My car was recovered by Egertons Abingdon by request of the police after a careless woman smashed into me whilst driving on her phone.
My little Beetle means the world to me, and I knew I wanted her back, and I told the driver this, and he was so empathetic and comforting at the scene of the accident.
They kept my car safe and this morning it was returned to me, by the same driver who collected her.
He was absolutely lovely, my car was in exactly the same condition as when it was taken, including the half a tank of petrol that I had left.
My husbands car was involved in an accident a few months ago (another person on their phone), and he had a very different story when he got his back from a different recovery yard. It had been drained of petrol and had a couple of things that were removed from it.
So I would absolutely recommend Egertons Abingdon. Wonderful caring team, great communication and they really looked after my car.
Avoid like the plague. They take work from multiple companies as can’t keep own customers. They work for motoring assistance and are the most rude and unhelpful ever. Woman I spoke to was rude, sarcastic and very unintelligent. Refused to come out due to a system error on there end. Your better off buying a chocolate exhaust than using them
Promised recovery in 60-90 minutes.
Finally assisted 4 hours later.
Missed a flight as a result of not being told the truth initially when I could have made other arrangements instead of being let down repeatedly & left stranded.
I was contacted by a member of staff to tell me I was going to have to wait another hour (3rd call delaying recovery after being promised the driver was on the way) the man was rude, spoke to me like I was stupid, talked over me and when I said I wanted to complain ended the call with sarcasm as though I’d have to wait longer. It was as if he was deliberately enjoying & adding to my stress then put the phone down on me.
Never, ever trust this company. They lie repeatedly are incredibly rude & treat customers terribly.
Avoid at all costs!
Forgot the name of attendent but he provided 5* service, he attended well in time and was done with the job winthin minutes.
We were at Hope Road in Sale and front passenger tyre was changed on Sept 06th around 09:15am.
Definitely recommended.
Prompt action. Very respectful and reassuring attention
Very good professional customer service, also call out was pretty quick (40mins)
They were good with what they did for me 👍
Driver arrived ahead of time and we were contacted to let us know when he was within a few minutes away.
Very efficient and knowledgeable driver who resolved our problem using his expertise and in a friendly manner. Overall delighted. 👍👏
Excellent response to breakdown. Arrived within time stated and car was sorted within minutes.
Excellent telephone operator great mechanic very good responss
Very swift response and problem resolved.
A man who works there
Literally put the phone down
Anyone who deals with this company will know
Never going to use them again
Hahahah was forced to remove the managers name!!!! ( first letter of each first word above) they have something to hide. Shame on you this review was from years ago.
the manager for out of hours put the phone down on me. Refuse to provide a service I pay for. Refuse to recover the vehicle has zero clue who the ceo of the company is and just hung up.
Absolutely brilliant service on a Sunday. Picked car up late Sunday afternoon. To late to take to dealership, so will take car to their yard. So driver told me he would drop off at dealership on Monday morning.
True to his word dropped off car first thing Monday. Dealership telephoned at eight o'clock, they had received the vehicle.Very impressed at Egertons service. Thank you.
Egertons rescued me through my membership with Green Flag. Manny and Mustafah from Sharston Depot, Manchester were on the scene on time. They efficiently helped with my issue, towing me to my named garage and taking time and care with my vehicle. They were friendly and helpful throughout and resolved my situation to my complete satisfaction. Thanks.
Zero stars for this company. I had a tyre blow out tonight on M40. Recovery was outsourced to this awful company. First text said they would be less than an hour. Then a further text to say they would be 3 hours. This was a priority call out as I was alone, night time on a very busy motorway. After discussions with Green Flag, our provider, it was suggested they look at replacing the tyre if that was going to be faster. I agreed. It was suggested by a tyre company that I very slowly drive on the hard shoulder until off the motorway and pull in near a roundabout and near a services. I did this. Pulled close to the grass and called the tyre company to let them know. Without any notification from Everton, I see a recovery truck behind me with lights flashing. Whilst still on the phone with the tyre company I try to talk to the recovery driver who is shouting away at me. Shouting why did I move, why was I in a “live lane” and so much more. It was horrendous. Female, alone, dead of night, had been standing in the cold for almost 3 hours at this point, and all I get is loud and gesturing abuse. I tried to ask him what he wanted me to do. Through the shouting it was clear he was going to be of no use at all and just wanted me to drive to the services car park and that was it. The abuse continued for several minutes. By the time he left I was shaking and in tears.
