A disgrace to the country... Excessive security checks, no free water available anywhere and rip off pricing. It was no surprise that nobody was buying anything from the food outlets, if you want to... See more

Dalaman Airport – One of the Worst Airports I’ve Ever Used
Absolutely awful airport. Security is a complete joke — you’re forced through three separate checks where the staff barely even bother to search properly. The pat downs are so half-hearted you could easily carry anything through, which makes the whole process pointless and frustrating.
The toilets are disgusting, dirty, and clearly not cleaned often enough. The food options are laughable: very limited and insanely overpriced, charging double or triple what you’d expect anywhere else.
To top it all off, the staff are rude and unhelpful. I asked for a simple hand check for photographic film (standard at most airports), and they flat out refused, forcing it through the x-ray scanner and risking damage. Zero flexibility, zero customer care.
This airport is a disgrace — filthy, expensive, and unsafe. If you can avoid flying through Dalaman, do yourself a favor and do it.
⭐ Overall: 0/5
DON’T BUY ANYTHING FROM UNIFREE DALAMAN AIRPORT, ESPECIALLY PERFUME
THE MAIN PERFUME SHOP (“Unifree”) IS A TOTAL AND UTTER RIP-OFF. Don’t buy any perfumes from there. The Perfume Sales Lady saw that we were in a rush looking for a specific perfume, and brought a bottle claiming it costs €260 but we’d get it €130 on Sale as it was the “last one”. Too rushed to double check while there, but when we got settled I saw that the same Perfume cost €60. Quite shameless, and a distasteful way to end a brilliant holiday with very hospitable Turkish people. DO NOT BUY ANY PERFUME from UNIFREE DALAMAN AIRPORT. Absolute robbery. In fact, I suggest never buying anything from Unifree Dalaman at all. Everything looked crazy expensive
Do not bring cigarettes through…
Do not bring cigarettes through Dalaman, are charging customs duty for 4 suitcases, 300 stacks of cigarettes, 75,000 Turkish liras customs fee and then they call London to say they will take them from you.
Midnight express on a plane
Midnight express on a plane. Avoid the allsports bar at all costs, staff there were like prison guards crossbreed with male chickens.
Extortionate prices for everything, treat you like a criminal
Extortionate prices for everytng and mainly priced in Euro's not local currency
Excessive and aggressive search regime, treating everyone like they are a criminal. Total lack of respect for the people coming to their country spending their hard earned money. I will never go back despite meeting a few lovely local people
FARO BAR
FARO BAR - Daliman Airport
AVOID AT ALL COSTS.
Sells itself as a high end but its overpriced and terrible.
It was pretty much empty and it's clear to see why. Service was terrible and nobody came to check on us, but despite this they added a 10% service charge.
£4.85 for a splash of Almond milk in the (already overpriced) coffee. I asked for a little more bread for the hummus and got charged for that too.
Nightmare/Aviod * FARO * cafe/bar Dalaman Airport…
FARO cafe/bar Dalaman Airport departures. Avoid at all costs! McDonald's is a better bet & i don't even like McDs.
After a fantastic family holiday in Kalkan, nothing brings you right back to earth with a bump than the very poor departure experience through Dalaman Airport and the TERRIBLE Faro cafe bar.
The security and passport staff have very low morale which shows with poor customer service. We were a group of 8 going through different security and passport check points. The staff were soo miserable, service without a smile. Passport officers slumped in chairs, just throwing your passport back at you. Not one smile, nothing like all the other lovely Turkish people you meet.
Dalaman is famously known for its rip off food & drink prices, but DON'T go to FARO cafe bar in departures unless you want to really have the worst service and food I've ever had in 45+ years of traveling to Turkey. 3 members of staff, all badly trained and rude. That terrible Faro cafe bar experience at Dalaman airport cost us £165! for the incorrect order, incorrect bill, with 'service charge', very cold eggs benedict, long wait, making us late for boarding, a cappuccino, latte & mocha all tasting the same. If you have any allergies i.e. gluten, don't go here, the staff have no clue.
Faro cafe bar, Dalaman airport, ZERO Stars, terrible, AVOID.
