Arranged for electrician

Arranged for electrician - called before start of day to advise running late but would update us. No call received updating whether technician was going to arrive in time. Speaking to Customer Service agent her attitude was terrible as if she didn't give a damn or not whether our work was completed - shouldn't work with customers. Suggested tech had called home - no call received there or on mobile. Ended up cancelling call as customer service agent had no intention of trying to resolve issue or have any concern for customer. Wouldn't recommend based on this service.

will not use this company again

We needed our electrics checked after a fire. And we were let down on the two appointments made with this company. Time time frames we were given kept changing and we were only cancelled on after waiting several hours. Customer service was useless; they only offered platitudes but didn’t appear to have any solutions, and could only blame the engineers. Which begs the question why they work with unreliable tradesman. Will not use this company again.

If I could leave no stars I would !

If I could leave no stars I would.
I will never be using this lot again.
Electrical failure at home, told I could get someone there quickly but it was £145
Electrician came and thankfully did the job quickly but when I checked my bank account I find they’ve taken £174.
Not happy doesn’t cut it.
“Most people who work here say it is plus VAT”
Well they didn’t tell me.
If I’d read these reviews first I would have gone nowhere near this set of crooks.
Methinks a call to trading standards is in order.

Utterly bloody unreliable

Utterly bloody unreliable. Our boiler let us down and this was the bunch of clowns I phoned (never again). They did send out an 'engineer' who rapidly decided that the pump had gone (having taken my boiler to pieces which is how it was left). He said he would get me a quote for a new pump within half an hour. The following day I phoned this bunch of muppets who told me that my boiler had in fact been condemned, but I was still liable for the £125 + VAT callout fee. We ordered a new boiler that evening and decided we would dispute the £125 + VAT. The following day the engineer told me that he'd got my pump and would be coming to fit it that evening, no mention of how much this would cost so sod off, I don't need your bloody pump any more. Basically, if anyone is thinking of using this company, read this and the rest of the less than complimentary reviews, and use someone else

Thank to all on this site

Thank to all on this site. I called ERG as it came up first - I booked a call out they took my card details and said it would be £145.00 for a call out plus VAT. Then I saw this site, so I cancelled the call out (and with my credit card). Booked a local company who did not ask for card details, they came out, fixed the minor problem with 30 minutes, then sent an invoice for £42.00 incl. VAT.

Absolute SCAM

Absolute scammers. Had an electrical fault - said they were sending their "most experienced electrician". A young lad turned up, did not touch a thing just asked the same questions we'd said on the phone, made a phone call to his boss and then left advising us to "call back to get someone to fix it". We called back and they couldn't help us as they were waiting for his report. In the meantime we got another company to come and fix. 3 days later ERG called wanting to send a man out, we said no. Explained their first lad didn't even look at anything. They are now trying to charge us £150 for his visit as his report says he diagnosed a fault and did a temporary repair when in fact he didn't even open the door to the fuse box or touch anything. His lies meant we were without power for 24 hours longer than necessary and now ERG keep trying to charge my card 150 when they didn't do a thing. This is our third week or arguing the charges, each time we call back we get told we shouldn't be charged as we're disputing the visit - yet they have tried to charge my card 4 times. Twice today. Absolute scam company. DO NOT USE

Sent a local contractor in to my mum…

Sent a local contractor in to my mum and dads house (pensioners, dads in a wheelchair) to stop a faulty smoke alarm beeping (had been all night). Contractor was instructed to isolate the alarm and remove the faulty one. He left wires hanging out my mums ceiling, he took all of 2 minutes to isolate and remove the face off the alarm, and they charged £150. No replacement alarm and the hole is just left in the ceiling. Mum is totally distraught that she let herself be conned out of the money because she was tired and distressed from having been kept up all night with the beeping.
Extremely poor customer service, leaving a house in that state and charging that amount for 2 minutes of someones time.

Would not touch with a badge pole

I thought I might have hit the main power cable coming down the wall. I called ERG to check the cable in the wall, the man come and took the socket off and said to his manager that he stripped it all down and all he did was take the two screws out to look behind it.
I said to him you were supposed to have come out to look at the main cable in the wall. He used a small crowbar to chip away the plaster I could see that he was wasting time, he wanted to charge me another hour. He asked to wash his hands half way through. In my opinion he was wasting time so it would run overtime and cost more money, I asked him to leave and got a proper electrician to check it. Phoned today to ask for money back. I'm still waiting for a call back. Would not recommend this company.

Totally misleading - AVOID

Called just before lunch due to an electrical emergency and they arranged for an electrician to arrive before three pm. Waiting in and at 3.05pm they called to say the electrician had been called away and could not now attend but they would send someone out the following day.
Called back at 3.09pm to state we would not be available the following day and to ask for our £165 + VAT to be returned. Asked again why the electrician had not attended, they stated the company did not have any electricians available and had been trying to ring round to obtain someone. We were totally misled and certainly not told the truth regarding the availability of electricians. Their advert and customer service staff are totally misleading, but they are very quick to take your credit card payment details.

Feel scammed by erg

Feel scammed by erg. Tried to arrange 3 appointments, the engineer did not show up to any with no contact. After the third one i rang and cancelled, they rang me over a week later telling me the engineer had turned up later that evening, demanding payment in a threatening and agressive way, i had been in that evening and knew noone had and refused to pay. The person demanding payment was incredibly rude and was happy to make 'facts' up such as we rang on the 26th, not true according to phone records and not credible with it being a bank holiday.

Do not under any circumstances call…

Do not under any circumstances call this company. They brand themselves as a local electrical company, call them and 1st question they ask you as you're clearly calling as you need to get something fixed is what are your card details and are you OK to pay 125 for the call out to fix your problem. So electrician arrives, expecting someone from ERG, instead someone from a local company in Aberdeen called JOR arrive. After 5 minutes of checking the shower and the electrics the electrician concludes. Yeah your shower is broke and you need a new one. We'll yeah that's why you're here? No electrician says has to go back to his boss to arrange a quote for a new shower and installation. OK no problem, instead don't hear from erg until 4 days later when they are chasing up payment on an invoice for 150 quid, for an electrician coming in for 5 mins and saying my shower is broken. 2 weeks later and get a letter from erg saying contact us within 7 days for payment or we will take court action. Now let's get this right, I wouldn't have an issue paying anything if they had sorted the problem or actually followed up to actually fix the problem at hand. Instead all you've done is harass my gf for payment for something what I believe you have no intention of fixing. I am going to citizens advice and I am calling your credit control team today. Please avoid this company who brand themselves local electricians when they are not and just call someone local to deal with your issue. Wouldnt ever post something as negative as this about a company but this is a complete fraud. I will be taking this further.

On top of that because there was no follow up to actually sorting the problem I called a local electrician who came out the next day, replaced the shower and installation for 220.

To this day still haven't heard from erg to replace the shower just want their 150 for an electrician coming to tell me my shower was broken..... Thanks for that.

Liars, scammers. Get a local sparky instead.

Lied from the start about estimated time of arrival and talking to the electrician who had "just finished the previous job". Cancelled after they estimated 11pm for a job booked for 4.30pm. I had no reason to believe this estimate was true either. There are always going to be scam companies like this. The shocking thing is that GOOGLE accept their money for Google ads after this company have featured on BBC Watchdog. They obviously buy credibility with some of the more venal rating agencies. How many people will be ripped off before some of these guys go to prison?