One of the positives of this night was the fact I did not have to endure this vile man in a recovery truck to my home an hour away.
If you're planning on taking out Green Flag breakdown cover through your insurance make sure they don't use this company as you'll be banging your head against a brick wall trying to get the help you need.
My windscreen wipers seized up travelling through the roadworks on the M56 and phoned for recovery through Green Flag at 2.30pm. Was told someone would be with me by 4.50pm but they said they couldn't find me despite me giving precise location. Was collected at 5.30pm thinking I was being taken home (Anglesey) but was told I was being taken to a safe place at Lymm services and somebody else would come to attempt a repair before 7.10pm.
When they failed to show I was told on the phone they were 5mins away then immediately got a text msg to say it would be 10.30pm and when I phoned to find out why was told as I'm in a safe place I wasn't a priority.
Someone came at 10.20pm but they couldn't do the repair so at 11.30pm I was told I needed to arrange overnight accommodation as there was nobody available to get me home but they'd be with me between 7am-9am.
That time came and went and was then told they couldn't get to me until later in the afternoon at which point I demanded another company be found to take me and the car home.
I eventually got home at 1.30pm. 23hrs after my initial breakdown.
Please do not use this company if there’s a way for you to avoid them.
I broke down and was initially told that they would be with me within the hour (bearing in mind I was a lone female who had broken down in an extremely precarious place on the slip road of a very busy dual carriageway at rush hour). The hour passed by and then they messaged to say it would be a further 1.5 hours. By this time the temperature had dropped to 4 degrees and I had been stranded for 2.5 hours. When it reached the time that they said they would arrive, I received a further message to say they would be another hour. I rang and they promised to get someone to me asap. No one came. I rang them back and they said they would ring back in 5 minutes, but it took 30 minutes for them to call. In the end it was 5 hours before they reached me…5 hours spent alone by the side of the road at night in 4 degree temperatures.
I just wish they would have been honest and realistic in their communications, rather than fobbing me off every hour. At least that way I could have thought about the safest plan/next steps.
I worry that this company will do the same to others. Please avoid them if you can, in my experience they weren’t honest, safe, trustworthy or reliable.
Zero stars from me , I was with Green Flag my car broke down in Sk11 area , unfortunately for me the recovery company used was Egertons , called Green Flag around 2.30 on 23/11/22 , great first Egerton van arrived within the hour around 3.20 tried to jump start my car no joy ..this guy seemed OK explained that I needed tow vehicle, arranged for car to be dropped at garage in Stoke, recieved text saying arrival would be 16.55 great I think , My car arrived at Stoke 16.45 the following day over 25 hours later , I had been ringing them all day being fobbed off , I actually began to believe they had lost it or smashed it , I was crying very very upset , they even charged me extra £39.50 for trip , I am receiving some compensation from Green Flag , if you looking for breakdown cover use a company that is not associated with Egertons dreadful service. Must give a shout out to Jane on the phone she was kind ..
Booked and paid for the recovery. Recovery day came and went along with several further days, no recovery as too busy ( even though all booked in advance). Cancelled the recovery and requested a refund, 2 weeks and several phone calls later still no refund. Terrible customer service not sure how they can boast on the call waiting service about meeting customer needs.
Wow. I’d had a previous good experience with Egertons when booked through a third party so thought I would try them direct. I needed a car recovering in Manchester. After a huge wait to actually speak to someone I was put through to a uninterested gentleman who ‘went to ask his boss’ for a couple of minutes and said they were too busy. Massively unhelpful.
