wanted to use my points on our visit but was not able to so I just we went ahead anyway.
I hope that you can find your way to reinstate the points as the only reason we had not visited in that time was due to Covid prevention. This unfair treatment completely contradicts the service provided by your staff in your restaurants.
Then you didn't even respond to an email that was sent to your head office as advised by your Weston Manager Cedric which is just rude!

Pre theatre booking for 5.15pm
Pre theatre booking for 5.15pm. Food pre ordered.
We sat at our table eventually at 5.50pm had our starter at 6.20pm - had to ask several times where our main meal was and left before pudding as didn’t have time- very stressful and unpleasant. All the manager did was wave his hand dismissing our comments say sorry but we are very busy - well don’t book in what you can’t cater for !!
However the food was amazing when we finally got served 🥴
Food is good and staff friendly
Food is good and staff friendly. However if you pay a deposit to book a table as we did for Mothers' Day and Easter Sunday they don't take this off your final bill - it is up to the customer to inform the staff that a deposit has been paid as their systems don't inform the staff. We visited Mere Green and on both occasions the deposit wasn't deducted off the bill.
Promising but empty menu
My partner and I went to this restaurant on a Tuesday evening at 7pm. The menu looked lovely but when trying to order, I had to settle for a FOURTH choice as they didn't have any of the first 2 choices left, and wouldn't swap out the potatoes on the 3rd choice.
This was at 7pm!
I wrote to the restaurant instead of writing a review so that they had a chance to respond to my complaint.
The response was quite arsey with a "couldn't care less" attitude, so here is the review!
I won't be back.
Mother's Day Meal.
We went to Bistrot Pierre in Nottingham for Mother's Day, meal was decent enough so the bill was paid on my credit card which was £64 as a £30 deposit had already been paid, I was asked if I wanted the receipt from the card machine and I said that I did so I popped it in my handbag together with the itemised food bill. When we got home, I looked at the receipt from the card machine and this was for £109, different table number, different number of people, different account number but the payment had been paid with my credit card! I phoned immediately and was asked if I could call in the next day to sort it out, I could not so my husband went and they assured him that the other payment of £109 had been removed from my credit card and all we needed to do was to pay the £64 for the meal we had eaten. This was done and my husband asked if there was any possibility of a goodwill gesture, for example the cost of the parking and the guy there said that he would sort something out and email me. He did not. I tried to send an email to Bistrot Pierre via their template online but after writing the message I was unable to send it and the message read "there is a problem with the form, please try again later" which I did, twice more, with the same message. I sent a message via Messenger to the Nottingham Bistrot and an email. No reply to either. I am unsure as to why anyone had to go into the restaurant to sort the payment out as this could have been done over the telephone. Not happy as this was quite a serious mistake and thank goodness I was in receipt of the receipt from the card machine. We have spent lots of money in this establishment over the years and this episode has not gone down too well with me at all.
Overpriced bland food in Mumbles
Overpriced bland food in Mumbles. Restaurant was full on a Tuesday lunchtime so we had to eat in the Bar. Slow disgruntled service. Never again.
Disappointing meal and poor service
My wife and I went for a Valentines meal at the Mere Green Bistro, priced at £34.95. After a while the waiter came to get our drink orders then we waited for them to take our dinner order. the drinks came and we waited for our starter, and waited, and waited. the starter eventually came, which tasted okay. we then waited for our main coarse. My wife had rump steak, medium rare, which was under cooked and very sinewy, which made it tough to eat. I had the Mussels, which were tasteless and nothing like the size of mussels that are depicted in the photograph on the website menu, some of them were so small that they were basically empty shells and at least eight of them were closed, so could not be eaten. I ordered garlic bread which was ordered as an extra and this was not delivered with my meal, but half way through it. As part of the meal we should have been served a glass of wine each., we had to aske for the wine as it was not delivered with the meal, and finally arrived just before we finished our meal. The waitress then gave us the wrong menu for the deserts, as we should have been selecting from the Valentines menu. Also before this the waiter tried to give our meal to the wrong table. At this point I had to call over the Floor Manager to complain. He apologised and took two drinks that we had off the bill, he also gave my wife a free drink.
Overhale I was disappointed with the service and the meals, especially as this was a celebration meal.
I would NOT recommend this venue

Disappointing service
Disappointing service.
Table for two was shoe horned in between larger tables. Felt very uncomfortable. Mid way through our meal a band arrived to set up for New Year’s Eve celebrations immediately behind our table. The rest of our meal was spent being completely preoccupied by that bands’ activities. Our steak arrived and the server didn’t know which one was medium and which was well done, and got it wrong. The waitress could see we we unhappy and offered to move us to another table which we did, but no other sincere apology was forthcoming. Absolutely no atmosphere at all and all in all very disappointing experience.
