A disgrace to the country... Excessive security checks, no free water available anywhere and rip off pricing. It was no surprise that nobody was buying anything from the food outlets, if you want to... See more

Disorganised and overpriced shambolic mess
A large generally clean airport with the following problems:
Security: Ok we know it is important, but this is insane, 3 times we had to have our bags searched, in total we had to show our passports 5 times and boarding passes 6 times.
Prices: OMG they are insane, everything in duty free is way more expensive than Amazon or even the duty free on the plane. The food was an absolute rip off, they will charge you £35 for two sandwiches, two coffees and a bottle of water.
Toilets:
Not one of the toilets had working hand dryers or paper towels so enjoy walking around the airport with wet hands.
Wifi: Didn't work with any of our passports
They do have a smoking area which helped me calm my shattered nerves with a quick vape!
Sadly this is the only real airport for Marmaris and surrounding areas, an alternative would be to fly to Istanbul then take a 10 hour coach journey to Marmaris, which could be worth it in the daytime to see Turkey and avoid this horrific place.
Otherwise expect to be treated like cattle, expect to be treated like criminals as they swab your phone and electronics for explosives (btw, I speak Turkish so I asked them if they had ever found any positive results from the swabbing and they told me they had not).
And expect to be left standing in the gate area as there is not enough seating for a full plane. Expect endless queues as they check your passports again as you get on the plane, these are the same people who checked your passports minutes earlier to let you get into the gate.
In my years as a sales manager, I have travelled to 38 countries all over the world. This is, without a doubt, the most disorganised and overpriced shambles of an airport I have ever had the misfortune to visit. Avoid at ALL COSTS!
Our first time to Turkey AND OUR LAST!!
Our first time to Turkey AND OUR LAST!!!!
A hell hole of an airport....Couldn't wait to get out of this country.
WON'T BE BACK.
Everything you read is 100% true.
dalaman airport is hell on earth
Dalaman airport has got to be one of the most poorly managed, terrible places I have ever had the displeasure of being. for starters the prices are absolutely ridiculous nearly £2 for a bottle of water!!! my main issue however is the staff at DLM. during my time there a child was sick on the floor and not a single wellness check was given nor was the puddle of vomit cleaned up for a good 25 minutes despite the fact at least 8 staff members (cleaners included) stepped over said puddle. whilst there we were taken for random searches during this one of the staff members groped my partner, swabbed all of his belongings whilst treating him like a criminal and shouting at him in turkish. complaints about this have been filed with both the airport and airline we flew with but still yet to hear anything back. In conclusion I would rather walk on burning coals than ever step foot in dalaman airport again and if you can avoid flying there I would recommend to do so.
Staff with zero charm.
Just got back from our first trip using Dalaman Airport and what can I say but that it's the worst level of staff customer service training that I've ever come across.
It really is so bad it makes Manchester Airport appear professional.
Awful airport
I have been coming to Türkiye for years and love it but dread coming back through Dalaman. It’s the worst airport I’ve ever been to. Horrendous check in queues, ridiculous prices on the duty free and even worse at the food outlets. Staff unnecessarily rude. Huge queues at second security check at the gate. In this one you have to unpack all your hand luggage. We took our granddaughter, first foreign holiday at 9, and they wouldn’t let us or her parents go to the desk with her. Made her unpack all her teddies and were really intimidating towards her. Really upsetting. At the gates there are the most uncomfortable benches but not nearly enough so lots of people sitting on the floor. & boarding is just a free for all regardless of priority boarding. Dalaman is a truly bad experience and they clearly don’t give a toss about bad reviews!
Criminal how expensive this airport is
Criminal how expensive this airport is, benches are the most uncomfortable design you can think of. Absolutely nothing positive to say about the place. Unfortunately I have to use it several times a year and I wish I didn't.
Can’t believe some people have rated it 2 stars
So disorganised and expensive
If I could give zero stars I would the…
If I could give zero stars I would the worst airport I hav ever experienced. Staff rude and couldn’t care less about tourists. Prices ridiculous stupid amount of unnecessary bag checks. Jet 2 should be embarrassed by employees that wear there badge. Really would be happy if I never visited there ever again.
Worst airport I have ever been too
Worst airport I have ever been too! Absolute shambles of a place..Price for food expensive Big Mac £20..Staff rude..In departure lounge you have to leave it to go to the toilet then Que back up to get back in the departure lounge which is absolutely disgusting!! AVOID THIS AIRPORT AT ALL COST! I would give in -100 if I could
Appalling Airport
The worst airport ever. Unfriendly staff too. All we wanted was free water from the taps at the coffee shop. They all refused this basic necessity. They said we need to purchase the water for 4 euros. Absolutely disgusting! I don't mind buying water but this was taking the mickey. The food kiosks were extremely expensive too. No free WiFi. UK airports are amazing compared to this and at that point i couldn't wait to leave Turkey. This has really put me off visiting Turkey in the future. Avoid unless you want to be ripped off. A McDonald's burger will set you back for about 20 euros!!!