Worst airport in the world
Would have given 0*s if possible what can I say it was honestly the worst experience I've ever had arrived at the airport after an absolutely brilliant holiday with no complaints at all but as soon as we got to dalaman airport it was an awful experience until we managed to get sat on the plane home the staff at the airport minus the people who worked for Jet2 were absolutely awful and couldn't care less about you not one person was helpful again minus the jet2 staff the check's we're beyond a joke I get the whole keeping people safe and checking thing but 5 time's before getting onto the plane with passport checks and body searches was beyond a joke the duty free seemed fairly average for prices but personally didn't buy anything from the airport but the prices for food were an absolute joke most expensive ones I've ever seen £15 for a basic sandwich and a small bottle of water 😬 honestly the whole experience in the airport really put me off having to travel to Turkey again which is a shame as it's an amazing country 😭
Dalaman Airport
Avoid buying food from Dalaman Airport. Expensive food, they got rid of Burger King, so we went to mcdonald's as there is 2 Mcdonald at the Airport 1 down stairs and 1upstairs, we chose to go to the upstairs mcdonald's and bought 2 burger meals and it cost £40.00. The prices were in Euros for some reason and when we asked them for the price in Turkish Liras, they got the manager who charged us 2000 liras. After they fetched the meal to the table with the receipt I noticed it stated 1,968 Turkish Liras but they deliberately charged us 2,000 Liras, i didn't say anything as i didn't want to cause a fuss at the airport, as most of the staff and manager were hanging around the till watching us, the extra money charged will have gone in they pockets. The staff were eating melon on the counter they serve customers on and I witnessed the staff that bring the food to the table, spitting the melon seeds in her hands and then bringing food to the table, without washing hands! Got ripped off at McDonald's in Dalaman Airport and felt disgusted at what I witnessed with the staff hygiene. Felt physically sick at the stench of the toilets at the Dalaman toilets, with long queues of people waiting to use the toilets. The Airports had an upgrade, but it seems to have gone downhill. Uncomfortable wooden seats. Turkey has gone expensive, be careful as they are ripping tourist off by adding extra charges, thinking we tourist dont notice.
Horrible and Chaotic
Been coming to Turkey for many years now and through Dalaman airport and in that time, it has not improved once it is disorganised chaos and simply the worst part of the holiday.
Check in hardly opens on time leading to big unnecessary cues that can be avoided, then sometimes the check in desk will randomly close and you get shifted to another cue.
Staff are rude and obnoxious more like prison guards, shouting at people if they simply are not clued up instead of calmly talking to people complete lack of people skills. Also, they always seem to be understaffed.
Lack of seating in the terminal for people especially anywhere for an anxious traveller to relax away from the crowds. Even worse when going to the gate insufficient seating for a full flight leaving people standing or sitting on the floor.
One thing you will learn from going through the airport a few times is to take your own food with you, as it is a complete rip off and disgusting what they charge for food and drink simply ripping the travellers off, this has always been the same and I feel for the first time travellers through the airport that have little choice but to buy something, McDonalds for a standard meal like £21-25 completely disgusting, then a stale roll of ham and cheese and a coffee will cost you like £14, even a bottle of pop or water £3-4.
No water availability to fill a water bottle up, once asked at one of the food outlets to fill my bottle up they wanted 5 euro.
The added security measure at the gate is totally unnecessary, having already been through two previous security screenings, I know this is imposed by the British government but it's ridiculous, I mean for example this time our gate was displayed on screen everyone was in the gate settled and then we were all told to vacate and line up and they set this security stand up while you have to wait in cue to get called forward which is not a pleasant experience, they turn your cabin bag contents out check everything, swab electronic devices, pat you down you feel as if you are a criminal. They took so long to do it the plane started boarding and they never finished processing all passengers on flight.
WiFi is another joke 30 mins free if you get a code if anyone will give you it, and even then if you get the code it doesn't work properly. So no public WiFi in this day and age really?
The airport is too hot aircon is practically non-existent, making an already uncomfortable experience worse.
So as a result of 11 years coming to Turkey and sometimes twice a year nothing has changed at the airport and Turkey as a whole is now not the place we first came to all those years ago, so we won't be back.
A large middle finger to us as we left Turkey
Badly managed queues, line splitting, desk closing/reopening, no communication, everyone around us always looked pissed off.
Sunexpress tried to charge us 20 euros each for not checking in beforehand despite having large bags to check in.
Security took most of our diving lead weights, but not all of them which didn't make any sense, seemed corrupt, just wanting to take them.
No water fountains.
I paid 750tl for two KitKat sized chocolate bars, that's about 15 quid.
Such a sh!T experience, hopefully will never have to visit again
Worlds Worst Airport
Imagine you're creating the world's worst airport. Very expensive food and drink. 8 euros for a bottle of soft drink, £11 for a McDonald's Happy Meal. It makes Norway look cheap. Too hot, no Aircon and no public WiFi. 3 security checks each one more detailed, and the roof leaking. All announcements in Turkish that no one but the locals speak. You have just imagined Dalaman Airport :( Avoid at all costs even if you have to travel 500 miles further, you have been warned!
Bottle of budweiser and single malibu…
Bottle of budweiser and single malibu and coke £31.89 how can they charge that robbery
Dalaman ask Carslberg…..
On arriving, 1. queued to get in door for immediate luggage scan security check of bags. 2. Then queued for EasyJet bag drop for 45 minutes. 3. Then queued for passport control. 4. Then queued for normal bag scan security check. Then waited in no air con eating area and paid a fortune for McDonald’s..5. Then queued for another bag security check at gate. 6. Queued for bus to EasyJet aircraft. 7. Waited 1 hour in aircraft due to Air Traffic delay… if Carlsberg did airports….its not Dalaman…horrendous experience
This airport is horrible
This airport is horrible, rude staff, treated like a criminal and prices are beyond a joke.
Lounge horror
Lounge horror - Looks like McDonald's have moved into the old CIP lounge and they now occupy the old landing by the lavatories
No kitchen
No hot food
No terrace
1 star hotel style cold buffet
Truly a disgrace in this day and age - I hope this is very temporary as its so bad
Avoid this airport at all costs
Avoid this airport at all costs, it is not the place you want to be in or remember at the end of your holiday.
The whole place is just a rip off from top to bottom, £2.40p for a small bottle of water, gives you an idea.
I will never go back there and will avoid Turkey altogether if it continues as it is.
We tourists are being used as cash cows in a place we cannot avoid if we fly home from this region, so go somewhere else.
Thieving lot of bstds
Thieving lot of bstds, 21 euros for big mac meal, please take your own food otherwise you won't get nothing for your money.
The worst airport I've ever visited
The worst airport I've ever visited. Trying to sell British people thousands of cigarettes knowing its absolutely not allowed! They will confiscate them on arrival to the UK. A sandwich which was hardly edible, a packet of crisp and a small bottle of water....£25.92..😡 It's ok though, they sell the crap with a smile....I will never visit Turkey again...Rip Off!!!!!
Disorganised and overpriced shambolic mess
A large generally clean airport with the following problems:
Security: Ok we know it is important, but this is insane, 3 times we had to have our bags searched, in total we had to show our passports 5 times and boarding passes 6 times.
Prices: OMG they are insane, everything in duty free is way more expensive than Amazon or even the duty free on the plane. The food was an absolute rip off, they will charge you £35 for two sandwiches, two coffees and a bottle of water.
Toilets:
Not one of the toilets had working hand dryers or paper towels so enjoy walking around the airport with wet hands.
Wifi: Didn't work with any of our passports
They do have a smoking area which helped me calm my shattered nerves with a quick vape!
Sadly this is the only real airport for Marmaris and surrounding areas, an alternative would be to fly to Istanbul then take a 10 hour coach journey to Marmaris, which could be worth it in the daytime to see Turkey and avoid this horrific place.
Otherwise expect to be treated like cattle, expect to be treated like criminals as they swab your phone and electronics for explosives (btw, I speak Turkish so I asked them if they had ever found any positive results from the swabbing and they told me they had not).
And expect to be left standing in the gate area as there is not enough seating for a full plane. Expect endless queues as they check your passports again as you get on the plane, these are the same people who checked your passports minutes earlier to let you get into the gate.
In my years as a sales manager, I have travelled to 38 countries all over the world. This is, without a doubt, the most disorganised and overpriced shambles of an airport I have ever had the misfortune to visit. Avoid at ALL COSTS!