Be aware of car rental in Dalaman airport
Just a scam , keep away, from car rental in Turkey . Our experience: Rental a car at Dalaman airport from Right car rental from 23.06.2024 to 03.07.2024 , the cheapest oldest burned from cigarette inside car, all pictures provided. Company has taken deposit twice from us, still waiting for 900 euros back. 5 weeks now, no hope. We will Never even again come to Turkey
What an absolutely disgraceful place
What an absolutely disgraceful place. It looks good, but the cost of food/drink is exorbitant, a MacDonalds meal was about 22 euros. I purchased some basics including water and other branded drinks which came to 29 Euros.
There is no WIFi to check status on flights. You have to obtain a code from a kiosk for half an hours free WiFi and then you have to pay. I did not see any kiosks.
The staff well what can I say? What a bunch of vile, rude individuals. That includes the passport control officers who were shouting at my wife as I had given her the wrong passport. Then the staff who do the security checks, who were rude and obnoxious, shouting to hurry up as I tried to put expensive electronic items back in my bag. There were two separate check points for undertaking X-rays on bags. Security is paramount but this was excessive.
I thought the airport was appalling. I am well travelled and can say that this is the worst airport I have ever had the misfortune to use. I had a pleasant holiday in Turkey but if this is the way you treat tourists, no thanks.
Marred overall holiday experience
I’ve been to airports all over the world and this has been my worst experience - it actually marred our overall holiday experience. I cannot believe how they can legally charge the prices they do - £20 for a Big Mac meal. There is very little seating options. I’m not surprised tourism is down in Turkey if this is what faces tourists coming home - their final experience of a country!
AVOID Dalaman airport
Dalaman airport
You will need to remortgage your house to buy anything in this airport! AVOID.
The airport is radiculous you have the pay €20 euros for WiFi. This is 2024, and you denying humans of the basic necesities. How are we meant to contact family and friends about our arrival without being scammed by Dalaman airport for €20 as soon as you arrive/departure.
The grounds men are scammers and they’ll charge you for going over just 0.5kg! I have never experienced this before with tui.
This has put me off traveling to Turkey just out of principle! Scammers!
This airport it absolutely dreadful
This airport it absolutely dreadful. Completely put me and my partner off coming back anytime soon. I never write reviews usually but what an absolute scam the food and drinks are! Me and my partner decided on getting pop eyes as it showed 300/400 TL for 2 meals as a deal, the woman behind the counter switched the scene with the tv remove as she seen us looking to other food which was wrote in euros which were nearly €20 a meal. We asked for the screen to be turned back on but the lady behind the till said she doesn’t understand when you quite clearly knew she did understand as I pointed to the remote and screen. Just another reason to completely rip off brits!
Duty free deception
Having ran the gauntlet of the duty free area, finally accosted and was told that I could take three cartons of cigarettes plus three packs of 10 Amberleaf tobacco, she showed me this on a giant board informing me that the UK government website showing one carton OR five pouches was out of date.
This in my mind is deception with the potential of have the lot confiscated plus a fine when going through the green gate in the UK.
Excessive security checks
Excessive security checks! No wifi once you get through security there is no WiFi unless you’ve got a code prior and that only gives you 30 mins which is probably the time it takes to through the security. Nowhere to fill up water bottles and extortionate prices to purchase water and food. Had a great holiday in Turkey but Dalaman airport was a big let down. Such a shame because the airport is spacious and clean but they aren’t interested in looking after the customers using it !
Don’t bother with this Airport if you…
Don’t bother with this Airport if you want a stress free easy departure. We arrived to check in after the first security check. Unfortunately for us they were training checking in staff. Each party took on average 15 mins to check in. After 1 hour 40 we were still in the cue. I found a supervisor and a Tui rep and suggested moving the trainees to one side and using the trained staff. Nope !! Ignored that so we were still at check in half an hour before our flight. Ran to the gate after another wait at the second security check with only one open. Got to the gate with 10 mins to final call and got searched again at the gate. They could see the gate was closing but continued to carry out random checks. Marmaris was great but we will not go back due to the hassle and unreasonable behaviour from the staff at that airport.
Ridiculous Food Prices.
Ridiculous Food Prices.
BE WARNED.
So we passed through Dalaman Airport on, the 20th August 2023.
Couldnt believe the prices of a Mac Donald's Big Mac Meal how, much. Well they wanted to relieve me of £15. Yes that's for one.
Burger King and KFC similar prices.
Unbelievable.
I understand airports are more expensive but here is just unbelievable.
So, be prepared to pay up, or better still get fed in resort.
Apart from that airport was quite and we flew threw security no problems
